Here we have an absolutely beautiful bank of Four Cabinet Doors, with each Glass Panel measuring; 18-5/8" x 32-5/8".
The Cabinet Glass Panels were installed in a matched set of Two " Mirrored Panels " , although we could have made the design " flow across " all four doors, that would have added to the what is now a very affordable design....
The colors used in these terrific Glass Panels were; Spectrum Glass - 152G - Ruby Red Granite for the Flowers. All the Flower Stems used Spectrum Glass - 422-1W - Deep Olive/Sea Green WaterGlass. Which is actually a pretty good representation of Real Leaves.
All four Cabinet Glass Inserts used Spectrum Glass - 100SN - Clear Satin for the BackGround Glass.
As you can see, it is fairly clear, with just a very slight hint of distortion.
We constructed all the Cabinet Glass Inserts using our Dark Antique Patina Lead Came to pick up on the aged cabinet hardware, and the dark accents found around the cabinetry.

This area was a lawn that was difficult to keep watered and healthy. The California drought and an upcoming wedding were catalysts to redesign the space. The existing garden is rustic with a craft style home and brick patio with Connecticut Bluestone walkways inspiring the use of the same materials to create an area for the family to gather in keeping with the existing landscape.

Ward Jewell, AIA was asked to design a comfortable one-story stone and wood pool house that was "barn-like" in keeping with the owner’s gentleman farmer concept. Thus, Mr. Jewell was inspired to create an elegant New England Stone Farm House designed to provide an exceptional environment for them to live, entertain, cook and swim in the large reflection lap pool.
Mr. Jewell envisioned a dramatic vaulted great room with hand selected 200 year old reclaimed wood beams and 10 foot tall pocketing French doors that would connect the house to a pool, deck areas, loggia and lush garden spaces, thus bringing the outdoors in. A large cupola “lantern clerestory” in the main vaulted ceiling casts a natural warm light over the graceful room below. The rustic walk-in stone fireplace provides a central focal point for the inviting living room lounge. Important to the functionality of the pool house are a chef’s working farm kitchen with open cabinetry, free-standing stove and a soapstone topped central island with bar height seating. Grey washed barn doors glide open to reveal a vaulted and beamed quilting room with full bath and a vaulted and beamed library/guest room with full bath that bookend the main space.
The private garden expanded and evolved over time. After purchasing two adjacent lots, the owners decided to redesign the garden and unify it by eliminating the tennis court, relocating the pool and building an inspired "barn". The concept behind the garden’s new design came from Thomas Jefferson’s home at Monticello with its wandering paths, orchards, and experimental vegetable garden. As a result this small organic farm, was born. Today the farm produces more than fifty varieties of vegetables, herbs, and edible flowers; many of which are rare and hard to find locally. The farm also grows a wide variety of fruits including plums, pluots, nectarines, apricots, apples, figs, peaches, guavas, avocados (Haas, Fuerte and Reed), olives, pomegranates, persimmons, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and ten different types of citrus. The remaining areas consist of drought-tolerant sweeps of rosemary, lavender, rockrose, and sage all of which attract butterflies and dueling hummingbirds.

The front facade of the house was planted with decorative boulders, shrubs and grasses to compliment the modern house and provide an Asian feel. Gravel mulch and the gravel driveway create a more casual feel and are part of the low maintenance landscape elements requested by the owner.

This is an example of a mid-sized traditional shade front yard stone garden path in New York for summer.

Renovation includes custom cabinetry, double wall ovens, and over-sized island.
This home on the Eastern Shore of Maryland began as a modest 1927 home with a central hall plan. Renovations included reversing the kitchen and dining room layout , adding a large central island and hood to anchor the center of the kitchen. The island has a walnut counter encircling the working island and accommodates additional seating. The main sink looks out to the north with beautiful water views. The southwest bay window affords a seating area with built-in bookshelves adjoining the breakfast room while the one in the kitchen provides for the secondary sink and clean-up area. By capturing the additional depth in the bay window, a large TV is concealed below the countertop and can emerge with a press of a button or retract out of sight to enjoy views of the water.
A separate butler's pantry and wine bar were designed adjoining the breakfast room. The original fireplace was retained and became the center of the large Breakfast Room. Wood paneling lines the Breakfast Room which helps to integrate the new kitchen and the adjoining spaces into a coherent whole, all accessible from the informal entry.
This was a highly collaborative project with Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen and Bath LTD of Chevy Chase, MD.

Our good friend Gerda is an avid photographer with a special interest in nature photography and butterflies. She also suffers from a lung disease that sometimes leaves her less mobile and able to head out to pursue this passion. A garden to take pictures in, even when you're not up to heading further out into the world. That was the main goal of this garden. With limited means and the use of affordable materials we created a wheel chair friendly garden that offers ample space for both human and wild life.
