Installation Recommendations
Wall Cladding
1.Wall should be leveled and cleaned,
2.Fix the panel on the wall with wire and expansion screw tightly,
3.Fill the space between the panel and the wall with cement mortar of ratio 1:3,
4.Clean the extra mortar and dirt on the surface.
Floor Installation
1.Mark out the baseline of gound level,
2.Mix the mortar with ratio of 1 cement to 4 sand to have semi-day mortar,
3.Lay the mixed mortar in level with a layer of 3-4cm thickness,place the tile over the mortar and adjust the height properly to be leveled,
4.Remove the tile after level adjustment.Put a thin layer of cement powder on the mortar and add water on it to become wet,
5.Put the tile on top and gently knock with rubber hammer until it sealed with the mortar properly. Make sure the tile is leveled and has the same space between each other. Those tiles which are not leveled with others should be removed and repeat the leveling procedure in step 4.Genetally,the space between two tiles should be 2mm for water evaporation and normal expansion.
Daily maintenance of Micro Crystal Stone
1.The laying area of micro crystal stone can only be opened for use or stacking any item on top after at least 24 hours of filling the gap,
2.The ground must be covered with plywood or carpet for protection in case of doing other decoration work after the installation of micro crystal stone floor,
3.In areas like exit and entrance, the surface of micro crystal stone floor should be covered by carpet or plywood to protect it from the damage of abrasion of sand or other hard material.
4.Do not use general floor wax on micro crystal stone,General floor wax is an oil-based wax which is easily stuck to dust.
5.Please use rubber wheels for shopping cart and trolley on micro crystal stone floor, for the hard wheel may scratch and damage the surface,
6.Regular care and maintenance is the key for long lasting of micro crystal stone’s high glossy and reflection.
Important Notice
1.Make sure the ground of laying area is dry and clean before laying mortar. The ratio 1:3(volume ratio) must be strictly followed and no extra water added during the installation progress
2.In the choice of using white cement as the filling material, the strength and quality of the cement must be checked properly.
3.It is not recommended to store micro crystal stone outdoor for long time. It should be covered with rock wool in winter and moved into indoor 2 hours in advance before installation. It also needs to be covered with waterproof cloth when installing during the rainy days outdoor,
4.When using micro crystal stone as ground floor,2mm wild gap must be left between the joints for the benefit of the water vaporization and physical expansion. In the case of large-scale installation, it is recommended to leave an 8mm expansion joint,
5.It is recommended that the area of micro crystal stone to remain-not used-for at least 24 hours and kept 2-3 days before passing or storing items on top.

Following the devastating Woolsey Fire of 2018, the site in Malibu offered a unique opportunity to rebuild not just a home, but a new architectural composition that highlighted the property’s potential while navigating strict fire-rebuild codes in the area. The city’s fire-rebuild process required the new structure to remain close to the original footprint, size and bulk, a constraint that ultimately clarified the architectural direction. Without a fixed program, the design process allowed for a different kind of creative focus allowing Klopf Architecture the opportunity to explore how a modernist home could best respond to this site. The team approached the project not with a list of requirements, but with a question: How might a modernist live here? What spatial qualities would inspire calm, connection, and a sense of wonder in this setting? The process became less about problem-solving and more about architectural storytelling—letting the site, the light, and the principles of modern design guide the form and flow of the home.
The response emerged in the form of a glass-box pavilion, an open, Mid-Century Modern inspired living, dining, and kitchen space that floats at the edge of the property’s natural descent. Connected to the more enclosed, private areas of the home by a glass-walled hallway, the living pavilion becomes a distinct centerpiece of the design. It opens on all four sides to the landscape with decks and patios on the flanks, an internal garden and water feature to the north, and a dramatic unguarded view of the expansive backyard and ocean horizon to the south.
Because of the mandated footprint, careful planning was required to ensure every space could still engage with light, landscape, or both. Strategic voids in the form of atriums and courtyards allow daylight to filter deep into the home’s core, while offering moments of surprise and retreat. These design gestures allow natural light to filter deep into the interior, creating a sense of brightness and openness throughout the day. At the same time, they expand the perceptual boundaries between inside and out, making the home feel more expansive while anchoring its connection to the surrounding landscape.
The siting of the house is what gives it its unique character. Rather than receding into the backyard like the neighboring homes, the house holds a slight prominence. From the central living pavilion, stepping down into the landscape feels more like entering a secluded park where a separate existing accessory structure, trail, and recreational areas await. UserPacked with off-grid tech, the three-bedroom, three-bath Waterfall Residence soaks up stunning views of Carmel Valley. Andrew Goodwin Designs collaborated with the homeowners who are seasoned industrial designers on the final structure. To avoid disturbing the dozens of old-growth oak trees, and to mitigate the site’s elevation change of 75-plus feet, the architects opted to lift the 2,330-square-foot, home into the tree canopy, ensuring spectacular views that overlook the valley in three directions-west, south and east.
Built with the factory-fabricated Blue Sky Building System (BSBS), the home’s steel-framed floor, roof, and structural posts were rapidly bolted together on-site in less than two weeks. All-Weather dual-glazed sliding doors and windows frame views of the landscape and flood the interior with natural light.
"This home is a culmination of design efforts—by them and us—to achieve a space where they can celebrate contemporary design," says Goodwin. The Waterfall Residence is named after the home’s rear wall, which is angled to funnel rainwater runoff from the roof into two 2,000-gallon storage tanks under the home. Powered by a 6.5-kWh solar array and equipped with mostly electric appliances, the Waterfall Residence is designed to achieve net-zero energy after it’s been tested for a full year.

