Copper is a prevalent material in this expansive kitchen for both the pots and accessories. The black base and ceiling moldings accentuate and mirror the black trim of the cabinets. The oven deep and dark is a dramatic focal point of the kitchen.

It’s about a shoemaker sometimes having no shoes. One day our own interior designer, Nathan Drewes, took a hard look at the guest suite in the dependency of his hundred-sixty-year-old house. What he saw made him aesthetically tank. While there may have been a few pieces of beloved family furniture, everything else looked dowdy, dusty, even drab. Tout suite he went right to the cobbler’s bench to reimagine the rooms. Clearly a few random patches weren’t going to be enough. The space needed total transformation. He realized a slick minimalist look would never work in those old rooms or make sense with the rest of the house. To be honest, it really didn’t reflect his taste anyway. Nathan happened to have a budding neo-classical collection, begun while still in college. For some time he had been itching to reassemble it in an appropriate setting. Despite being a millennial, his instincts led him to evoke a reverie of a luxury-loving 19th century New Orleans gentleman. Inspired by strong palettes of the past and textured interiors, he salvaged curtains and carpets from a former apartment in Lyon, found a local artisan to frame a batch of early 19th century engravings, selected rich feeling fabrics, and splurged on interesting lighting. The results are anything but drab. With rooms that conjure a shaded feeling against the intrusive tropic sun, the effect is dense with polished woods, lush with fabrics. Our client spared no expense on this beautiful project, using massive rock slab steps on both sides of the house leading to the expansive back yard. The front utilizes natural rock for accents, address rock, and raised planters. We also used concrete edge as well as imported a 20mm aggregate from a quarry in BC for the beds to better match the house. A large paver patio in the back is the foundation for the gas custom fire pit and a dry river bed at the low spot carries any sheet drainage out the back to the natural area outside the property.

A unique home bar we designed in a triangular shape for maximum accessibility. With large pass-through windows and extravagant engravings, this is the ultimate home bar for large gatherings! The Schaefer Residence is situated in Richmond's prestigious Broadmoor area. The exterior is inspired by French Renaissance Revival architecture exuding elegance and grandeur.

This was the last house on the block to get landscaped and had absolutely no access. We had to hire a crane to both bring in machines and pallets of materials as well as bring back out our machines on the final day. Crazy but worked perfectly!!! Natural Rundle rock retaining walls and steps along with concrete edging and landscape lighting with some well thought out plantings made this a truly fun job that was quite unique!

Beautiful glass enclosed wine room that is not refrigerated. It displays the clients best wines and tequila and is an aesthetic ambiance work of art for the entire home. Atypical blue paint was used on this "spider" design with acrylic shelves so bottles look as they are floating. A central lighted tasting counter, glass holder and engraved stool makes this piece that more unique.

Picking up the color theme of silver and ivory from the rug motif, we anchored the light, airy feel to the dark modern lines of the antique Chinese table (a family heirloom), and the French look of the new piece at the end of the room, which functions as a bar server with lit glass shelves for liquor and glasses, and drawers lined in felt for flatware storage. The wood of both dark pieces was carefully matched to avoid disparity. The style were already enough variance. The intricately framed mirrors between the windows reflect light from the chandelier back into the room. The small framed items next to the large French piece are antique engravings from Europe matted in an old velvet. I love the opulence of the puddles on the drapery. Not overdone, but discreet.

A well planned out kitchen that has work and entertainment spaces which are well lit so they may be highly functional. Juno custom lighting placed to the client and designers preferences make this a very functional space. Lutron lighting control will allow for personalization by the owner, which is managed by strategically placed custom engraved keypads.

Details such as custom engraved keypads with programmed scene control distinguish luxury automated homes. This Vantage Keypad has been customized with various room scenes and back-lighting colors in teal and blue to tell whether a scene is off or on.
