We selected Wiedemann Architects for their ability to design beautiful homes under challenging situations. The property is situated on the banks of the Potomac with federally-protected trees, wildlife, and views of Mt. Vernon. During the design phase, Greg and Felix were excellent listeners and understood our family's vision. As a "family gathering place" and future retirement home, we wanted a house built for longevity -- one our family could enjoy for generations. Given the property's unique location, it was important to have a home that was historically relevant yet also provided the modern amenities one would expect in today's world. Greg and Felix turned our vision into a beautiful modern farmhouse that blends with the natural environment and offers panoramic views from almost every room. They worked with numerous stakeholders, on our behalf, to ensure approval at all levels of government. We couldn't be more happy with our special family retreat! Thank you Wiedemann Team!

We had seen a project in our area that Wiedemann had done and liked it. We met with Greg (as well as two other firms) and we both agreed that he was the one to work with. He and his associate, Gaby, immediately picked up on our goals and style and were flexible when we threw them curveballs. We've been living in our new house for a little more than a year now, and we love it more every day. This was our second time working with Greg: previously, we renovated and expanded a 1920s Sears Craftsman. That was a fun and rewarding experience, and the result was great, so, of course, we turned to Wiedemann Architects again when we decided in 2016 to build a new house. Only this time we wanted something very modern--lots of glass and sunlight, open floor plan, living space and master suite together on one floor. Greg and his associates, Felix Gonzalez and Lindsay Field, worked diligently to translate what we wanted into something that in every way makes living here really special. In addition to the Wiedemann team, we also engaged McNamara Brothers, Inc. as our general contractor and Lila Fendrick Landscape Architects as our landscape architects. Both were highly recommended by Greg, and both did an outstanding job.

Greg and Andrew Dan designed a beautiful plan – addressing every detail of our home with great patience and care. Greg and Andrew skillfully combined original portions of the home with new - creating a “new/old” home that is better than we could have imagined. We hired Wiedemann Architects to oversee the total renovation of a mid-century modern house in Mohican Hills, Maryland. Our 1950s house is situated on a hilly, wooded lot overlooking an old pool. The design objective was a modern house that was mostly glass in the back to take advantage of the lot, yet one that retained its original façade on the front. While the project had plenty of challenges, Greg and his team (Mitch Prince and Lindsay Field) did an exceptional job. The final project is a light filled modern space with an open staircase leading to a lower level with a poured concrete floor. Greg had really good insights and suggestions about the space, and he was flexible and willing to listen to our input. Greg also led the selection of our contractor, McNamara Brothers. Greg and the McNamaras worked very well together, and the project was delivered on budget and ahead of schedule. We are extremely pleased with the results. We would be happy to recommend Greg and Wiedemann Architects for any project, regardless of size and complexity.

We wanted to make several changes in our recently purchased, high-end condo in downtown Bethesda. We asked around and interviewed several architects, and ultimately hired Wiedeman Architects LLC. Our project grew in size and scope, as most projects do, and took several months to complete. Greg worked to re-create a relatively dark and asymmetrical space into an amazing contemporary space with clean lines, lots of light and glass and enough wood to make it warm and inviting. The master piece is the floating glass staircase! Greg was more than open to the idea and took to it with a passion; the result is amazing. Greg has great vision and patience, he was a pleasure to work with. Lindsay Field, Greg's assistant architect was absolutely great to work with as well; she has an enormous eye for detail and she worked with us as we decided on furniture sizes and placement, fixtures etc. We did not use a designer, and, because of the support of Greg and Lindsey, never really needed one. Finally, the administrative part was so easy: Greg would approve the builder's invoices and approve the charges, and send it on to us for payment, and the Wiedemann invoices were detailed and organized. In summary, our project was challenging and complex on many levels, and could have been a headache for us, but, in great part because of the Wiedemann Architects Team, it was a great experience with amazing results that we are very happy with!

The best decision we made when we decided to update and expand our 1920s Sears house was hiring Wiedemann Architects. We spent a lot time talking through our objectives with Greg in the early stages of our project. Greg proved to be not only a good listener, but also a wise advisor, with plenty of great ideas of his own. With the able assistance of his associate Lindsay Field, Greg developed a plan that beautifully harmonized old and new. Greg did a superb job of overseeing the project, making sure that everything was done right. (At Greg's suggestion, we hired McNamara Brothers as our general contractor. He and they have a long history of working together on projects such as ours, and their work was outstanding.) When the project was completed and we moved back into our home, I remember telling Gregg, "everywhere I look, I see something beautiful." That was six years ago, and I still feel the same way today.

Greg Wiedemann and his associate, Felix Gonzalez, designed a house that met the challenging requirements for this project. The house was to have a modern sensibility yet meet the architectural requirements for this conventional community. And it was sited on a steeply sloped lot. The end result is both beautiful and functional. Just today, someone walked in and exclaimed, "this is a never leave sort of place." That's exactly what it is. The house does everything I wanted it to do. Greg and Felix listened to everything I had to say with regard to practicalities and design and were accommodating without sacrificing integrity in form or function. This is the second house I've built with an architect and my experience is that it's unusual to find an architect that is both so flexible and talented. I highly recommend this firm.

