Open shelves, cornices, top boards and the gently rounded edges discreetly emphasise the country cottage character of our rondo kitchen. Small playful details such as solid wood cookery book holders and niche elements complete the charming appearance of the rondo kitchen. The emphasis here is placed on manageability and functionality. For instance, there is a top cabinet with generous storage space for kitchen tools and other utensils concealed behind a practical roll door.

What our clients needed:
• Create a garden folly that doubles as a well-built shed for crafts and storage.
• Size the structure large enough for comfortable storage without dominating the garden.
• Discreetly locate the shed in the far corner of the rear yard while maintaining existing trees.
• Ensure that the structure is protected from the weather and carefully detailed to deter access of wildlife and rodents.
FUNCTION
• Construct the shed slab close to grade to permit easy access for bicycle storage, while building shed walls above grade to ensure against termites and dryrot.
• Install a French door and operable casement windows to admit plenty of daylight and provide views to the garden.
• Include rugged built-in work bench, shelves, bike racks and tool storage for a rustic well-organized and efficient space.
• Incorporate GFIC electrical service for safe access to power at this distant corner of the yard.
• Position energy-efficient interior lighting to ensure space can be used year-round.
• Switch control of exterior light from house and from shed for ease of command.
AESTHETICS
• Design and detail the shed to coordinate with the Arts and Crafts style house.
• Include an arbor for future flowering vines, further softening the shed’s garden presence.
• Simple and rustic interior surfaces ensure that the space is easy to clean.
• Create an aged and softly weathered appearance, and protect the exterior siding by finishing the cedar with a custom-colored semi-transparent stain.
INNOVATIVE MATERIALS AND CONSTRUCTION
• Factory-built components were pre-assembled to allow for a speedy assembly and for a shorter on-site construction schedule.
• Each component was easily transported through the yard without disturbing garden features.
• Decorative exterior trim frames the door and windows, while a simpler trim is used inside the unadorned shed.
OBSTACLE OVERCOME
• The structure is located in the corner of the yard to avoid disturbance of a curly willow tree.
• The low-profile structure is positioned close to property lines while staying beneath the allowable daylight plane for structures.
• To comply with daylight plane close to fence, the roof form combines hip and gable forms, with door located at gable end.
• The height of the modest interior is maximized, without exceeding the allowable building height.
CRAFTSMANSHIP
• The concrete slab was precisely formed and finished for ease of shed assembly before the factory-built components were delivered to site.
• Precision planning meant the pre-framed door fit exactly between raised concrete curb.

A Scullery or not? A separate baking area is positioned on the rear wall, partly partitioned off by frosted cavity sliding doors. This original wall line was retained to minimise structural changes and accommodate either an open and connected relationship with the 'home baker' chef OR discreetly hide when entertaining is underway!
[See video for the magic in behind these doors and drawers!]

A wood worktop spans the dark-painted workshop wall, with a rolling drawer cabinet beneath and shallow shelves above. Wall-mounted tool storage keeps the work surface clear.

What began as a dated, constrained kitchen has been transformed into a warm, welcoming centerpiece of the home. At its core is a generous island—both a gathering spot and a hardworking culinary hub—featuring a Miele 48" range, a live-edge walnut bar top, and thoughtfully planned drawer and pull-out systems that keep everything within reach.
Custom alder cabinetry in a warm stain, paired with soft blue accents, creates a tailored palette that feels both inviting and distinctive. Smart storage is woven into every corner: a hidden coffee station, a recessed corner pantry with tall retractable doors, discreet appliance storage for everyday tools, dedicated wine and tray storage, pull-out spice organization, and wide drawers designed for pots, pans, and larger essentials.
In the evenings, toe-kick lighting and alabaster pendants cast a soft, ambient glow—making the kitchen not only functional, but an effortless place to gather and entertain.

Our clients envisioned a clean, contemporary kitchen designed for both functionality and entertaining. Passionate about cooking and entertaining guests, their priorities included generous work surfaces, discreet storage for small appliances, and ample space for serving ware, cookware, and dinnerware.
The cabinetry was selected for both aesthetics and ease of maintenance. A minimalist, hardware-free look keeps the space visually uncluttered. Lower cabinets operate via a continuous Euro-style channel, which seamlessly integrates with the refrigerator panels. Upper and tall cabinets feature a mix of touch-latch and servo-driven mechanisms, enhancing accessibility while maintaining a sleek profile.
A raised bar conceals cooktop clutter during meal prep and creates a welcoming space to serve and engage with guests. The U-shaped layout was essential to keep the work zone distinct from social areas while allowing smooth movement around the kitchen.
Lighting played a central role in the design. Multiple layers of illumination, all set to a bright 5000K color temperature per the homeowners' request, include dimmable toe-kick lights and a continuous recessed light channel along the tall cabinets. These create both ambiance and high-function lighting as needed.
For entertaining large groups, the kitchen features multiple ovens and a warming drawer—perfect for entertaining. On the refrigerator wall, servo-activated countertop cabinets conceal small appliances, with the countertop surface continuing inside for easy access. A built-in, barista-quality coffee machine is nestled between these cabinets, adding a touch of luxury.
For a clean look free of visible outlets, the team installed touch-activated, pop-out Legrand outlets with three-sided access. The color was custom-matched to complement the veining in the quartz countertops.
The tall cabinet adjacent to the double oven stores everyday dishware, conveniently located for setting the nearby dining table. At the end of the peninsula, a servo-activated double trash pullout allows easy access without interfering with the cook. A dedicated utensil pullout beside it keeps tools within reach while maintaining clear countertops.

This meticulously designed L-shaped kitchen not only boasts high-end appliances and elegant finishes but also incorporates thoughtful organization features to enhance both functionality and convenience. The expansive 123" x 62" island is complemented by Quartzite Moondust countertops with a mitered edge, while the mix of greige perimeter cabinetry and vintage wood island creates a warm, inviting atmosphere.
For kitchen organization, the space is equipped with a variety of practical storage solutions. Tray dividers keep baking sheets and larger items neatly separated, while a utensil pull-out and knife pull-out provide easy access to everyday tools. An appliance garage helps keep countertops clutter-free, offering a hidden space for small appliances. The full-height trash can pull-out ensures waste disposal is discreet and efficient. Pantry roll-outs make accessing pantry items simple, and cutlery dividers keep utensils organized and within reach. Wine cubbies provide a dedicated space for bottles, and a built-in charging station ensures your devices are always powered up.
High-end appliances include a 48" Wolf dual range with brushed brass handles, a 42" Sub-Zero Wolf fridge, a 30" microwave, and a 30" convection steam oven, along with 24" Sub-Zero freezer drawers and a 24" Sub-Zero beverage center for added convenience. The backsplash features a chic, homey milk glossy subway tile in a 3x10 size, completing the kitchen’s stylish and functional design. With a perfect blend of luxury and practicality, this kitchen is both beautiful and highly efficient.
