For this project, the goals were straight forward - a low energy, low maintenance home that would allow the "60 something couple” time and money to enjoy all their interests. Accessibility was also important since this is likely their last home. In the end the style is minimalist, but the raw, natural materials add texture that give the home a warm, inviting feeling. The home has R-67.5 walls, R-90 in the attic, is extremely air tight (0.4 ACH) and is oriented to work with the sun throughout the year. As a result, operating costs of the home are minimal. The HVAC systems were chosen to work efficiently, but not to be complicated. They were designed to perform to the highest standards, but be simple enough for the owners to understand and manage. The owners spend a lot of time camping and traveling and wanted the home to capture the same feeling of freedom that the outdoors offers. The spaces are practical, easy to keep clean and designed to create a free flowing space that opens up to nature beyond the large triple glazed Passive House windows. Built-in cubbies and shelving help keep everything organized and there is no wasted space in the house - Enough space for yoga, visiting family, relaxing, sculling boats and two home offices. The most frequent comment of visitors is how relaxed they feel. This is a result of the unique connection to nature, the abundance of natural materials, great air quality, and the play of light throughout the house. The exterior of the house is simple, but a striking reflection of the local farming environment. The materials are low maintenance, as is the landscaping. This custom coffee table was inspired by the Senufo people of West Africa. They are the pioneers of this building style and are renowned across Africa for the simplicity and elegance of their design. One of the most exciting aspects of operating a custom furniture business is getting to build furniture in a variety of designs and traditions. This was true of this project, and we enjoyed creating something so unique and storied. The top of this coffee table is made of solid mahogany, while the legs are built from locally sourced California Live Oak. Both the tabletop and the legs are hand carved to give them their distinct, traditional rustic aesthetic. This coffee table was handcrafted by local artisans in San Diego, California.

Kitchen construction is often better organized and generally costs less. This is because we recommend general contractors free of charge. They supervise construction from scheduling to completion. This eliminates a middleman, reduces delays, and eliminates the fees that almost all showrooms and home centers charge their customers. We are also happy to work with any contractor a customer finds on their own. If we haven’t worked with that contractor before they may need more of our direction, but both companies can benefit from working together and possibly referring each other in the future. Less problems arise, and if they do, they are handled more quickly. This is because every kitchen we sell is reviewed by at least 3 kitchen designers during the ordering process. This is a project that we worked on in a gorgeous home located in Carmel, Indiana. The style is a mix of transitional, Restoration Hardware and glamour. The interior design of the home flows from each room providing a style connection within the spaces. This is accomplished with the use of similar color palette and furniture style. The homeowner has a knack of interior design and decorated the home. We worked with her with the window fashions, upholstery and pillows. The white shutters come in a variety of soothing colors and stains and are a perfect solution for specialty shaped windows.