Mez Works FurnitureWe named this design the 'Insignia' as to reference the building in Seattle where the original table (and bench set) now reside. The concept for the 'Insignia' table was motivated by minimalist-modern design and inspiration that arose from an admiration for Nakashima-style trestle bases. With our traditional 'Mez Works' style, we used dimensional walnut with a steel stretcher through the center of the tabletop to trace our 'Zeeva' and ‘Martis’ series tables, and the steel is treated with a ‘black-magic patina’ and clear powder-coat finish for an industrial element. The leaf mechanisms are drop leaf supports that are solidly built, structurally stable and sturdy to eliminate sagging. They lock in place automatically when raised, and are simple and quick to release.
This design is very versatile, and as shown in the photos the table can be purposed as use for a desk. While folded down, the drop leaf hides a charging outlet that is secured to the base directly under the tabletop, while power is integrated by feeding the cord through the base all the way out through the bottom to a fixed outlet in the floor.

Installation Recommendations
Wall Cladding
1.Wall should be leveled and cleaned,
2.Fix the panel on the wall with wire and expansion screw tightly,
3.Fill the space between the panel and the wall with cement mortar of ratio 1:3,
4.Clean the extra mortar and dirt on the surface.
Floor Installation
1.Mark out the baseline of gound level,
2.Mix the mortar with ratio of 1 cement to 4 sand to have semi-day mortar,
3.Lay the mixed mortar in level with a layer of 3-4cm thickness,place the tile over the mortar and adjust the height properly to be leveled,
4.Remove the tile after level adjustment.Put a thin layer of cement powder on the mortar and add water on it to become wet,
5.Put the tile on top and gently knock with rubber hammer until it sealed with the mortar properly. Make sure the tile is leveled and has the same space between each other. Those tiles which are not leveled with others should be removed and repeat the leveling procedure in step 4.Genetally,the space between two tiles should be 2mm for water evaporation and normal expansion.
Daily maintenance of Micro Crystal Stone
1.The laying area of micro crystal stone can only be opened for use or stacking any item on top after at least 24 hours of filling the gap,
2.The ground must be covered with plywood or carpet for protection in case of doing other decoration work after the installation of micro crystal stone floor,
3.In areas like exit and entrance, the surface of micro crystal stone floor should be covered by carpet or plywood to protect it from the damage of abrasion of sand or other hard material.
4.Do not use general floor wax on micro crystal stone,General floor wax is an oil-based wax which is easily stuck to dust.
5.Please use rubber wheels for shopping cart and trolley on micro crystal stone floor, for the hard wheel may scratch and damage the surface,
6.Regular care and maintenance is the key for long lasting of micro crystal stone’s high glossy and reflection.
Important Notice
1.Make sure the ground of laying area is dry and clean before laying mortar. The ratio 1:3(volume ratio) must be strictly followed and no extra water added during the installation progress
2.In the choice of using white cement as the filling material, the strength and quality of the cement must be checked properly.
3.It is not recommended to store micro crystal stone outdoor for long time. It should be covered with rock wool in winter and moved into indoor 2 hours in advance before installation. It also needs to be covered with waterproof cloth when installing during the rainy days outdoor,
4.When using micro crystal stone as ground floor,2mm wild gap must be left between the joints for the benefit of the water vaporization and physical expansion. In the case of large-scale installation, it is recommended to leave an 8mm expansion joint,
5.It is recommended that the area of micro crystal stone to remain-not used-for at least 24 hours and kept 2-3 days before passing or storing items on top.

