As a conceptual urban infill project, the Wexley is designed for a narrow lot in the center of a city block. The 26’x48’ floor plan is divided into thirds from front to back and from left to right. In plan, the left third is reserved for circulation spaces and is reflected in elevation by a monolithic block wall in three shades of gray. Punching through this block wall, in three distinct parts, are the main levels windows for the stair tower, bathroom, and patio. The right two-thirds of the main level are reserved for the living room, kitchen, and dining room. At 16’ long, front to back, these three rooms align perfectly with the three-part block wall façade. It’s this interplay between plan and elevation that creates cohesion between each façade, no matter where it’s viewed. Given that this project would have neighbors on either side, great care was taken in crafting desirable vistas for the living, dining, and master bedroom. Upstairs, with a view to the street, the master bedroom has a pair of closets and a skillfully planned bathroom complete with soaker tub and separate tiled shower. The luxurious Calcutta marble is complemented by the crisp Benjamin Moore Moonshine paint and the texture in the marble mosaic floors is a perfect pair with the simple Bellmont 1900 white shaker cabinets. Caesarstone Calacatta countertops offer a modern twist on a traditional material. Frameless medicine cabinets along with glam Hudson Valley Lighting “Thomposon” sconces and polished chrome Top Knobs Hardware and Hansgrohe plumbing fixtures keep this master bathroom modern, chic and bright.

The home includes a great room, island kitchen, dining room, library, four bedrooms, four full baths and two half-baths, and an outdoor living area with an outdoor kitchen with conversation areas. The earthy coastal design features monochromatic, tonal color elements in the backgrounds, with unique layered colors provided by the artwork and furniture fabrics. Bleached hardwood flooring creates a variety of patterns in the main living areas and cork flooring in the library brings warmth to the home. Wood beam details in both the master bedroom and great room embellish this home with the perfect amount of architectural detailing. An eclectic mixture of decorative lighting fixtures compliment the rooms in the most attractive way. The overall ambiance is one of light Florida living with an air of casual, barefoot elegance.

An overdyed rug in tones of charcoal grey and violet covers a walnut stained hardwood floor, setting the stage for the inventive use of purples and mixed metals found in this traditional living room. Elegant gold accents abound. Sapphire blue and white striped silk draperies hang from silver rods affixed with gold rings that echo the gold frame of the sofa and marble cocktail table. The gold thread continues onto the side tables, whose mahogany stain adds depth and coordinates with the espresso frames of the lounge chairs, which have been upholstered in a lavender tone-on-tone floral. Resting on the dark grey crushed velvet of the sofa are a pair of floral pillows in shades of white, grey, purple, and blue. These pillows partner with two flame stitched navy and turquoise pillows that are accented with a turquoise striped velvet. Adding additional watery blue are a pair of aqua porcelain lamps topped with crisp white shades.