I cannot recommend highly enough the firm of Wiedemann Architects for the creativity, skill, ability to bring a project to fruition, ease of working together, and general professionalism of its principal, Greg Wiedemann, and project architect, Barbara Sweeney. What impressed me enormously was the ability of the architects to take an idea, a feeling really, and convert the idea and the feelings to something material, and just exactly what I wanted. The flexible way in which this firm works is also remarkable.I participated in the project by Skype while I was in France and the project was in West Virginia, with only short visits by me to the site. The architects worked well with the contractor and with all the professions necessary to get the house built. A challenging site provided lots of surprises but determination and a real desire to create something unique served to make the house/atelier beautiful, functional, and a joy to live and work in.

Wiedemann Architects designed an addition to my 1911 vintage house and made modifications to its existing living room. I couldn't be happier with what they accomplished. Their architectural design was in keeping with the style of the original building, inside and outside. The new addition to the side of the house is predominantly windows on two levels, producing a porch feeling that orients and connects the house with the rear courtyard. Importantly, the addition is in scale with the house from front and back street views, and it blends seamlessly with the existing structure. Although the addition itself is small, the work to build it was somewhat complex, because of tight side yard constraints consistent with city living. Greg thought through potential complications and gave excellent advise on technical issues involving matters like radiant floor heating, high velocity cooling, water collection into a new underground containment system, and selection of McNamara Brothers General Contracting for the construction phase. Greg and Mitch were involved, available, professional, and easy to work with at every stage of the project. I had complete confidence in them. They provided the architectural expertise needed for a successful project, and they made sure that their design was realized, down to the details. I recommend Wiedemann Architects highly and without reservation.

Our experience with Wiedemann Architects was wonderful from beginning to end. From our first meeting, we knew that Greg Wiedemann understood our needs and our aesthetic, and his work for us exceeded our expectations. Greg's design allowed us to expand and update our 1930s colonial without sacrificing any of its character. He was able to open up the home to the outdoors (despite the challenging placement of the house on an irregularly shaped lot) and improve the flow of the rooms for our family. Greg was involved at every stage of the design and construction process, and his eye for detail ensured the highest level of quality. Greg and his talented associate, Lindsay Field, also helped us select many finishes, light fixtures, and exterior features that perfectly suited our home and our style. On a personal level, Greg, Lindsay, and the other members of the staff were a pleasure to work with--attentive, considerate, and thoughtful throughout the project. Greg Wiedemann and his group did a fantastic job designing my traditional cherry library and supervising every detail of its construction. They listened carefully to all my ideas and implemented everything that was feasible, patiently explaining the things that were not. Waterproofing, insulation, heating and cooling were all exquisitely designed and implemented so that the room is the most comfortable in the house year-round, even when the power goes out. They are a bit pricey and hit the cap on their fees well before the end of the project, but to the finish and beyond they remained as committed and involved as at our very first meeting. They were a joy to work with and I recommend them without hesitation.

Before embarking on a large residential new build project, my wife and I determined that the hiring of the architect was one of the most important decisions we would make. The architect would not only be key in the design of our new house, but would assist us in selecting a builder and represent our interests during the construction phase. Commensurate with the importance of the decision, we interviewed six architects, checked provided references, and spoke to builders who had worked with the architects. After that vetting process, we selected Greg Wiedemann for the project. We thought highly of Greg's aesthetic, appreciated the depth of his technical knowledge, welcomed his thoughtful approach to questions presented, and anticipated that he would represent our interests well during the construction phase. Looking back on the project, we often tell people that the best decision we made over the course of the several-year project was the hiring of Greg Wiedemann. He designed a beautiful house for us on a challenging lot, paying attention to the very smallest detail, while absorbing our own aesthetic to the point where down the road we felt very comfortable with his recommended choices for tiling, light fixtures, etc., and was all that we could have hoped for in terms of being an owner's advocate during the construction phase, including by ensuring that the design as called for by him was realized in all its specifics. We are thrilled with the final results of our project, and are grateful for all that Greg did to make it a reality.

I hired Wiedemann Architects to design a small house that has abundant natural light. The back of the house is almost all glass, taking advantage of the parkland behind the house. The other three sides of the house provide privacy from the street below and the neighboring houses. Where design elements might have exceeded the agreed-upon budget, Greg Wiedemann came up with innovative solutions that didn't compromise the overall design. Greg was very respectful of my point of view, is a good listener, and regularly sought my feedback. Besides being a gifted designer, Greg is very detail oriented and thoroughly understands the mechanical and engineering underpinnings of all of his projects. I highly recommend him and his talented staff.
