Vetter ArchitectsA minimal insertion into a densely wooded landscape, the Collector’s Pavilion provides the owners with an 8,000 sf private fitness space and vintage automobile gallery. On a gently sloping site in amongst a grove of trees, the pavilion slides into the topography - mimicking and contrasting the surrounding landscape with a folded roof plane that hovers over a board formed concrete base.
The clients’ requirement for a nearby room to display a growing car collection as well as provide a remote area for personal fitness carries with it a series of challenges related to privacy and security. The pavilion nestles into the wooded site - finding a home in a small clearing - and merges with the sloping landscape. The building has dual personalities, serving as a private and secure bunker from the exterior, while transforming into a warm and inviting space on the interior. The use of indirect light and the need to obscure direct views from the public right away provides the client with adequate day light for day-to-day use while ensuring that strict privacy is maintained. This shifting personality is also dramatically affected by the seasons - contrasting and merging with the surrounding environment depending on the time of year.
The Collector’s Pavilion employs meticulous detailing of its concrete to steel to wood connections, exploring the grounded nature of poured concrete in conjunction with a delicate wood roof system that floats above a grid of steel. Above all, the Pavilion harmonizes with it’s natural surroundings through it’s materiality, formal language, and siting.

The ProV WC is one of our most customizable wall range hoods. It comes with a chimney, too! As an added bonus, the chimney is telescoping, meaning it can retract and expand to fit in your kitchen. The control panel is easily accessible under the hood, and it features a Rheostat knob to adjust your blower power. There's not set speeds on this model; just turn the knob to find the perfect speed depending on what you are cooking.
The ProV WC also features a unique look with slanted stainless steel baffle filters, as the baffle filters in most of our models sit flat under the hood. These filters are dishwasher safe to keep you less focused on cleaning and more focused on cooking in the kitchen.

WM Creative Art "After" - This project was designed to remodel an existing living room / red brick fireplace surround to provide a more contemporary and brighter look to the room. The existing room featured a central fireplace / wood mantelpiece surrounded by floor to ceiling dark oak bookshelves. The color choice above the mantle was a rich maroon color and the whole combination achieved a rich and warm but pretty dark tone that made the room feel small.
The design concept involved completely changing and lightening the look of the fireplace in a style similar to the painted brick style seen often in colonial Williamsburg and similar areas in and around the Tidewater region of Virginia. Of the various colors featured in many “Williamsburg palettes”, the Client wanted to brighten the room with a neutral off-white scheme.
The bookshelves came out altogether, and the previous look of crowding and clutter gave way to a broad light allspice featuring the light colored brick fireplace. Above the mantle if the main feature on the wall - the abstract painting named “Mystére”.
Mystére is the commissioned artwork portion of this remodeling project. It is a member of the Galactic Series of my paintings. It is painted on a foundation of jet black. The contrasting colors were inspired (roughly speaking) by the six colors in a friend’s eyes that seem to change depending on the light. Mystére combines those base colors with metallic powder emulsion to achieve the shimmering effects. It is displayed in a jet black floating frame, and was briefly displayed as part of an exhibit at Arts on Main in Gloucester, Virginia prior to finding its permanent home in Virginia Beach.
Margaret Volney Designs, LLCWood-like ceramic tile was used on the 2 flanking walls to resemble wood to enhance the amazing "find" within the walls. Due to the fact that this was the original exterior brick wall exposed to the elements, it was decided by the home-own to preserve this treasure and incorporate it into this unique, one-of-a-kind bathroom. During the bathroom demolition of this historic home, an exterior brick wall was discovered within the existing interior of the home. History tells that the house was converted into apartments during the war. The door shown in this photo was the actual door encased in this wall when a new indoor-kitchen was added to the home after the war. This was the actual door to an apartment along with the outline of the once-exterior staircase leading up to the next apartment. Guest Bath and Powder Room Remodel in Historic Victorian Home. Original wood flooring in the main hallway was custom-matched to continue the beautiful floors and flow of the home. Hand-Painted Sheryl Wagner pedestal sink and matching hand-painted faucets. Wallpaper reflections of tree limbs appear and disappear depending on the lighting throughout the space.

When you enter this kitchen your eyes wander trying to absorb the immense planning and detail that went into the renovation but ultimately you find yourself positioned under the large Theresa Maria chandelier gazing into the sky. The kitchen was designed around the 48 inch Thermador stove. The 2 story inset cabinet creation around the stove flows up into the addition creating a visual masterpiece that is only rivaled by original pieces of art works created by the likes of Van Gogh, Picasso and Rembrandt. The sink was relocated from the exterior wall and into the island so that the stove wall would be isolated and not connected any other cabinets. The 36-inch-wide refrigerator and 36-inch-wide freezer were designed and installed next to a microwave cabinet that makes heating up items as convenient as 1,2,3. The outside cabinet wall section is perfect for entertaining with the 42 inch base cabinets. The massive two-tiered island of 124 inches long is perfect for everyday family living. A farmer’s sink adds the perfect touch to this traditional design. Renovating a kitchen without ceiling detail is one of the most overlooked parts of the renovation. The amount of money spent on the renovation depends on the budget of course but I highly recommend including ceiling detail as much as one considers the tile backsplash.

The Collector’s Pavilion employs meticulous detailing of its concrete to steel to wood connections, exploring the grounded nature of poured concrete in conjunction with a delicate wood roof system that floats above a grid of steel. Above all, the Pavilion harmonizes with it’s natural surroundings through it’s materiality, formal language, and siting.
