This house was built as a testing ground for refining assembly, trying new details, and simplifying mechanical tweaks. It was designed as a stock plan, taking into account the wedge-shaped lot common to new suburbs. A large, south-facing great room brings bright south light into the home, uncommon in a neighborhood where the same design is reused over and over regardless of orientation. The exterior styling references the classic suburban architecture of the 20th century, while keeping the finishes maintenance-free. A corroded pipe in the 2nd floor bathroom was the original prompt to begin extensive updates on this 109 year old heritage home in Elbow Park. This craftsman home was build in 1912 and consisted of scattered design ideas that lacked continuity. In order to steward the original character and design of this home while creating effective new layouts, we found ourselves faced with extensive challenges including electrical upgrades, flooring height differences, and wall changes. This home now features a timeless kitchen, site finished oak hardwood through out, 2 updated bathrooms, and a staircase relocation to improve traffic flow. The opportunity to repurpose exterior brick that was salvaged during a 1960 addition to the home provided charming new backsplash in the kitchen and walk in pantry.

The striking interior wall cladding of this hotel presents the Max Compact Interior panels in two different ambiances. On one hand, the reception area and the breakfast room (in the first floor as an open balcony looking towards the reception area) was all cladded with white panels for both the walls and ceiling. In all this area, the panels show perforations that allow astonishing backlighting, letting the light emerge from the backspace between the walls and the Max Compact phenolic panels. The result is an effect that mimics galactic space with light beams emerging from the walls and roof, projected to several directions. The other areas cladded with Max Compact Interior were the stair walls and some hallways. In these places, they used a woodgrain panel that imprints elegance to these spaces.

his project aimed to transform a dark and disorganized basement into a bright, functional, and inviting space. The client’s vision focused on creating an organized area for the kids, a dedicated fitness zone for mom, and an overall brighter and more accessible space. To effectively address the client’s needs, we devised a solution that involved installing four custom built-ins to manage the children’s belongings and creating a dedicated, open fitness area for moM. We also introduced a half bath with convenient access to the outdoor space and improved natural light by enlarging window sizes and fitting a full-light door. This finished basement now has a simple, clean, and sophisticated feel. A busy family with four young kids, these clients sought a solution to keep their stuff organized and tidy, have a dedicated fitness area, and generally make the space brighter and more inviting. And, now, they have it.
