Inspiration for a contemporary living room remodel in Orange County

Our Chappaqua client lived in this house for many years and realized they needed more space, updated finishes, and a nicer exterior. After looking at disappointing new homes and other fixer uppers for years, they realized that updating their own house would be the perfect solution. The new home is 5,500 sf. It has open concept spaces, new larger ensuite bedrooms, and a new finished basement. Our clients loved the process, staying in their current neighborhood, and especially keeping their great backyard.

James Lockheart | William T Baker collaborated with Kathleen Rivers on this mountain home for a family in Western Carolina. It is a successful blend of rustic materials and beautiful furnishings.

More often than not, clients these days are saying goodbye to their huge jetted tub and opting for a super shower. This shower with bench extension and pony wall does not disappoint! The room features a herringbone pattern with a wood plank porcelain tile. The shower is accented with a smaller scale herringbone deco tile.

The updated cabinet was next in completing this look. We suggested a mint green cabinet and boy, did it not disappoint! The original bathroom was designed for a teenage girl, complete with a beautiful bowl sink and make up vanity. But now, this bathroom has a couple pint-sized occupants. We suggested the double sinks for their own spaces. To take it one step further, we gave them each a cabinet and their own set of drawers. We used Starmark Cabinetry and special ordered this color since it’s not one they offer. We chose Sherwin Williams “Rainwashed”. (For the hardware, we just picked our a set from Lowes that we thought looked both dainty and like it belonged in a Farmhouse.)

Country exterior home idea in Portland Maine

With a unique architectural element featuring two structural beams running crosswise through the kitchen, the cabinetry needed to work to enhance the detail. On the wish list was an impressive island with seating that could replace the large kitchen table. The kitchen was designed with 33” high custom wall cabinets of varying heights, to float unobtrusively below the beams. A window was removed in order to accommodate the new beautiful focal point; a custom designed stucco hood and cooking area with a decorative ledge niche. Skylights in the vaulted area produce ample light, allowing the sink to be relocated to the large center island. The cherry glazed island conceals two dishwashers, with a soft outer arc so that diners can see one another. An elegant dinette area was created to showcase glassware and store linens. With a matching wood top and a hidden TV, this beautiful furniture piece is in direct view from the living room area, making the kitchen, at a glance, as well appointed as the rest of the home. Softly distressed ivory cabinetry with a brown glaze lightened the originally dark kitchen, creating a roomy and cheerful space. Golden tumbled travertine and crackled glass details on the backsplash accentuate the dramatic “Grand Canyon” colors of the natural stone counter tops.

A custom-made expansive two-story home providing views of the spacious kitchen, breakfast nook, dining, great room and outdoor amenities upon entry. This custom-made laundry chute is one of many unique features in this space. Made entirely of walnut, this framed door was designed with soft-close hinges and fit perfectly between the 12x12 tiles.

Inset limed oak cabinets flanking a custom hood at the range call attention to the couple's wedding china. The oak carries through the kitchen with the gigantic custom island and the trestle table. Performance fabrics, a serene floral and wicker all combine to provide multiple options for seating. This kitchen is the centerpiece of the home and it does not disappoint.

This kitchen remodel opened up the clients space with beautiful white recessed pearl painted cabinets, with lighted transoms above. The clients chose a "white ice" glass tile splash, a Viatera solid surface in Rococco resembling marble, and baked clay farmers sink. A custom edge was added to the ledge behind the sink to dress up the transition between rooms.
