This 4,000-square foot home is located in the Silverstrand section of Hermosa Beach, known for its fabulous restaurants, walkability and beach access. Stylistically, it’s coastal-meets-traditional, complete with 4 bedrooms, 5.5 baths, a 3-stop elevator and a roof deck with amazing ocean views. The client, an art collector, wanted bold color and unique aesthetic choices. In the living room, the built-in shelving is lined in luminescent mother of pearl. The dining area’s custom hand-blown chandelier was made locally and perfectly diffuses light. The client’s former granite-topped dining table didn’t fit the size and shape of the space, so we cut the granite and built a new base and frame around it. The bedrooms are full of organic materials and personal touches, such as the light raffia wall-covering in the master bedroom and the fish-painted end table in a college-aged son’s room—a nod to his love of surfing. Detail is always important, but especially to this client, so we searched for the perfect artisans to create one-of-a kind pieces. Several light fixtures were commissioned by an International glass artist. These include the white, layered glass pendants above the kitchen island, and the stained glass piece in the hallway, which glistens blues and greens through the window overlooking the front entrance of the home. The overall feel of the house is peaceful but not complacent, full of tiny surprises and energizing pops of color.

Our client's father hand crafted and build this model ship more than a generation ago. Inheriting this true work of art after his passing, she wanted to display it in an honorable manor. So we contacted Robert, owner of Old World Furniture in Bolingbrook, Illinois, and commissioned him to make us a shelf built to hold such a king's ransom. And that he did. Ark Woodworking was commissioned to create cabinetry in two niches and a fireplace surround. the living room was narrow which required the mantle to be custom built to suit the space. It also correlated well with the built ins. The doors are especially custom. The crown was custom matched to the kitchen in order to crown the entire room in one style. This exceptional room has 20+ foot ceilings, so the clients wanted a large mantle to suit the space. Both designed by Ark Woodworking and Decor and You, we were able to meet all the needs of the client. Also the designer built the hearth out, and added tile work. This beautiful tribute to this hand crafted vessel is comprised of 4 different wood species, multiple hand carving techniques, and a hand rubbed finish. It measures 49 inches wide, 17 inches deep, 27 inches tall, and weighs approximately 22 pounds. We recently completed cabinetry for this contemporary kitchen and bathroom in Sturgeon Bay. For this project we were commissioned to produce and install Black Walnut Cabinetry. The doors and drawers are horizontal grain black walnut veneer slab doors. The cabinetry exhibits our capability to produce cabinetry using European Frameless design. The cabinet construction and door selection mate well with the beautiful granite countertops, polished concrete floor, stainless steel appliances, and minimalist design to create a modern sleek kitchen. We also created a floating double vanity for the owner's master bath which was capped with a beautiful soapstone countertop. Wall mount faucets, and a lovely pair of teak mirrors provide the finishing touches. This was a fun project from beginning to end!
