Architectural Plastics was contracted by Jean-Charles Boisset, the new owner of the historic Oakville Grocery, to turn a walk-in freezer into a light and airy wine cellar. The goal was to create a modern wine cellar that kept some of the industrial feel of the freezer. The ceiling and one wall of the cellar were left with the original patinated metal lining of the freezer. Industrial ceiling lights were added as an aesthetic accompaniment to the exposed metal. The original flooring was also left in place. Reclaimed wood toe kicks were added to bring in some warmth and tie in with the external wood-framed windows of the room. Architectural Plastics then clad one wall in floor to ceiling LED panels with a 5000K color temperature to brighten the space up. The LED panels are a great compliment to Architectural Plastics' clear acrylic wine rack line because they make the racks glow and almost vanish. Some additional white acrylic panels were added to hide the remaining metal walls of the cellar and act as signage for the store. Several acrylic wine racks were then designed, made and installed by Architectural Plastics. This stunning space is an excellent example of the versatility of clear acrylic to blend with any design aesthetic.

Our handcrafted steel structure was meticulously welded then galvanized and powder coated for a finish that will last for generations. This platform will allow safe, easy and enjoyable access to any swim spa. Topped off with a horizontal cable rail this mezzanine is both modern and attractive.

Designed by architect Alexandru Cristian, Accoya was recommended by distributor Tecade for use in the construction of the building, which needed to be aesthetically pleasing as well as highly durable in order to withstand the country’s extreme climate. Tecade recommended the use of Accoya to ensure that the building would sit sympathetically within its natural surroundings, while also maintaining its structural integrity against the harsh environment. Originally Accoya was specified solely to construct the windows and the terrace. However, due to its aesthetic appeal, both the owner and the architect decided to use Accoya for all applications throughout the home including the façade, interior doors, indoor and outdoor furniture, terrace, garage door and railings. The architect specified 28mm by 150mm of Accoya for the outdoor terrace and constructed the terrace furniture using around 1 cubic meters of Accoya to build 3 tables and 36 chairs for external use. This project was an external steel staircase with timber treads that was originally designed by the owner. We then shop drew it to his balustrade design and manufactured all the steel. There were two big challenges with this project: angles and installation. For the design, we had to find the right angles and match them exactly in order to have the staircase fit where it needed to go. Then we had to be tactful in our installation to work around the trees to keep them intact. We used a small crane to lift as the steel balustrades were quite heavy and avoid the small tree.

The music room is complete with a ductless heat pump and sound proof walls and ceiling. The windows were placed up high to bring in natural light but keep prying eyes from seeing the gear in the studio.

A single-family detached house and its garden form a whole together with the nature. That building, dated back to 90s, has been completely renovated and now it overlooks from Chia hill the surrounding view: a slice of heaven where bays and small coves, with the green of Mediterranean scrub on top, get lost in the blue of the see. Bougainvillea, ivy, begonia climb up the split stoned outside walls and the pillars. The barbecue area, protected by the wooden pergola, has been recreated to enjoy outdoors convivial meals. The living room, with a wide sliding glass window, overlooks the spacious veranda, the garden and the breathtaking view. The refined materials, like the Cerasarda ceramic flooring, create a continuity between the garden area and the external courtyard emphasising light and colours of nature. Other remarkable features of the villa are: the first floor staircase covered with hand made Cerasarda ceramic and the Mediterranean style bathrooms. The internal and external lighting is studied to create light games and suggestive sceneries. The total white, that prevailed in the interior of the house, is contrasted by earth colours. The white and coloured linen curtains frame the magic of the surrounding view. The wrought-iron skilfully arranged in the internal handrail and in the external balustrade reproduces the sinuosity of a climbing ranch. The demotics employed makes the villa and its garden totally manageable with a tablet: creating personalised light scenery, managing the air-conditioning of the rooms and the irrigation of the garden.
