Above a newly constructed triple garage, we created a multifunctional space for a family that likes to entertain, but also spend time together watching movies, sports and playing pool. Having worked with our clients before on a previous project, they gave us free rein to create something they couldn’t have thought of themselves. We planned the space to feel as open as possible, whilst still having individual areas with their own identity and purpose. As this space was going to be predominantly used for entertaining in the evening or for movie watching, we made the room dark and enveloping using Farrow and Ball Studio Green in dead flat finish, wonderful for absorbing light. We then set about creating a lighting plan that offers multiple options for both ambience and practicality, so no matter what the occasion there was a lighting setting to suit. The bar, banquette seat and sofa were all bespoke, specifically designed for this space, which allowed us to have the exact size and cover we wanted. We also designed a restroom and shower room, so that in the future should this space become a guest suite, it already has everything you need. ​ Given that this space was completed just before Christmas, we feel sure it would have been thoroughly enjoyed for entertaining.

Completed in 2020, this impressive luxury estate was went through a complete renovation of the house and the entire property and gardens. This expansive estate creates a private oasis and retreat in the middle of Dallas. The estate includes a private lake with fountain features and stocked with fish, impressive entry gates, an expansive new driveway and front motor court arrival area, grand steps, stone retaining walls and a meandering path that wraps around the lake and offers a wonderful walking experience around the property. The gardens are spectacular and feature a variety of blooming shrubs, perennials and flowers to create a year round experience of color and texture for the owners. The perimeter of the property features mature privacy hedges and trees strategically placed to enhance the views from the house, while still providing glimpses into the property for the neighborhood. The existing swimming pool was completely renovated to create a tanning shelf for chaise lounges as well as a decorative tile, new plaster and canon fountain jets along the side to provide additional interest. The pool terrace, walkways and all exterior patios feature a beautiful limestone material that dresses up the outside living areas. Adjacent to the pool, the existing cabana structure was redone to create an outdoor kitchen and bar seating for friends and family. The wrap around porches on the backside of the house create inviting spaces for entertaining and offer incredible vistas overlooking the gardens and lake. In addition to the expansive garden areas, we planted dozens of mature and specimen trees throughout the property to help provide an instant impact and to also provide the garden another layer of beauty in the fall with the various fall colors offered by the tree selections. Along side the lake, we created multiple seating areas that offer the owners the opportunity to entertain and enjoy the property from many different angles and at different times of day. A large fire pit terrace was also included beside the lake creating a spectacular experience of water and fire. We also created recreation areas on the property for kids and adults alike. There is a dedicated playground areas with a large swing set for the kids as well as a new putting and chipping green to practice your short game.

Main Living Areas To make design statements, interior designer Jennifer Corredor used dark woods and walls of white throughout the social spaces. He tackled the situation by hiring interior designer Jennifer Corredor. Never defensive, he let her have run of the field. “He’d say, ‘Jen, do your thing,’” she says. And she did it well. The first order of the day was to get a lay of the land and a feel for what he wanted. For his primary residence, Tulloch chose a home in Pinecrest, Florida. — a great family neighborhood known for its schools and ample lot sizes. “His lot is huge,” Corredor says. “He could practice his game there if he wanted.” A laidback feeling permeates the suburban village, where mostly Mediterranean homes intermix with a few modern styles. With views toward the pool and a landscaped yard, Tulloch’s 10,000-square-foot home touches on both, a Mediterranean exterior with chic contemporary interiors. Step inside, where high ceilings and a sculptural stairway with oak treads and linear spindles immediately capture the eye. “Knowing he was more inclined toward an uncluttered look, and taking into consideration his age and lifestyle, I naturally took the path of choosing more modern furnishings,” the designer says. In the dining room, Tulloch specifically asked for a round table and Corredor found “Xilos Simplice” by Maxalto, a table that seats six to eight and has a Lazy Susan. And just past the stairway, two armless chairs from Calligaris and a semi-round sofa shape the living room. In keeping with Tulloch’s desire for a simple no-fuss lifestyle, leather is often used for upholstery. “He preferred wipe-able areas,” she says. “Nearly everything in the living room is clad in leather.” An architecturally striking, oak-coffered ceiling warms the family room, while Saturnia marble flooring grounds the space in cool comfort. “Since it’s just off the kitchen, this relaxed space provides the perfect place for family and friends to congregate — somewhere to hang out,” Corredor says. The deep-seated sofa wrapped in tan leather and Minotti armchairs in white join a pair of linen-clad ottomans for ample seating. With eight bedrooms in the home, there was “plenty of space to repurpose,” Corredor says. “Five are used for sleeping quarters, but the others have been converted into a billiard room, a home office and the