This home has "doggone" good design! This design, by Kendra Roenker of Modern Builders Supply, makes pet care easy for the owners, and luxurious for the dogs. The amenities go way beyond the basics. The faucet is placed above the water bowls—no more toting water from the kitchen sink and leaving a wet trail behind. The beds aren't just beds—they are raised beds with stepping stools. The feeding station holds toys, food, leashes and dog grooming tools—there will be no problems finding necessities. What more could a dog or a dog owner need? Kendra specified StarMark Cabinetry's Viola door style in Cherry finished in a beautiful brown cabinet color called Hazelnut. Job well done Kendra! Modern Builders Supply is a StarMark Cabinetry dealer in Florence, Kentucky.

A cluttered suburban laundry room gets a makeover—cubbies and dog-wash station included.

With amazing city views, its hard not to want to spend all your time living outside. With this design, you can. In one corner you have planters packed with seasonal vegetables that can be picked, rinsed and served, all within about 10 footsteps. Want some protein with that? No problem. The outdoor kitchen is set to feed a crowd, all while engaging friends over the bar, and into the dining area. Here, with built-in retractable pergola canopies, you can control your environment to whatever shade, sun, or night sky setting you desire. And then, when you can eat no more, kick-back and relax in the comfy, heated lounge seating area.

Natural boulders set in the landscape within the planting areas. In the background are raised wood box vegetable gardens filled with herbs and vegetables. These boxes are made of redwood and filled with rich composted soil ready to feed the plants.

This old farmhouse (ca. late 18th century) has undergone many renovations over the years. Spring Creek Design added its stamp in 2008, with a small mudroom addition and a complete interior renovation.
The addition encompasses a 1st floor mudroom with extensive cabinetry and closetry. Upon entering the space from the driveway, cabinet and countertop space is provided to accommodate incoming grocery bags. Next in line are a series of “lockers” and cubbies - just right for coats, hats and book bags. Further inside is a wrap-around window seat with cedar shoe racks beneath. A stainless steel dog feeding station rounds out the amenities - all built atop a natural Vermont slate floor.
On the lower level, the addition features a full bathroom and a “Dude Pod” - a compact work and play space for the resident code monkey. Outfitted with a stand-up desk and an electronic drum kit, one needs only emerge for Mountain Dew refills and familial visits.
Within the existing space, we added an ensuite bathroom for the third floor bedroom. The second floor bathroom and first floor powder room were also gutted and remodeled.
The master bedroom was extensively remodeled - given a vaulted ceiling and a wall of floor-to-roof built-ins accessed with a rolling ladder.
An extensive, multi-level deck and screen house was added to provide outdoor living space, with secure, dry storage below.
Design Criteria:
- Update house with a high sustainability standard.
- Provide bathroom for daughters’ third floor bedroom.
- Update remaining bathrooms
- Update cramped, low ceilinged master bedroom
- Provide mudroom/entryway solutions.
- Provide a window seating space with good visibility of back and side yards – to keep an eye on the kids at play.
- Replace old deck with a updated deck/screen porch combination.
- Update sitting room with a wood stove and mantle.
Special Features:
- Insulated Concrete Forms used for Dude Pod foundation.
- Soy-based spray foam insulation used in the addition and master bedroom.
- Paperstone countertops in mudroom.
- Zero-VOC paints and finishes used throughout the project.
- All decking and trim for the deck/screen porch is made from 100% recycled HDPE (milk jugs, soda, water bottles)
- High efficiency combination washer/dryer.

These beautiful wood window boxes are part of a summer seasonal changeover in Dedham, MA. The boxes are watered through drip irrigation.
The recently planted box here is filled with Coleus, purple petunias, licorice and New Guinea Impatiens, all of which grow and fill in the box to a full cascade throughout the summer months!

A delightful, lightweight wall planter for both indoor and outdoor vertical gardening. Pockets are soft-sided, breathable, and stunning when hung in sets. Features military-grade moisture barriers to ensure that your walls stay dry. Fasteners and anchors are included for easy hanging on a variety of surfaces. An optional drip kit is available as well; it includes an emitter line, main line, plug, coupler, tee, and elbow. The drip kit tubing feeds through small holes in the Wally and can connect with multiple Wallys for an irrigation system; it then connects out to a drip supply line along with the timer and water source. For a more advanced watering system, there is also a 25' Supply Line and an Automatic Drip Timer available separately. If you would like to hand water your Wally, the optional drip kit and other irrigation accessories are not required.
