Current Master Bathroom is very outdated. Client wanted to create a spa feel keeping it mid century modern style as the rest of their home. The bathroom is small so a spacious feeling was important. There is a window they wanted to focus on. A walk in shower was a must that eventually would accomodate an easy walk in as they aged.

If you are googling about picking wall art for your home, then you probably fall into one of two categories. Either your walls are way too bare, or they're smothered in outdated and generic artwork that doesn't represent you anymore! Don’t worry – neither of these situations have to last forever, and there are plenty of stylish ways to make sure that your personality gets to shine in your room decor as well as in the rest of your life! Just follow these 8 wall art ideas from our bedroom designer below, and get ready to be the star of your own show!
1) Blank Walls can be Fun
If you're online researching how to buy any sort of wall art for your home, then you fall into one of two categories. It seems either your walls are bare, or your art isn't fitting. Either way, it doesn't represent you! But blank walls don’t have to be boring. In fact, they can be a canvas for you to express your unique personality.
2) Create an eye-catching Statement Piece
A big, bold piece of wall art is the perfect way to make a statement in your room. But if you’re not careful, it can also look like you’re trying too hard. The key is to find a piece that reflects your personality and style, without being too over-the-top.
3) Hang something Larger than Life
Go big or go home, right? Especially when it comes to wall art. Hanging a large piece of artwork will make a huge impact in your room. It’ll be the first thing people see when they walk in, and it’ll set the tone for the rest of your decor. Plus, it’s a great way to fill up a large wall space. Just make sure you pick a piece that you really love – you’ll be looking at it every day. For further Inspiration you can check out Wall Art Ideas from Unique-Canvas.com to decorate your Room.
4) Use a Vibrant Focal Point
A focal point is a great way to add drama and interest to a room. It can be anything from a piece of wall art to a piece of furniture. In this case, we’re going to focus on wall art. A vibrant focal point will add color and life to your room. Making a statement and displaying your personality is easy with this.
5) Smaller is Better
People often make the mistake of thinking that they need large, expensive pieces of art to fill up a large, empty wall. But the truth is, sometimes all you need is a small piece of art that packs a big punch. A small piece of art can be more intimate and personal, and it can also be less expensive. So if you’re looking for wall art ideas that are both unique and budget-friendly, try looking for smaller pieces!
6) Get Personal
When it comes to wall art, the most important thing is that it speaks to you on a personal level. You should let your home reflect who you are and what you love!
7) Adorn yourself with Soulful Quotes
A great way to show off your personality is with soulful quotes. Pick out a few of your favourites and have them printed on canvas. You can hang them up in your room or office as a daily reminder of what’s important to you.
8) Add some Colourful Décor Pieces
A blank wall is like a blank canvas—it’s begging to be filled with something colorful and eye-catching! That said, if you're still unsure of where to start, don't worry. We’ve got eight wall art ideas that will help you decorate your room and bring out your personality.
Final Thought
No matter what your style is, you can find wall art that represents you. The key is to take your time searching for the right piece, and don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone.

The homeowners of this condo sought our assistance when downsizing from a large family home on Howe Sound to a small urban condo in Lower Lonsdale, North Vancouver. They asked us to incorporate many of their precious antiques and art pieces into the new design. Our challenges here were twofold; first, how to deal with the unconventional curved floor plan with vast South facing windows that provide a 180 degree view of downtown Vancouver, and second, how to successfully merge an eclectic collection of antique pieces into a modern setting. We began by updating most of their artwork with new matting and framing. We created a gallery effect by grouping like artwork together and displaying larger pieces on the sections of wall between the windows, lighting them with black wall sconces for a graphic effect. We re-upholstered their antique seating with more contemporary fabrics choices - a gray flannel on their Victorian fainting couch and a fun orange chenille animal print on their Louis style chairs. We selected black as an accent colour for many of the accessories as well as the dining room wall to give the space a sophisticated modern edge. The new pieces that we added, including the sofa, coffee table and dining light fixture are mid century inspired, bridging the gap between old and new. White walls and understated wallpaper provide the perfect backdrop for the colourful mix of antique pieces. Interior Design by Lori Steeves, Simply Home Decorating. Inspiration for a large country single-wall porcelain tile, gray floor and wood ceiling open concept kitchen remodel in Other with an undermount sink, flat-panel cabinets, dark wood cabinets, quartz countertops, white backsplash, quartz backsplash, stainless steel appliances, an island and white countertops

