This client came to us in a bit of a panic when she realized that she really wanted her bathroom to be updated by March 1st due to having 2 daughters getting married in the spring and one graduating. We were only about 5 months out from that date, but decided we were up for the challenge.
The beautiful historical home was built in 1896 by an ornithologist (bird expert), so we took our cues from that as a starting point. The flooring is a vintage basket weave of marble and limestone, the shower walls of the tub shower conversion are clad in subway tile with a vintage feel. The lighting, mirror and plumbing fixtures all have a vintage vibe that feels both fitting and up to date. To give a little of an eclectic feel, we chose a custom green paint color for the linen cabinet, mushroom paint for the ship lap paneling that clads the walls and selected a vintage mirror that ties in the color from the existing door trim. We utilized some antique trim from the home for the wainscot cap for more vintage flavor.
The drama in the bathroom comes from the wallpaper and custom shower curtain, both in William Morris’s iconic “Strawberry Thief” print that tells the story of thrushes stealing fruit, so fitting for the home’s history. There is a lot of this pattern in a very small space, so we were careful to make sure the pattern on the wallpaper and shower curtain aligned.
A sweet little bird tie back for the shower curtain completes the story...

The vine has great fall color-bright yellow and drops its leave cleanly-not like a wet rag as does the fuzzy kiwi. The vine will grow 30+ feet and requires a strong trellis or tree to climb on. Borealis Landscape & Design DBA Skipley FarmBlackcap Raspberry. This is highly ornamental as well as productive. Unique flavor and the bonus of white stems in winter. Grows in shade or sun but certainly more productive in sun. These tasty tidbits are not that productive-that is you're not going to fill your freezer but with 5 or 6 plants you might have enough to make a batch of an excellent jam. You see, the ripe ones are the two black berries bottom right- they trickle fruit for 5 weeks.

The homeowners started by hiring an architect to develop a vision and plan for transforming their very traditional brick home into a contemporary family home full of modern updates. The Kitchen Studio of Glen Ellyn was hired to provide kitchen design expertise and to bring the vision to life.
The bamboo cabinetry and white Ceasarstone countertops provide contrast that pops while the white oak floors and limestone tile bring warmth to the space. A large island houses a Galley Sink which provides a multi-functional work surface fantastic for summer entertaining. And speaking of summer entertaining, a new Nana Wall system — a large glass wall system that creates a large exterior opening and can literally be opened and closed with one finger – brings the outdoor in and creates a very unique flavor to the space.
Matching bamboo cabinetry and panels were also installed in the adjoining family room, along with aluminum doors with frosted glass and a repeat of the limestone at the newly designed fireplace.

In fact it is drought tolerant and easily provides and abundance of fruit in 3 to 5 years. There are several varieties to choose from and the difference is not notable in the appearance of the plant but the flavor and texture do vary. Siobhan's Outdoor TransformationsFlooding and drainage are becoming more and more common and we have lots of tools to mitigate, including plants and hardscaping. In this case were a large stream of rain water came down in the side yard of our client's we used a berm and plants to soak up the monsoon washouts. Veltiver, a tall ornamental grass to help prevent washouts from the adjacent golf club. We added a berm and underplanted it with Firebush. Veltiver is a warm season grass with light green, narrow leaves. It is stiffly erect with good fall color. Can be grown as an annual in a container in cooler climates. This is an edible plant and the oil obtain from the roots is used as a flavoring in sherbets, syrup sweets, fruit drinks and canned asparagus. These oils may be used in specific medical compounds.

Earth Design GardensCaviar Lime aka Australian Finger Lime (Citrus australasica) grows well in Santa Cruz in areas where it will receive some shade. Native to the rainforests of Australia, it is one of few citrus species that do not require full sun to produce ample fruit. The caviar-shaped citrus beads inside the fruit burst with lime flavor and are a great addition to any drink or topping a veggie sushi roll.
