Maria Adams DesignsThis home office was literally picked up and moved from my personal home office to the Southern Ideal Home Show stage. The entire design plan was inspired by the large round orange lamp. Complimenting the pops of orange are robin eggs blue and light grey. The desk was purchased on Craigslist and was originally a buttery yellow color that I painted Porpoise Grey. Orange, grey and light blue pillows add texture and color to the cream colored Clayton Marcus sofa. Custom cabinetry, custom pinch pleat drapes and a large damask graphic rug complete the room.
Kitchen Design ConceptsCabinets and Countertop: This master bath features new Woodmont cabinet door and drawer fronts, maple wood, Raised Panel door style, and an Antique White painted finish. The countertops are a 3cm Cambria quartz in Fairbourne complete with a matching splashlette.
Tile: The shower walls, curb, tub side of 36” wall, side and back of niche features a Marble Systems 5-1/2 x 5-1/2 Diana Royal honed tile in brick lay. In the same material, we have a 1x1 straight lay on the shower floor, ½ x 12 pencil liner to outline the picture frame, and a 1x1 diagonal lay inside picture frame with accents of 1x1 Interglass Shimmer Snowdrift from Interceramic. Lastly, the main bath floor features a diagonal lay 18x18 also in Diana Royal honed tile from Marble Systems. In the corners, we have inserts of Interglass Shimmer Snowdrift 1x1 as a 2x2 square from Interceramic.
Fixtures: From Toto, we have Atherton vanity sinks in Cotton, and Promenade two-piece toilet also in Cotton. The drop-in tub is a Kohler Underscore in White. Faucets, faucet handles, tub filler, shower head, and shower control are from Sigma 510 Series in a Satin Gold. Other fixtures include: toilet paper holder, towel rings, towel bars, and robe hooks are also from Sigma 510 Series in a Satin Gold finish.
Clark Richardson ArchitectsThis guest studio apartment sits above the garage and features a connecting door to the main house to allow for a caretaker to reside here when the owner ages. In the mean time it serves as an income space studio apartment. The floors were constructed of salvaged wood flooring from the original home. Jack CalderoneThis bedroom and full bathroom are part of an adventuresome project my wife and I embarked upon to create a complete apartment in the basement of our townhouse. We designed a floor plan that creatively and efficiently used all of the 385-square-foot-space, without sacrificing beauty, comfort or function – and all without breaking the bank! To maximize our budget, we did the work ourselves and added everything from thrift store finds to DIY wall art to bring it all together.
A partial double closet bar adds a little extra space while still leaving room for longer hanging clothes.

Chi Renovation & DesignThis is a redesigned studio apartment we recently renovated. The goal was to increase function and increase the feeling of separate functions. Luckily, this studio is of an impressive size and we were able to increase function via a large kitchen, dining area, home office, and bedroom area.
Each separated area serves its own purpose and gives the feeling that the apartment, though small, has plenty of space for differing tasks. The result is a highly functioning studio that doesn’t feel cramped, but rather like a one bed apartment.
Designed by Chi Renovation & Design who serve Chicago and its surrounding suburbs, with an emphasis on the North Side and North Shore. You'll find their work from the Loop through Lincoln Park, Skokie, Wilmette, and all the way up to Lake Forest.
