My client wanted to use her father's filing cabinet that is very sentimental to her.
This 1 BR / 1 BA condo with 660 SQFT has limited areas for a large filing cabinet, so I thought since it is a sentimental piece of furniture, we would incorporate it in the living room. Now my client can enjoy viewing her father's filing cabinet and have easy access to filed documents. I added a tray with a lantern and some greenery for a nice touch in the living room.
My client was impressed by my cleverness of incorporating the filing cabinet in the design.

If you haven’t come across @collected_eclectic on social media yet, we suggest you take a look ASAP! Grace and Michael have been on a DIY home remodeling spree, especially in their kitchen, and they’ve documented every step of the way. By doing everything on their own, they saved a ton of money and were able to stick to their budget, and we were lucky to be a part of their kitchen.
Pictured here is our Red Oak Natural Wood Slab on the #sektion system, as Grace and Michael used a combination of drawers and doors on tall cabinets to create more storage than what previously existed. Tall cabinets are a great way to let grain direction shine, as it creates a focal point that you really can’t miss! Other details include toe kicks and matching end panels, and they finished off the wood with satin brass hardware from @emtek_products.
Grace said “the wood cabinets are the absolute highlight and I can’t get over how beautiful they area! Seriously stunning!” We appreciate the kind words and couldn’t agree more.

Nestled into the pines and fog, Gerrish Island made quite an eerie first impression. A winding driveway guided by a rhythm of trees so mature only the trunks could be seen through the car windows. The tree canopy created a darkened tunnel, its curves never providing clues to when it would end. The awe came from the pure excitement of what we would find around the bend.
It was clad in age; dark weathered shingles, a mossy green trim, and craggy stonework. The screens had seen better days and the windows let in scant natural light. It had certainly been something special to its previous owners – a backdrop to highly anticipated summer escapes, grassy yard games, and beach days. It had been a special place to someone – empty now – but with the promise of huge potential.

The new owner of this turn-of-the-century shingle style home saw this potential too, asking us to imbue the home with that same sense of nostalgia, but in present day context for a modern day family.
We documented the home inside and out, piecing together a loose timeline to its beginnings and its earlier additions and renovations.
The style of the home, its massing and siting, were originally done brilliantly and would remain intact.
Wherever we could keep the original stonework we did. It provided such a strong connection to the site and the tremendous amount of existing stone outcropping common to the Island.
The original porch facing west, cold and enclosed, was demolished, making way for a new wrap around porch that now glows as the sunsets.
Another screened porch to the back was fully winterized and made into a new family room.
The interior was stripped back to the studs and reworked, only minimally, to improve flow or eliminate small rooms no longer necessary for present day living.
New systems were installed and the kitchen was updated and reconfigured opening up to the new family room.
Years later we were asked back to add a garage; something the home had never had.
More flattering still, after the property sold again, the newest owners asked us to design a rear ‘L’ shaped addition to house. The design evolved to look like an original porch that had been enclosed, to house a more traditional butler’s pantry, mudroom, and an interior connection to the garage’s second floor where we would eventually design two additional guest suites.
We were happy to be apart of what we thought was the second life for this home and ended up being a third life for another family who also saw this home and its unique property as too GOOD to pass up.

Interior photography refers to architectural photography of interiors, not to be confused with general photography indoors. Interior photography is a great photography niche to have skills in, as many companies, real estate agents and publications are always in need of good interior shots.
The skill of photographing a room, whether it is in a house or a commercial environment, is one that is practiced principally by professionals who specialize in architectural photography or interior design work.
Most people never give much thought to making a room the subject of a photograph. That is a mistake.
If your are listing a house for sale or rent, a good photograph of a luxurious living room or dining room might be a great promotion item.
Good detailed photographs of a room and its furnishings might come in handy for insurance documentation. And, particularly as we grow older, who would not value a photograph of a childhood bedroom from years gone by?

This beautiful, 1,600 SF duplex three-bedroom, two-bath apartment in the heart of the West Village was originally a diamond in the rough with great potential. The coop is located on a quiet, tree-lined street and, as a top floor unit, boasts lovely southern and eastern exposures with views of this charming neighborhood overlooking the Hudson. Our clients were making a big move from the West Coast and wanted the new home to be ready in time for the start of the new school year, so Studioteka’s architecture and interior design team rolled up our sleeves and got to work! Construction documents were prepared for the coop board and NYC Department of Buildings approval and our team coordinated the renovation. The entire unit had new hardwood flooring, moldings, and doors installed, the stairs were gently refinished, and we took down a wall separating the living room from a small den on the lower level, making the living space much more open, light-filled, and inviting. The hot water heater was tucked away in an unused space under the stair landing, allowing for the creation of a new kitchen pantry with additional storage. We gut-renovated the upstairs bathroom, creating a built-in shower niche as well as a brand new Duravit tub, Mirabelle high-efficiency toilet, American Standard matte black fixtures, and a white Strasser Woodenworks vanity with black hardware. Classic white subway tile lines the walls and shower enclosure, while black and white basketweave tile is used on the floor. The matte black towel hooks, toilet roll holder, and towel rod contrast with the white wall tile, and a shower curtain with a delicate black and white pattern completes the room. Finally, new mid-century modern furnishings were combined with existing pieces to create an apartment that is both a joy to come home to and a warm, inviting urban oasis for this family of four.

Guest Suite - Powder Lav ||| We were involved with most aspects of this newly constructed 2,700 sq ft penthouse guest suite, including: comprehensive construction documents; interior details, drawings and specifications; custom power & lighting; client & builder communications. ||| Penthouse and interior design by: Harry J Crouse Design Inc ||| Builder: Balfour Beatty

Hired by the owners to provide interior design services for a complete remodel of a mid-century home in Berkeley Hills, California this family of four’s wishes were to create a home that was inviting, playful, comfortable and modern. Slated with a quirky floor plan that needed a rational design solution we worked extensively with the homeowners to provide interior selections for all finishes, cabinet designs, redesign of the fireplace and custom media cabinet, headboard and platform bed. Hues of walnut, white, gray, blues and citrine yellow were selected to bring an overall inviting and playful modern palette. Regan Baker Design was responsible for construction documents and assited with construction administration to help ensure the designs were well executed. Styling and new furniture was paired to compliment a few existing key pieces, including a commissioned piece of art, side board, dining table, console desk, and of course the breathtaking view of San Francisco's Bay.
