Sweeney Design Remodel turned an aged and uninviting space into a bright and cheery kitchen. The kitchen was updated with new stainless steel appliances, including a stainless steel range hood. The dark cabinets were replaced with white custom cabinetry, topped with granite countertops, and complemented with a striking blue-gray ceramic tile backsplash. To further brighten the kitchen, the walls were accented with flattering blue-gray wall paint. New red oak hardwood flooring gave the kitchen a chic, modern look without dramatically altering the coziness the homeowners wanted to preserve in their home. The ceiling can lights, under-cabinet lighting, and two focal-point pendants above the island addressed needs for both general and task lighting.

These evergreen shrubs sport bright green leaves and, in spring, bring vibrant white flowers; in fall, they offer up crimson red fruits (berries) that last all through winter and are especially fine in December. In fact, they make great Christmas or Thanksgiving hostess gifts as they are slow growers that are ideal starting out in pots and containers. This compact tack room combines practical equestrian storage with the comfort of a private country lounge. Warm knotty-pine walls wrap the space, while black-trimmed casement windows frame views of the paddock and provide cross-light from two directions. Saddles, bridles, and riding equipment are displayed as functional objects against the wood, balanced by a deep green tufted-leather sofa, a traditional patterned rug, and a slender floor lamp. The red herringbone brick floor extends the barn’s durable material language indoors, while burgundy and cream pillows add controlled color accents to the green, amber, and brown palette. The style mixes rustic utility, English country-house comfort, and classic sporting-club character. The soft furnishings and richly patinated materials make the room feel personal and lived-in—a warm place to pause, prepare, and reconnect after a ride.
