Bathroom - contemporary bathroom idea in San Francisco

This project is one which I will not take design credit for, as the house was designed by my ex-employer as his own home. I was however responsible for the complete detailing of the entire house and stair, was project manager and over saw the development of design and construction documents and, oversaw the entire construction Administration phase of the project. I worked as a carpenter with the contractor for the last part of the project which included erecting the stair that came from fabricator shipped as one piece unit. These photos were taken by Michael Raso, AIA, of Dvisionone, formerly a partner for ten years with Herbert Newman and Partners, now known as Newman Architects. For those interested, this was built in 1975.

At the beginning of the design process, the homeowners requested a simple and elegant home. They had collected wonderful and exquisite items from their travels around the world, and wanted a simple backdrop to showcase them. The pallet of cream, brown and white was combined with elegant arched doorways, large windows and sculptural light fixtures for a timeless home. Detailed construction documents were vital in communicating their needs and design changes along the way so that the final product reflected their vision. The homeowners favorite room in this house is the kitchen with expansive views of the whole home and space for entertaining friends from near and far.

Feast your eyes on our new Outdoor Living Display. The feature is located at our Creative Center on New Holland Pike in Lancaster, PA. This is the finished Product. We have documented the entire build from start to finish. Previous videos were shot in time-lapse during the duration of the build. Links to previous videos are at the bottom of the page. The Display feature incorporates a little bit of the services we provide. We featured different aspects of outdoor living. The first thing to catch your eye is a fairly large-scale water feature. The water feature consist of a ecosystem pond. The water starts to flow from a spillway bowl fountain. The spillway pours into the bog filter. The water then flows down various cascading waterfalls. The waterfalls and pond were constructed out of 2 different types of boulders. We did this to show various options available. There is a gigantic boulder fountain that is incorporated into the pond as well. There is a skimmer in the pond the show functionality. The pond then flows over a zero edge waterfall into a large basin. Atop the basin is 3 fountains. 2 bubbling urn fountains as well as fire bowl fountain. The patio area incorporates different styles and colors of pavers. Along with different styles of boarders. There is 2 seating walls on either side of the patio area. Each seating wall has a mixture of stone and brick veneer and topped with flagstone caps. There is a very unique shed next to the patio area. Surrounding the patio are we installed an outdoor audio system as well. This system cranks out some serious sound. Stop by and have a listen! The entire project area is outfitted with landscape lighting. We incorporated up-lights, wall lights, path lights, and a couple spot lights. The entire water feature also has underwater lighting installed. Landscaping was installed around the project to finished it off. This project involved a full upgrade of window treatments for a traditional sash bay and adjacent tall windows. The goal was to improve light control, thermal performance, and aesthetics by installing made‑to‑measure plantation shutters and bespoke blinds. The result is a cohesive, high‑quality finish that respects the property’s character while adding modern convenience. Scope of Work - Full site survey and precise measuring of all windows. - Manufacture and supply of bespoke plantation shutters for the bay sections. - Supply and installation of made‑to‑measure roller blinds with blackout lining for tall sash windows. - Motorisation for long‑drop blinds where required, plus wiring and testing. - Final adjustments, sealing, and a quality inspection. Challenges and Solutions - Long drop blinds: For windows with a 3 m drop we specified reinforced headrails and high‑torque motors to prevent sagging and ensure smooth operation. - Sash window geometry: Custom shutter panels were designed to fit bay angles and sash reveals, using discreet fixings to preserve original frames. - Insulation and noise reduction: We selected thicker louvres and lined blinds to improve thermal retention and reduce external noise.