For this couple, planning to move back to their rambler home in Arlington after living overseas for few years, they were ready to get rid of clutter, clean up their grown-up kids’ boxes, and transform their home into their dream home for their golden years.
The old home included a box-like 8 feet x 10 feet kitchen, no family room, three small bedrooms and two back to back small bathrooms. The laundry room was located in a small dark space of the unfinished basement.
This home is located in a cul-de-sac, on an uphill lot, of a very secluded neighborhood with lots of new homes just being built around them.
The couple consulted an architectural firm in past but never were satisfied with the final plans. They approached Michael Nash Custom Kitchens hoping for fresh ideas.
The backyard and side yard are wooded and the existing structure was too close to building restriction lines. We developed design plans and applied for special permits to achieve our client’s goals.
The remodel includes a family room, sunroom, breakfast area, home office, large master bedroom suite, large walk-in closet, main level laundry room, lots of windows, front porch, back deck, and most important than all an elevator from lower to upper level given them and their close relative a necessary easier access.
The new plan added extra dimensions to this rambler on all four sides. Starting from the front, we excavated to allow a first level entrance, storage, and elevator room. Building just above it, is a 12 feet x 30 feet covered porch with a leading brick staircase. A contemporary cedar rail with horizontal stainless steel cable rail system on both the front porch and the back deck sets off this project from any others in area. A new foyer with double frosted stainless-steel door was added which contains the elevator.
The garage door was widened and a solid cedar door was installed to compliment the cedar siding.
The left side of this rambler was excavated to allow a storage off the garage and extension of one of the old bedrooms to be converted to a large master bedroom suite, master bathroom suite and walk-in closet.
We installed matching brick for a seam-less exterior look.
The entire house was furnished with new Italian imported highly custom stainless-steel windows and doors. We removed several brick and block structure walls to put doors and floor to ceiling windows.
A full walk in shower with barn style frameless glass doors, double vanities covered with selective stone, floor to ceiling porcelain tile make the master bathroom highly accessible.
The other two bedrooms were reconfigured with new closets, wider doorways, new wood floors and wider windows. Just outside of the bedroom, a new laundry room closet was a major upgrade.
A second HVAC system was added in the attic for all new areas.
The back side of the master bedroom was covered with floor to ceiling windows and a door to step into a new deck covered in trex and cable railing. This addition provides a view to wooded area of the home.
By excavating and leveling the backyard, we constructed a two story 15’x 40’ addition that provided the tall ceiling for the family room just adjacent to new deck, a breakfast area a few steps away from the remodeled kitchen. Upscale stainless-steel appliances, floor to ceiling white custom cabinetry and quartz counter top, and fun lighting improved this back section of the house with its increased lighting and available work space. Just below this addition, there is extra space for exercise and storage room. This room has a pair of sliding doors allowing more light inside.
The right elevation has a trapezoid shape addition with floor to ceiling windows and space used as a sunroom/in-home office. Wide plank wood floors were installed throughout the main level for continuity.
The hall bathroom was gutted and expanded to allow a new soaking tub and large vanity. The basement half bathroom was converted to a full bathroom, new flooring and lighting in the entire basement changed the purpose of the basement for entertainment and spending time with grandkids.
Off white and soft tone were used inside and out as the color schemes to make this rambler spacious and illuminated.
Final grade and landscaping, by adding a few trees, trimming the old cherry and walnut trees in backyard, saddling the yard, and a new concrete driveway and walkway made this home a unique and charming gem in the neighborhood.

This fall, Amethyst had the opportunity to partner with Freeman Custom Homes of Kansas City to furnish this 5000 sq ft European Modern designed home for the Artisan Home Tour 2020!
Every square inch of this home was magical -- from the secret staircase in the master bath leading to a private shuttered plunge pool to the vaulted kitchen with sky high mushroom colored cabinetry and handmade zellige tile.
We met the builders during the cabinetry phase and watching their final, thoughtful design details evolve was such full of over-the-top surprises like the unique valet-like storage in the entry and limestone fireplace!
As soon as we saw their vision for the home, we knew our furnishings would be a great match as our design style celebrates handmade rugs, artisan handmade custom seating, old-meets-new art, and let's be honest -- we love to go big! They trusted us to do our thing on the entire main level and we enjoyed every minute.
The load in took 3 full trucks and fortunately for us -- the homeowners fell in love with several pieces so our uninstall trip was significantly lighter. I think we were all a little emotional leaving this masterpiece but sooooo happy for the owners and just hoping we get invited to a Christmas party...
Here are some of the highlights -- 90% of the furnishings and rugs were from our shop and we filled in the gaps with some extra special pieces!

