We transformed a small closet in our clients Kitchen into a spacious walk in pantry. In this custom-designed white painted cabinet kitchen, we created a utilitarian serving space with standard drawers and pullout basket drawers complete with electrical outlets for toaster and coffee maker. Taking the shelves to the ceiling, the space efficient wrap around corner shelves expand the storage options in a small space. Double doors serve to hide the pantry storage space when not in use.

Klopf Architecture’s client, a family of four with young children, wanted to update their recently purchased home to meet their growing needs across generations. It was essential to maintain the mid-century modern style throughout the project but most importantly, they wanted more natural light brought into the dark kitchen and cramped bathrooms while creating a smoother connection between the kitchen, dining and family room. The kitchen was expanded into the dining area, using part of the original kitchen area as a butler's pantry. With the main kitchen brought out into an open space with new larger windows and two skylights the space became light, open, and airy. Custom cabinetry from Henrybuilt throughout the kitchen and butler's pantry brought functionality to the space. Removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room, and widening the opening from the dining room to the living room created a more open and natural flow between the spaces. New redwood siding was installed in the entry foyer to match the original siding in the family room so it felt original to the house and consistent between the spaces. Oak flooring was installed throughout the house enhancing the movement between the new kitchen and adjacent areas. The two original bathrooms felt dark and cramped so they were expanded and also feature larger windows, modern fixtures and new Heath tile throughout. Custom vanities also from Henrybuilt bring a unified look and feel from the kitchen into the new bathrooms. Designs included plans for a future in-law unit to accommodate the needs of an older generation. The house is much brighter, feels more unified with wider open site lines that provide the family with a better transition and seamless connection between spaces. There are six more steps leading to new sunroom from mudroom with high ceiling and tucked in away from rest of the house. This give the kids to have their own multi- purpose game room and future sunroom. Equipped with a ductless HVAC system this sunroom can be climate controlled separately from rest of the house. The seamless connection of exterior brick, siding, roofing made this addition as if it was always there. All power and cables where relocated allowing placement of this addition

The Arlington II Expanded floor plan is a four bedroom home with an upstairs primary suite. Plan details include a two-story foyer, a trey ceiling in the dining room, a double trey ceiling in the primary bedroom, and a vaulted ceiling in bedroom #2. The kitchen, breakfast area, and large family room share an open layout that is very family-friendly and great for entertaining. 9' ceilings on the first floor are standard on this plan. All bedrooms are good-sized, and have very spacious closets. The primary suite includes a luxury bath layout, and additional bath upgrades are available, including a 7' vanity option on this plan. The utility room is located upstairs for convenience. Exterior detailing includes a metal-roofed covered entry, sidelights and transoms around the front door, shake siding accents, arch over the garage door, and sidelights on the foyer window.

Particular attention was paid to creating spaces that support multiple functions as well as innovative storage solutions. A mezzanine-level sleeping space looks down over the multi-use kitchen/living/dining space as well out to multiple view corridors on the site. To create a expansive feel, the lower living space utilizes a bifold door to maximize indoor-outdoor connectivity, opening to the patio, endless lap pool, and Boulder open space beyond. The home sits on a ¾ acre lot within the city limits and has over 100 trees, shrubs and grasses, providing privacy and meditation space. This compact home contains a fully-equipped kitchen, ¾ bath, office, sleeping loft and a subgrade storage area as well as detached carport.
