We chose to go with a universal design for the master bath we designed so that the home would be comfortable for both young homeowners and old. In keeping with the universal design principles, the shower is a walk in with a zero threshold – there is nothing to step or trip over as you enter the shower. The shower itself is a treat for the senses, from the elegant bronze tiles to the glass feature in the center – it boasts multifunction fixtures. With two adjustable body sprays and a Kohler Moxie shower head that allows you to sing while you scrub – this shower is a full experience tucked into the Master Bath. A seat with a hand held wand and two niches complete this luxurious shower – with walls braced for future grab bar installation, no inch of this space has gone untreated. A large family sized gray sectional fits this family of 6 comfortably during movie nights while everyone fights over who gets to sit in the cozy corner wedge. Plus there are plenty of star shaped ottomans to go around, perfect to rest your feet on. All fabrics are stain treated and protected. The striped Stark rug creates dimension and interest. while original contemporary paintings add the perfect backdrop to this space.

Access to the Master Bathroom is made easy from the kitchen/laundry area. Upon entering the bathroom, the roll up sink and medicine cabinet are easily accessible. There is wainscoting wall protection that is carried in from the adjacent hallway that easily blends with wainscoting height tile in the bathroom as well. The toilet is extra high comfort height and sits at 21" so that access from the wheelchair is easiest. There is a linen cabinet across from the toilet that provides for drawers for bathroom items and supplies and for linens and towels on top. The shower threshold could not be eliminated, so we extended the shower bench over 21" into the bathroom floor so that easy transfer could be made from the wheelchair onto the bench in the bathroom, The handheld shower is located within easy reach of the bench with all bathing supplies conveniently located in an easily accessible niche. Although not all grab bars are shown here, there is one at the sink to help her stand up, a pull down bar near the toilet, a vertical bar to help standing up from the toilets, an angled bar from the bench to stand up and a horizontal and vertical grab bar in the shower itself. Note that we selected the basic grab bar to install over any designer grab bar for maximum safety and comfort. From the Master Bath, a hallway leads to the closet and the Master Bedroom. We widened the hallway to access the closet to 42" wide, and increased the size of the door to enter the closet from 24" to 36" and eliminated the door to improve overall access. The closet was built in and provides for all her items that were previously in a dresser in her bedroom. This way, she can go into the closet and get all items needed to dress without going back into the bedroom for undergarments.

Architect: Michelle Penn, AIA This barn home is modeled after an existing Nebraska barn in Lancaster County. Because fresh water is not available from a well nor county water, water will be provided by rainwater harvesting. The water will be collected from a gutter system, go into a series of nine holding tanks and then go through a water filtration system to provide drinking water for the home. A greywater system will then recycle water from the sinks and showers to be reused in the toilets. Low-flow fixtures will be used throughout the home to conserve water. A Custom Exterior Entry Staircase In Seattle by Renovation Master Carpenter Westbrook Restorations. These entry stairs are a hybrid of old and new techniques to satisfy the historic look for continuity and the owners desire for low maintenance. For instance all framing is pressure treated and the treads are 1x4 iron wood decking with a space, allowing rain to go through like any other deck instead of, a full 5/4 fir bullnose tread, as would be used traditionally. Also all framing is pressure treated and the siding is hardi board. Includes iron wood treads, clear cedar risers, vertical grain clear cedar rail caps and grab rails, clear fir custom post caps, wood post wraps, and entry door to space under the stairs.

Wood decks will never go out of style. This deck is made of Pressure Treated Pine and it looks gorgeous. Using black aluminum spindles instead of wood creates a design element that opens up your space and looks great. Functionally, this deck has space to dine, entertain, and lounge around in the sun. The lattice skirting adds a unique look to the deck while also helping to keep out any critters from getting below.
