Photography by Patrick Ray With a footprint of just 450 square feet, this micro residence embodies minimalism and elegance through efficiency. Particular attention was paid to creating spaces that support multiple functions as well as innovative storage solutions. A mezzanine-level sleeping space looks down over the multi-use kitchen/living/dining space as well out to multiple view corridors on the site. To create a expansive feel, the lower living space utilizes a bifold door to maximize indoor-outdoor connectivity, opening to the patio, endless lap pool, and Boulder open space beyond. The home sits on a ¾ acre lot within the city limits and has over 100 trees, shrubs and grasses, providing privacy and meditation space. This compact home contains a fully-equipped kitchen, ¾ bath, office, sleeping loft and a subgrade storage area as well as detached carport.

When the owner and engineer at High Fidelity Mastering in Albuquerque, NM began building his ultimate dream home-studio, he called on ListenUp to help. The 1,260-square-foot facility was designed from the ground up as a dual use room - an audio mastering/restoration facility, and a 9.1.4 Dolby Atmos private theater. The building was constructed by General Contractor Tom Nelson of T-Squared Construction. All acoustic treatments were installed by Jeff Matasso of Specialty Acoustical Solutions out of Dallas, TX, using special acoustical materials and diffusor panels by pArtScience (another Russ Berger company). The analog and digital mastering equipment is by Legendary Audio, TC Electronic, Manley and Weiss. The customer already owned two Bowers & Wilkins 800 Series floorstanding speakers, as well as a McIntosh preamp/processor and amps previously purchased from ListenUp. For this project we did all the wiring and installed an Epson LS10000 laser projector, a 135-inch Stewart Screen, a new B&W 800 D3 Series center channel and CCM 8.5 speakers for all the surround and overhead speakers, as well as motorized shades from HunterDouglas. This luxurious living room is well equipped for a fantastic conversation or a great show on TV. Natural elements are paired with silver and gold to add visual value. The room is just layers of yummy textures! The oversized rug is made from broadloom carpet that we had cut and bound at exactly the size we wanted.

This home owner chose to build straight from Timber Block's Dakota model (with a few modifications). This home owner built this home on their dream property, as a second home. The Dakota has all the appeal of a log home, without the maintenance and hassle of a traditional log home. Equipped with R-30 wall insulation, which is standard in every home built by Timber Block, this family stays cozy in the winter, and cool in the summer, without paying the price.

Jolynn Johnson, owner of CK+B, gained 2 hours to her day by moving 3 blocks from the showroom. A 1961 rambler was gutted and remodeled to accommodate a simpler lifestyle and 55 plus living. Every room changed location as she designed this home to fit her needs now and in the future The living room did stay in the same location, however 18” were taken from a bedroom to add the Fireplace/ Entertainment center. It started with the 4’ horizontal gas fireplace and a niche above for the TV. The tile surround is both wood stone white marble above the hearth and chocolate marble on the hearth and below. Walnut cabinets flank both sides of the fireplace for storage of media equipment and floating shelves above The bookcases in this room needed to be the same size as the bookcase in my previous home. I love decorating for Christmas and I have hundreds of Santa’s and a large village. My husband made styrofoam scenes for each shelf, which made setting up the houses and lighting so much easier. I wanted to replicate the bookshelves so he didn’t need to remake the entire scene, but again I didn’t want the same look-more contemporary. The design ended up with floating shelves of walnut wood. Each shelf has its own outlet and puck light to a switch (a lesson learned about how to get everything plugged in without cords between the shelves.) Below with cabinets for storage.
