Airy, open, and connected to the lake...at our Lake Country Retreat, the Great Room captures the spirit of coastal living. We used a bright white palette, and tongue and groove ceiling panel framed by beams to set the design theme throughout. Each space is defined, yet the floorplan's open sightlines create a seamless sense of connection and maximize the lake views from every angle.

Gulf Building recently completed the “ New Orleans Chic” custom Estate in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The aptly named estate stays true to inspiration rooted from New Orleans, Louisiana. The stately entrance is fueled by the column’s, welcoming any guest to the future of custom estates that integrate modern features while keeping one foot in the past. The lamps hanging from the ceiling along the kitchen of the interior is a chic twist of the antique, tying in with the exposed brick overlaying the exterior. These staple fixtures of New Orleans style, transport you to an era bursting with life along the French founded streets. This two-story single-family residence includes five bedrooms, six and a half baths, and is approximately 8,210 square feet in size. The one of a kind three car garage fits his and her vehicles with ample room for a collector car as well. The kitchen is beautifully appointed with white and grey cabinets that are overlaid with white marble countertops which in turn are contrasted by the cool earth tones of the wood floors. The coffered ceilings, Armoire style refrigerator and a custom gunmetal hood lend sophistication to the kitchen. The high ceilings in the living room are accentuated by deep brown high beams that complement the cool tones of the living area. An antique wooden barn door tucked in the corner of the living room leads to a mancave with a bespoke bar and a lounge area, reminiscent of a speakeasy from another era. In a nod to the modern practicality that is desired by families with young kids, a massive laundry room also functions as a mudroom with locker style cubbies and a homework and crafts area for kids. The custom staircase leads to another vintage barn door on the 2nd floor that opens to reveal provides a wonderful family loft with another hidden gem: a secret attic playroom for kids! Rounding out the exterior, massive balconies with French patterned railing overlook a huge backyard with a custom pool and spa that is secluded from the hustle and bustle of the city.
All in all, this estate captures the perfect modern interpretation of New Orleans French traditional design. Welcome to New Orleans Chic of Fort Lauderdale, Florida!

Transformed from an old mill, soaring ceilings, large windows and original brick set the stage for this gorgeous loft apartment’s living room. Off-white walls complement the natural light that pours in through the windows which are dressed in taupe linen and banded in contrasting tangerine. Tangerine welt and brightly colored throw pillows in orange and aqua pop against the off-white chenille of the sofa and loveseat. Selected for their sparkle, glass lamps sit atop a pair of side tables which are finished in an eye-catching high gloss coral. In the center of the room sits a knarled root which has been topped with glass creating a clever cocktail table. Resting on the dark stained Asian console is an original artwork which captures the color palette for the space. White filigree vases add femininity and texture. A seafoam geometric patterned chair and ottoman along with aqua vases balance the strength of the delicious orange tones. A large sisal rug grounds the furniture and adds texture as does the large wicker basket at the end of the loveseat. In the corner stands a live tree adding height and life to complete this elegant design.

Structural Remodeling
Franklin County's Heavy Timber Specialists | Best of Houzz 2020!

Description: In early 1994, the architects began work on the project and while in construction (demolition, grading and foundations) the owner, due to circumstances beyond his control, halted all construction of the project. Seven years later the owner returned to the architects and asked them to complete the partially constructed house. Due to code changes, city ordinances and a wide variety of obstacles it was determined that the house was unable to be completed as originally designed.
After much consideration the client asked the architect if it were possible to alter/remodel the partially constructed house, which was a remodel/addition to a 1970’s ranch style house, into a project that fit into current zoning and structural codes. The owner also requested that the house’s footprint and partially constructed foundations remain to avoid the need for further entitlements and delays on an already long overdue and difficult hillside site.
The architects’ main challenge was how to alter the design that reflected an outdated philosophical approach to architecture that was nearly a decade old. How could the house be re-conceived reflecting the architect and client’s maturity on a ten-year-old footprint?
The answer was to remove almost all of the previously proposed existing interior walls and transform the existing footprint into a pavilion-like structure that allows the site to in a sense “pass through the house”. This allowed the client to take better advantage of a limited and restricted building area while capturing extraordinary panoramic views of the San Fernando Valley and Hollywood Hills. Large 22-foot high custom sliding glass doors allow the interior and exterior to become one. Even the studio is separated from the house and connected only by an exterior bridge. Private spaces are treated as loft-like spaces capturing volume and views while maintaining privacy.
Limestone floors extend from inside to outside and into the lap pool that runs the entire length of the house creating a horizon line at the edge of the view. Other natural materials such as board formed concrete, copper, steel and cherry provides softness to the objects that seem to float within the interior volume. By placing objects and materials "outside the frame," a new frame of reference deepens our sense of perception. Art does not reproduce what we see; rather it makes us see.

A relaxed yet truly elegant room that is welcoming with it's light and breezy transitional style.
This french styled transitional room has elements of today's lifestyle while incorporating those wonderful and meticulous traditional details.
Shown are the coffered ceilings, pilaster columns, fully custom designed fireplace, and beautifully detailed arched pocket doors.
As the architecture gives the viewer a nod to the French Beax-Arts style, the furniture has a relaxed and a contemporary feel. A monochromatic color palette further creates the relaxed mood of the room, while the elegant finishes of linen slipcovers and pillows accented by a silk and wool area rug give the room an old world elegance.
This home was featured in Philadelphia Magazine August 2014 issue to showcase its beauty and excellence.

The porch overhang made this room fairly dark, so we used reflective materials and light tones to create balance and make the room feel comfortable. Floor to ceiling silk drapes, glass and ceramic accessories create a quiet contrast against the soft olive walls, patterned carpet and ivory upholstery
