Time to make the garland! Each year we wrap our clients banisters and handrails with fresh garland for the holidays. This year we added noble fir, red huck, Japanese honeysuckle vine, pine cones and other dried elements, like eucalyptus, pomegranate and cat tails! after this is installed on the banisters, we wrap them in lights for a glowing effect.

Unfolding in a fluid series of experiences, this large garden in Pasadena blends modern and mediterranean styles. The front garden features a modern flagstone walk and plantings in shades of greens and blue-grey. In the center of the property, a flagstone courtyard rings a large Coast Live Oak (Quercus agrifolia), and a new ipe walkway provides a stylish entrance to the back garden's steep upper slope while helping to prevent erosion. In the back of the property, rolling gardens of colorful succulents, shrubs and grasses lead to a meadow of Berkeley Sedge (Carex tumicola) with shimmering olive trees. A large ipe deck, with cut-outs for a mature eucalyptus, beckons at the bottom of the garden.

JAC 140 - Twilight in Space by Jon Allen The Jon Allen Collection is an exclusive, hand-selected group of my most personal work to date. Each piece is hand-painted on aluminum. My art itself and my chosen medium, aluminum, are blissfully married. You may not think of the word organic when you hear the word metal, but this is some of my most organic art and that’s simply because metal allows my work to achieve true sentience. Aluminum’s naturally reflective nature enables each color, shape, and stroke to reach its full potential. A new aspect of the painting will reveal itself to you as it basks in the light that surrounds, evades, or envelops it in that moment. When you see the piece from different angles, you will appreciate how vibrant, dynamic, and environmentally influenced these pieces are. What you may see and feel by morning is not what you’ll see or feel by dusk and in many ways, and as such I feel these pieces capture the ever-ebbing and complex nature of human emotion and perception. Some of these pieces are truly abstract while others are modern takes on traditional landscapes, marine life, and portraits. I hope you enjoy them a fraction of how much I enjoyed creating them. This gorgeous wide plank antique Oak is our most requested floor! With dramatic widths ranging from 6 to 12 inches (14 inches in some cases), you can easily bring an old-world charm into your home. This product comes to you completely pre-finished and ready to install. We start by hand sanding the surface, beveling the edges ever so slightly, and being careful to preserve the historical integrity of the planks. Typically, about 80% of your flooring will be "Smooth" with the remaining 20% having a slight texture from the original saw kerfs. This material will also have nail holes, knots, and checks which only adds to the unique character. Next, we apply Waterlox, a tung oil based sealant with or without stain added. Finally, 3 coats of Vermont Polywhey finish are added with a hand buffing between coats. The result is a luxurious satiny finish that you can only get from Historic Flooring!
