My biggest embarrassment is Joan Crawford-esque plastic on every part of our upholstered furniture that Nacho can get his jaws around. We spent hours pinning it to all the upholstered furniture in the house after the cat savaged our old couch. Photo © Bethany Nauert

Inspiration for a mid-sized tropical backyard patio remodel in Dallas with a gazebo

Sometimes, the smallest projects are the most rewarding. I designed this small front porch for a client in Fort Mitchell, KY. My client lived for years with a ragged front porch and awning embarrassed by her front entry. We refurbished and extended the concrete stoop, added a new hand rail, and most importantly a new covered entry. The design enhances the architecture of the house welcoming guests and keeping them dry. Pictures By: Ashli Slawter

Inspiration for a southwestern bathroom remodel in Phoenix

Before renovating, this bright and airy family kitchen was small, cramped and dark. The dining room was being used for spillover storage, and there was hardly room for two cooks in the kitchen. By knocking out the wall separating the two rooms, we created a large kitchen space with plenty of storage, space for cooking and baking, and a gathering table for kids and family friends. The dark navy blue cabinets set apart the area for baking, with a deep, bright counter for cooling racks, a tiled niche for the mixer, and pantries dedicated to baking supplies. The space next to the beverage center was used to create a beautiful eat-in dining area with an over-sized pendant and provided a stunning focal point visible from the front entry. By installing White Macaubas Quartzite countertops, these homeowner's were able to obtain the look of marble without its porous qualities and maintenance. These natural stone countertops complement the polished Calacata Gold marble and glass Toledo pattern mosaic tile backsplash wonderfully, making it stand out like an art piece. We partnered with DPM Designs, LLC of Medford, NJ on this project.