Do you want to update your Living Room but cannot part with your Favorite Traditional Style Piece of furniture?
No problem! We'll show you how to blend them together!
**UPDATE** We also work with clients all over the country! Our virtual designers have experience as local and long distance design consultants. Our designers offer professional fabric and design recommendations, free estimates and have a great ability to communicate via email or phone to help conceptualize the project and see it through to the final stages. Fabric samples are mailed directly to you and we also provide easy installation guides.
We like this design because it is updating a traditional home into more of a "contemporary" look. There's a fine line when trying to accomplish this. You want the updated look to not compete with the traditional architecture of the home or an existing traditional piece of furniture that you may still want to reuse.
The living room was updated with the use of white drapery sheers and metal 1/2" blinds. The metal was tied into the space by the new coffee table, end table and metal framed art. The traditional end chair in the plaid fabric was an original piece. The chair needed help blending into the space. To accomplish this, the paisley pillows were added to the new sofa. In addition, the storage basket and rug adds a traditional-style flare to the room so the chair doesn't feel like the only traditional piece in the room.
It's also worth mentioning that the paisley fabric in the pillows have a curvature to them which is why the wave printed draperies were used.

Custom sliding barn doors are a signature project at Zoltan Design Co. The distinctive, upscale look is a stylish solution for cramped spaces while doubling as a beautiful piece of wall art. When a client considers space-saving options but also has a desire to create a chic atmosphere, custom sliding barn doors are a ZDC interior design staple for three reasons:
1. ELEGANCE AND TIMELESSNESS
Nothing serves as a better focal point than a sliding barn door. Mixing the right door with the right colors throughout the space makes décor express itself in all the right places. Zoltan Design’s custom craftsmanship will give a barn door the character it needs to stand out, which explains why it’s one of the most popular accent pieces in interior design.
2. FUNCTIONALITY THAT IS OUTSIDE OF THE ORDINARY
This style choice is an elegant way to save space due to its sliding function. For instance, this feature is creatively used to conceal laundry rooms or to hide electronics during entertaining. A custom sliding barn door is used in a multitude of ways to keep your home functional while embracing glamor and comfort.
3. WE HAVE A PASSION FOR AUTHENTICITY
Zoltan Design’s custom sliding barn doors are authentic and American-made. One of our greatest passions is working with wood, which is why we created BARN, our line of custom furniture and barn doors. It is a privilege to carefully select recycled beams, barnwood and building materials from all over the country to craft beautiful pieces for our clients.
ZOLTAN DESIGN’S CUSTOM SLIDING BARN DOORS
Christopher Ritchie, Creative Director, is one of the area’s most sought-after talents, working with clients from concept to completion. As one of our most in-demand projects, each barn door is unique, refined, and exquisitely curated for your space. Our custom sliding barn doors adorn clients’ walls as pieces of art to elevate elegance in their home. From the historic wood, to the details of the carefully crafted nail heads, Zoltan crafts a piece that reflects refined tastes.
As part of ZDC’s trademark style, the barn doors are American-made and homegrown. These storied pieces celebrate old world vintage with wood that originates from 19th-century barns across the country. Once the high-quality wood is salvaged, it is reclaimed into the lavish design that suspends in a home.
THE PROCESS
Once the space is evaluated, clients receive detailed drawings, and CAD (computer-aided design) drawings, which reveals realistic 3-D layouts of a barn door before the installation process begins. Although each project is highly individualized, a custom sliding barn door will enter its final phase in six to eight weeks
As part of this delicate process, Zoltan Design Co.’s team works with our clients throughout design and manufacturing, all the way to installation. With the ability to choose from a variety of hardware and brackets, as well as the option to incorporate glass, we create a personalized piece to enhance your essence. If you’re interested in learning more about custom sliding barn doors or if you would like to request a consultation, please contact us today.

