Original artwork by Tiffany Bozic. More on the rug: This hand-woven kilim is a multi-colored stripe in a light wool. Like many vintage rugs woven in a weaver's home, kilims tend to be narrow and long rather than wide and square. To make their size more amenable to a living area, weavers will actually weave TWO pieces, and then sew them together in the middles. It is certainly not a technique you find in modern rugs and is all the more evidence of the tradition, craft and culture that goes into making handmade rugs.

This new residential home provides a resort-like environment for family and friends. Design features include a unique swimming pool design, a rock grotto with waterfall, custom tiled spas, a splash park, koi ponds, and a tennis court. Herb and edible gardens surround an outdoor dining pavilion. Central lawn space creates space for games and informal play. Stone paving materials and custom bronze work provide elegant and durable finishes.

A number of deep boulders are set along the shore line to encourage wading by visitors and sunning by the frogs and turtles which have made their home in the pond.

For this project, our client came to us looking for a full-service company to build a custom, high-efficient new home with minimal exterior maintenance. In order to achieve this, we used a different medium of product, including split-faced concrete block to natural cedar siding, both of which require zero maintenance. The design throughout was congruent with the contemporary farmhouse aesthetic and highly-efficient goal of the client and adhering to the energy standards of Efficiency Vermont. A few of the features included a finished concrete floor, a cutting-edge wood-fired boiler system to efficiently heat the home.
