I was hired by my previous employer, Corvallis Custom Kitchens and Baths to assist these homeowners with all of the materials, fixtures and finish choices to complete this master bathroom remodel.
Brian Egan, owner and designer at CCKB in Sept 2017, since retired), designed this aging-in-place, accessible shower (previously a shower and separate soaker tub) for the clients who reside in an over 55 community here in Corvallis.
Large format 12x24 unpolished Crossville Kosmos Moonstruck tile was chosen for the bathroom floor and the shower walls to minimize grout lines. For the shower floor/pan small 1x1 DalTile Keystones Marble color tile was used to aid in making the floor feel extra slip resistant as the Keystones tiles do not have grittier feeling surface than porcelain tile.
For safety and a non-industrial look, Moen Align chrome designer grab bars were installed in the shower and toilet room. The handshower and rainshower head system by Grohe beautifully combines the 2 systems in one unit called Retrofit 160. To allow the homeowners to turn the shower on and warm up without them having to step in the direct spray of the shower head, the controls were placed under the window near the shower entry. This would also allow a helper to assist anyone using the shower in the future should the need arise.
A linear drain was installed to pull water away from the zero threshold shower entry. Installing a linear shower drain allows for a no threshold shower which can allow for the shower to be accessible with a walker or roll-in with a wheelchair as the shower was designed almost 40" wide.
The homeowners were thrilled with the transformation of their bathroom. The design and material choices fit their tastes and needs perfectly. Now they can continue to age in place and not worry about how they would be able to bathe if something were to decrease their mobility.

Access to the Master Bathroom is made easy from the kitchen/laundry area. Upon entering the bathroom, the roll up sink and medicine cabinet are easily accessible. There is wainscoting wall protection that is carried in from the adjacent hallway that easily blends with wainscoting height tile in the bathroom as well. The toilet is extra high comfort height and sits at 21" so that access from the wheelchair is easiest. There is a linen cabinet across from the toilet that provides for drawers for bathroom items and supplies and for linens and towels on top. The shower threshold could not be eliminated, so we extended the shower bench over 21" into the bathroom floor so that easy transfer could be made from the wheelchair onto the bench in the bathroom, The handheld shower is located within easy reach of the bench with all bathing supplies conveniently located in an easily accessible niche. Although not all grab bars are shown here, there is one at the sink to help her stand up, a pull down bar near the toilet, a vertical bar to help standing up from the toilets, an angled bar from the bench to stand up and a horizontal and vertical grab bar in the shower itself. Note that we selected the basic grab bar to install over any designer grab bar for maximum safety and comfort. From the Master Bath, a hallway leads to the closet and the Master Bedroom. We widened the hallway to access the closet to 42" wide, and increased the size of the door to enter the closet from 24" to 36" and eliminated the door to improve overall access. The closet was built in and provides for all her items that were previously in a dresser in her bedroom. This way, she can go into the closet and get all items needed to dress without going back into the bedroom for undergarments.

In this 2024 build, our clients wanted a bathroom reimagined for easy access in and out of the shower, with thoughtful features like safety bars, a Toto toilet, and a seamless design to last for years to come. We ensured the space was not only aesthetically pleasing but also incredibly functional, incorporating modern fixtures and finishes that meet their evolving needs.
Another feature of this remodel is the heated towel rack, providing extra comfort and luxury. The sleek, wall-mounted faucets and double sinks add a contemporary touch, while glass shower has a wide opening making it easy to access - this thoughtful design makes it both beautiful and practical. We also included custom cabinetry in a natural wood finish, adding warmth and storage without compromising the clean, modern aesthetic.
Our goal is to create spaces that support our clients' desires to live in their homes for as long as possible, combining style with essential functionality. If you’re looking to update your home, whether for aging in place, accessibility improvements, a growing family, or just a much-needed refresh, we’re here to discuss your options. This Timber Tech low maintenance platform deck creates a very open area in the backyard. These homeowners love to entertain and wanted to have plenty of space and extra seating; Archadeck designed the deck with floating benches so they would have plenty of seating without taking up too much room on the rest of the deck. The Timber Tech decking was chosen in Rustic Elm with an accent of Sandy Birch, really making the project pop! The lighting on the stairs is a great safety feature so the homeowners can enjoy the deck in the evening. This Timber Tech deck was custom designed and built by Morton Grove, IL deck designer, Archadeck of Chicagoland.

This inviting backyard transformation in Scripps Ranch features a beautifully designed stone walkway leading to an elevated fire pit patio. The custom retaining wall creates structure and dimension while doubling as extra seating. Thoughtful planting with succulents, flowering accents, and mature trees softens the space and brings seasonal color. Integrated landscape lighting enhances the pathway and highlights key features, ensuring the yard is just as functional and welcoming at night. A perfect example of California outdoor living blending natural textures with modern design.

Improve your bedroom decor with the perfect area rug, a crucial element that can define the style and comfort of your space. From luxurious textures to practical features, the right rug can elevate your bedroom and tie the entire look together.
For a touch of elegance and artisanal quality, hand-tufted and hand-knotted rugs offer exceptional craftsmanship. Hand-knotted rugs, known for their intricate patterns and durability, bring a timeless charm that can complement both traditional and modern interiors.
If you prefer a more contemporary and practical solution, machine-woven rugs are an excellent choice. These rugs come in a variety of modern designs and are often heat-set to enhance their durability. Many are machine washable, making them easy to maintain while providing a stylish addition to your bedroom.
For a versatile and lightweight option, consider flat-woven rugs such as kilims. Their reversible design and textured surface make them suitable for various decor styles, while their ease of maintenance adds to their appeal. Hand-loomed rugs also offer unique textures and a handcrafted quality that can add a special touch to your space.
If comfort is your priority, shag and flokati rugs are perfect for creating a plush, cozy environment. Their long, soft fibers provide a luxurious feel underfoot, making them ideal for a relaxing bedroom retreat. Similarly, cushioned rugs add extra comfort and can make your bedroom feel even more inviting.
Explore the charm of braided and hand-hooked rugs for a touch of rustic or artisanal flair. These rugs bring a handcrafted quality and unique texture that can enhance your bedroom's character. After us completing a beautiful Basement renovation for them a few years ago, our returning clients approached us again. This time, to renovate their dated 70’s Bathroom to maximize functionality, and to meet their personal needs.
Through careful planning, we were able to create and rework the Bathroom floor plan to create a spacious and comfortable space.
To create extra storage space, a vanity with recessed tall cabinets was custom-built. Existing load-bearing walls did not allow for a barn door. Instead, a swing shaker-style door was installed, and a curved countertop was used on the vanity to ensure easy entrance into the room. The vanity doors were finished in white, which perfectly complimented the white quartz countertop to provide a clean and modern look. The chrome faucet of the vessel sink matches the chrome outline of the medicine cabinet nicely.
The shower with a glass enclosure features a luxurious rain head shower, and grab bars on each wall provide comfort and support. Marbled tile flooring and shower walls provide a seamless look.
Overall, these personalized updates have increased functionality, safety, and comfort for our clients, creating a home that is unmistakably theirs.