Chistie's Beverly Hills transforms a nondescript office building into a dynamic neighbor to shops, restaurants and galleries on Camden Way. The early California style facade is inspired by the location and client's desire for the building to express a sense of history and permanence. Beverly Hills strict planning department and architectural review process was an important consideration for the facade that is inspired by buildings typical in Santa Barbara and captures the spirit of Southern California.
To achieve the authentic look for the intricate stone decorations and trim on the exterior facade was a challenge. Too often attempts at recreating similar decorations fall short. The design team researched fabricators and products and found an artisan specialized in custom glass fiber reinforced concrete, GFRC, design and construction. The decorations were developed in sketches based on the the design teams renderings. The artisans sketches were reviewed and approved before the final pieces were cast and shipped for installation by the local contractor. Custom and standard shapes are used to achieve a rich and authentic looking decoration with while controlling costs. Accenting the stonework and hand troweled plaster is the custom wrought iron work at the windows and doors. Based on drawings by the design team, a local shop designed and fabricated each piece to fit. Canvas awnings, Spanish tile roof and flag poles complete the study in vernacular architecture.

This is a Hampton Pavilion by Country Lane Woodworking was built for the McCormack Family.
The Customer said "We truly love the pavilion we sit out in the early morning with our coffee and just enjoy the beauty of it. It is the final piece to make our pool area look like it is featured in a home and gardens magazine. The setup was flawless, I could not believe that the pavilion could be assembled in 5-6 hours but it was and the installation was fantastic. I am a stickler for perfection and all the pieces fit perfectly."

This custom piece was designed and built for a primary residence in Littleton Colorado. The project features a locally sourced, kiln-dried wood slab, selected from our Denver warehouse and fabricated into a modern, one-of-a-kind design.
We collaborated closely with the design team to ensure the proportions, finish, and material details complemented the architecture and interior palette. The final piece combines natural wood character with clean lines, creating a timeless focal point within the space.
This project reflects our approach to working with interior designers, and custom home builders who are looking for distinctive materials and a trusted partner for custom wood and metal fabrication.

Combining modern with rustic was the end goal of these homeowners. Choosing gray barn siding to panel the wall, white leather sofas, and painting the ceiling rafters black give this room elegance and warmth. Using reclaimed wood to hide the two columns was the final piece of this rooms makeover.

This bathroom upgrade features a neutral palate of textural whites and gray/black. The deep soaking tub adds a touch of luxury and the patterned inlay mirror pulls the finishes together nicely.

We love it when a home becomes a family compound with wonderful history. That is exactly what this home on Mullet Lake is. The original cottage was built by our client’s father and enjoyed by the family for years. It finally came to the point that there was simply not enough room and it lacked some of the efficiencies and luxuries enjoyed in permanent residences. The cottage is utilized by several families and space was needed to allow for summer and holiday enjoyment. The focus was on creating additional space on the second level, increasing views of the lake, moving interior spaces and the need to increase the ceiling heights on the main level. All these changes led for the need to start over or at least keep what we could and add to it. The home had an excellent foundation, in more ways than one, so we started from there.
It was important to our client to create a northern Michigan cottage using low maintenance exterior finishes. The interior look and feel moved to more timber beam with pine paneling to keep the warmth and appeal of our area. The home features 2 master suites, one on the main level and one on the 2nd level with a balcony. There are 4 additional bedrooms with one also serving as an office. The bunkroom provides plenty of sleeping space for the grandchildren. The great room has vaulted ceilings, plenty of seating and a stone fireplace with vast windows toward the lake. The kitchen and dining are open to each other and enjoy the view.
The beach entry provides access to storage, the 3/4 bath, and laundry. The sunroom off the dining area is a great extension of the home with 180 degrees of view. This allows a wonderful morning escape to enjoy your coffee. The covered timber entry porch provides a direct view of the lake upon entering the home. The garage also features a timber bracketed shed roof system which adds wonderful detail to garage doors.
The home’s footprint was extended in a few areas to allow for the interior spaces to work with the needs of the family. Plenty of living spaces for all to enjoy as well as bedrooms to rest their heads after a busy day on the lake. This will be enjoyed by generations to come.