UserPacked with off-grid tech, the three-bedroom, three-bath Waterfall Residence soaks up stunning views of Carmel Valley. Andrew Goodwin Designs collaborated with the homeowners who are seasoned industrial designers on the final structure. To avoid disturbing the dozens of old-growth oak trees, and to mitigate the site’s elevation change of 75-plus feet, the architects opted to lift the 2,330-square-foot, home into the tree canopy, ensuring spectacular views that overlook the valley in three directions-west, south and east.
Built with the factory-fabricated Blue Sky Building System (BSBS), the home’s steel-framed floor, roof, and structural posts were rapidly bolted together on-site in less than two weeks. All-Weather dual-glazed sliding doors and windows frame views of the landscape and flood the interior with natural light.
"This home is a culmination of design efforts—by them and us—to achieve a space where they can celebrate contemporary design," says Goodwin. The Waterfall Residence is named after the home’s rear wall, which is angled to funnel rainwater runoff from the roof into two 2,000-gallon storage tanks under the home. Powered by a 6.5-kWh solar array and equipped with mostly electric appliances, the Waterfall Residence is designed to achieve net-zero energy after it’s been tested for a full year.

My House Design|Build|TeamThe family who owned this 1965 home chose a dramatic upgrade for their Coquitlam full home renovation. They wanted more room for gatherings, an open concept kitchen, and upgrades to bathrooms and the rec room. Their neighbour knew of our work, and we were glad to bring our skills to another project in the area.
Choosing Dramatic Lines
In the original house, the entryway was cramped, with a closet being the first thing everyone saw.
We opened the entryway and moved the closet, all while maintaining separation between the entry and the living space.
To draw the attention from the entry into the living room, we used a dramatic, flush, black herringbone ceiling detail across the ceiling. This detail goes all the way to the entertainment area on the main floor.
The eye arrives at a stunning waterfall edge walnut mantle, modern fireplace.
Open Concept Kitchen with Lots of Seating
The dividing wall between the kitchen and living areas was removed to create a larger, integrated entertaining space. The kitchen also has easy access to a new outdoor social space.
A new large skylight directly over the kitchen floods the space with natural light.
The kitchen now has gloss white cabinetry, with matte black accents and the same herringbone detail as the living room, and is tied together with a low maintenance Caesarstone’s white Attica quartz for the island countertop.
This over-sized island has barstool seating for five while leaving plenty of room for homework, snacking, socializing, and food prep in the same space.
To maximize space and minimize clutter, we integrated the kitchen appliances into the kitchen island, including a food warming drawer, a hidden fridge, and the dishwasher. This takes the eyes to focus off appliances, and onto the design elements which feed throughout the home.
We also installed a beverage center just beside the kitchen so family and guests can fix themselves a drink, without disrupting the flow of the kitchen.
Updated Downstairs Space, Updated Guest Room, Updated Bathrooms
It was a treat to update this entire house. Upstairs, we renovated the master bedroom with new blackout drapery, new decor, and a warm light grey paint colour. The tight bathroom was transformed with modern fixtures and gorgeous grey tile the homeowners loved.
The two teen girls’ rooms were updated with new lighting and furniture that tied in with the whole home decor, but which also reflected their personal taste.
In the basement, we updated the rec room with a bright modern look and updated fireplace. We added a needed door to the garage. We upgraded the bathrooms and created a legal second suite which the young adult daughter will use, for now.
Laundry Its Own Room, Finally
In a family with four women, you can imagine how much laundry gets done in this house. As part of the renovation, we built a proper laundry room with plenty of storage space, countertops, and a large sink.

Accoya WoodDesigned by London-based architecture firm Alma-nac, the property, which is called the Split House, replaces a 1950’s bungalow and run-down barn in the village of Fairlight, on the southern coast of England. The owners wanted to create a highly sustainable home which took advantage of its hilltop location. As a result, architect firm Alma-nac designed the property to extend out in three different directions, providing stunning views of the sea and nearby Dungeness headland.
The architects specified Accoya to construct the external windows, window reveals and doors for the stylish property. 38 Accoya fixed and opening windows were installed, as well as 22 glazed door leafs. The doors and windows will require little maintenance over their lifetime due to the process in which the wood is made. The acetylation process, which is used to toughen the wood, delivers outstanding levels of performance, stability and durability.
Caspar Rodgers from Alma-nac commented: “We chose Accoya because we wanted to build using eco-friendly materials that could withstand the variable weather conditions that are characteristic of England’s southern coast. Accoya is well-respected within the industry as a highly sustainable product that has high levels of durability and stability so we knew it would be the ideal material for the job.”
