They were then joined to form a single panel that when opened offer a view of the master suite's sitting area. The interplay of opposites is an everpresent quality running through this couple's home, and the bedroom door is no exception. Its rough-hewn quality is offset by the surrounding walls and cabinetry, and black hardware. Although the door serves as a backdrop for art when opened, it is practically a piece of art itself.

This farmhouse kitchen was designed for an active family that loves to entertain and likes to keep an eye on their menagerie of barnyard animals throughout the day. The pantry, behind the barn door, was carved out of a former cabinet space while the refrigerator was relocated to the former tiny pantry, after the two side fireplace was replaced with a once sided fireplace that now faces the family room. With the burning hazard eliminated, the island could be extended for much desired storage, prep space as well as a place for friends and family to perch while meal preparation is underway.

This slatted sliding door was created as a way to control the sun. The hardware used was the Classic Flat Track Kit. The Colorado designer of this space stated, "The project requirements were to add an urban-feel and uniqueness to a suburban space while maintaining views of the open space behind the property, but adding sun control in the summer. The solution was a streamlined slatted sliding door mounted on a faux beam."

Removing the stone wall that once separated the kitchen from the dining room (now the family room–living room) allowed more natural light to flood the kitchen. Removing the wall also improved the flow between the two spaces, and now the homeowners working in the kitchen have a way to check on the kids or visit with guests when entertaining.