memorabilia room.” On the first floor, the billiard room is set for fun and entertainment with doors that open to the pool area. The memorabilia room presented quite a challenge. Undaunted, Corredor delved into a seemingly never-ending collection of mementos to create a tribute to Tulloch’s career. “His team colors are blue and white, so we used those colors in this space,” she says. In a nod to Tulloch’s career on and off the field, his home office displays awards, recognition plaques and photos from his foundation. A Copenhagen desk, Herman Miller chair and leather-topped credenza further an aura of masculinity. All about relaxation, the master bedroom would not be complete without its own sitting area for viewing sports updates or late-night movies. Here, lounge chairs recline to create the perfect spot for Tulloch to put his feet up and watch TV. “He wanted it to be really comfortable,” Corredor says A total redo was required in the master bath, where the now 12-foot-long shower is a far cry from those in a locker room. “This bath is more like a launching pad to get you going in the morning,” Corredor says. “All in all, it’s a fun, warm and beautiful environment,” the designer says. “I wanted to create something unique, that would make my client proud and happy.” In Tulloch’s world, that’s a touchdown. The updated mudroom created a space that seamlessly connects to the kitchen, laundry room, walk-in closet, and powder bath while also serving as a comfortable haven for the family’s furry friends when they are away. To maximize functionality, we included open spaces under the bench for dog bowls and storage baskets for shoes, hats, and mittens. A myriad of hooks lines the walls, ensuring that there is a dedicated place for every coat and school bag. One of the most heartwarming features of this project is the wood bench top, lovingly handcrafted by the homeowner’s dad. It adds a personal and rustic touch to the space, making it truly unique. For added durability, we incorporated shiplap on the walls. Not only does it add a chic and contemporary aesthetic, but it’s also designed to withstand the wear and tear of a high-traffic area. Tying the mudroom and connected laundry room together is a beautiful wood-look tile floor, combining the timeless appeal of wood with the durability of tile. The vertical grain laminate textured melamine cabinets also tie the spaces together which were designed to withstand the rigors of everyday use. The laundry room quadrupled in size, and this expansion allowed us to introduce a range of practical and stylish features, perfect for this large family. Stacking the full-size washer and dryer was a game-changer, as it opened up valuable space for additional counter space, a sink, and ample storage. The project didn’t stop at the laundry room. A wall of 15″ deep pantries was added, along with an extra refrigerator. This provides ample storage space for small appliances and extra food, which is especially useful for a family with growing boys. A frosted glass door connects the laundry room to the wet bar area of the kitchen/dining room, facilitating easy access when entertaining. Furthermore, there is an exterior door leading to the backyard, ensuring that the space is not only practical but also connected to the outdoor living area. Having a small child, loving to entertain and looking to declutter and kid-proof the gathering spaces of their home in the quaint village of Rockville Centre, Long Island, a stone’s throw from Manhattan, our client’s main objective was to have their living room and den transformed with a family friendly home makeover with mid-century modern tones boasting a formal, yet relaxed spirit Stepping into the home we found their living room and den both architecturally well appointed yet in need of modern transitional furniture pieces and the pops of color our clients admired, as there was a substantial amount of cool, cold grays in the rooms. Decor Aid designer Vivian C. approached the design and placement of the pieces sourced to be kid-friendly while remaining sophisticated and practical for entertaining. “We played off of the clients love for blush pinks, mid-century modern and turquoise. We played with the use of gold and silver metals to mix it up.” In the living room, we used the prominent bay window and its illuminating natural light as the main architectural focal point, while the fireplace and mantels soft white tone helped inform the minimalist color palette for which we styled the room around. To add warmth to the living room we played off of the clients love for blush pinks and turquoise while elevating the room with flashes of gold and silver metallic pieces. For a sense of play and to tie the space together we punctuated the kid-friendly living room with an eclectic juxtaposition of colors and materials, from a beautifully patchworked geometric cowhide rug from All Modern, to a whimsical mirror placed over an unexpected, bold geometric credenza, to the blush velvet barrel chair and abstract blue watercolor pillows. “When sourcing furniture and objects, we chose items that had rounded edges and were shatter proof as it was vital to keep each room’s decor childproof.” Vivian ads. Their vision for the den remained chic, with comfort and practical functionality key to create an area for the young family to come together. For the den, our main challenge was working around the pre-existing dark gray sectional sofa. To combat its chunkiness, we played off of the hues in the cubist framed prints placed above and focused on blue and orange accents which complement and play off of each other well. We selected orange storage ottomans in easy to clean, kid-friendly leather to maximize space and functionality. To personalize the appeal of the den we included black and white framed family photos. In the end, the result created a fun, relaxed space where our clients can enjoy family moments or watch a game while taking in the scenic view of their backyard. For harmony between the rooms, the overall tone for each room is mid-century modern meets bold, yet classic contemporary through the use of mixed materials and fabrications including marble, stone, metals and plush velvet, creating a cozy yet sophisticated enough atmosphere for entertaining family and friends and raising a young children. “The result od this family friendly room was really fantastic! This breathtaking house is bathed in warm, neutral earth tones, which is complemented by the fresh yet comfortable furnishings — including La-Z-Boy’s sophisticated Duo Bennett Sofa that’s covered in an environmentally friendly Conserve fabric that feels as cozy as your favorite sweater. Each room flows to the next with an inviting palette and pops of color to surprise. Modern light aqua blue bedroom for video game and astronaut loving 6 year old boy. To take full advantage of a large empty wall I designed a custom bookshelf to fit on top of the modern dresser. The result was playful statement piece with lots of practical and fun storage, and a display for toys and decor. We hung a acrylic bubble chair in the other corner of the room and added white and silver upholstered “pixels” for a fun video game feel and to protect the walls. Completed in 2020, this impressive luxury estate was went through a complete renovation of the house and the entire property and gardens. This expansive estate creates a private oasis and retreat in the middle of Dallas. The estate includes a private lake with fountain features and stocked with fish, impressive entry gates, an expansive new driveway and front motor court arrival area, grand steps, stone retaining walls and a meandering path that wraps around the lake and offers a wonderful walking experience around the property. The gardens are spectacular and feature a variety of blooming shrubs, perennials and flowers to create a year round experience of color and texture for the owners. The perimeter of the property features mature privacy hedges and trees strategically placed to enhance the views from the house, while still providing glimpses into the property for the neighborhood. The existing swimming pool was completely renovated to create a tanning shelf for chaise lounges as well as a decorative tile, new plaster and canon fountain jets along the side to provide additional interest. The pool terrace, walkways and all exterior patios feature a beautiful limestone material that dresses up the outside living areas. Adjacent to the pool, the existing cabana structure was redone to create an outdoor kitchen and bar seating for friends and family. The wrap around porches on the backside of the house create inviting spaces for entertaining and offer incredible vistas overlooking the gardens and lake. In addition to the expansive garden areas, we planted dozens of mature and specimen trees throughout the property to help provide an instant impact and to also provide the garden another layer of beauty in the fall with the various fall colors offered by the tree selections. Along side the lake, we created multiple seating areas that offer the owners the opportunity to entertain and enjoy the property from many different angles and at different times of day. A large fire pit terrace was also included beside the lake creating a spectacular experience of water and fire. We also created recreation areas on the property for kids and adults alike. There is a dedicated playground areas with a large swing set for the kids as well as a new putting and chipping green to practice your short game.

You can find a whole lot of fun ready for the kids in this fun contemporary play-yard. Theme: The overall theme of the play-yard is a blend of creative and active outdoor play that blends with the contemporary styling of this beautiful home. Focus: The overall focus for the design of this amazing play-yard was to provide this family with an outdoor space that would foster an active and creative playtime for their children of various ages. The visual focus of this space is the 15-foot tree placed in the middle of the turf yard. This fantastic structure beacons the children to climb the mini stumps and enjoy the slide or swing happily from the branches all the while creating a touch of whimsical nature. Surrounding the tree the play-yard offers an array of activities for these lucky children from the chalkboard walls to create amazing pictures to the custom ball wall to practice their skills, the custom myWall system provides endless options for the kids and parents to keep the space exciting and new. Rock holds easily clip into the wall offering ever changing climbing routes, custom water toys and games can also be adapted to the wall to fit the fun of the day. Storage: The myWall system offers various storage options including shelving, closed cases or hanging baskets all of which can be moved to alternate locations on the wall as the homeowners want to customize the play-yard. Growth: The myWall system is built to grow with the users whether it is with changing taste, updating design or growing children, all the accessories can be moved or replaced while leaving the main frame in place. The materials used throughout the space were chosen for their durability and ability to withstand the harsh conditions for many years. The tree also includes 3 levels of swings offering children of varied ages the chance to swing from the branches. Safety: Safety is of critical concern with any play-yard and a space in the harsh hot summers presented specific concerns which were addressed with light colored materials to reflect the sun and reduce heat buildup and stainless steel hardware was used to avoid rusting. The myWall accessories all use a locking mechanism which allows for easy adjustments but also securely locks the pieces into place once set. The flooring in the treehouse was also textured to eliminate skidding.
