To open up space and make the kitchen feel larger without knocking down walls, Blackline Renovations made the hall entry from the kitchen to the dining room wider. We also relocated the refrigerator and oven and minimized the depth of the full-height cabinets near the range to give the couple enough space for a beautiful new functional narrow island.

Large transitional l-shaped medium tone wood floor and brown floor open concept kitchen photo in New York with a farmhouse sink, recessed-panel cabinets, white cabinets, white backsplash, stainless steel appliances, an island, quartzite countertops and subway tile backsplash

This luxury kitchen remodel in Glenmoore, Pennsylvania blends classic craftsmanship with modern functionality to create a bright and elegant gathering space at the heart of the home. Designed and built by Craftsworth Construction, this Chester County kitchen renovation transforms a traditional layout into a refined open-concept kitchen with custom cabinetry, layered lighting, and high-end finishes throughout.
The design centers around a stunning two-tone kitchen island featuring rich gray cabinetry paired with a dramatic waterfall quartz countertop. The island incorporates a built-in gas cooktop, microwave drawer, and bar seating, creating a functional centerpiece ideal for cooking, entertaining, and everyday living.
Surrounding the island, custom white shaker cabinetry extends to the ceiling, maximizing storage while maintaining a timeless aesthetic. Glass-front display cabinets with integrated lighting showcase decorative pieces and dishware, adding depth and visual interest to the kitchen design. Warm brushed brass hardware and fixtures bring a sophisticated contrast against the bright cabinetry and help tie the entire space together.
A clean herringbone tile backsplash runs throughout the perimeter cabinetry and preparation areas, providing subtle texture while complementing the neutral color palette. Under-cabinet lighting highlights the pattern and enhances the warm glow of the display cabinets above.
Large windows above the sink fill the kitchen with natural light, while a series of elegant gold geometric pendant lights above the island introduce a modern focal point that balances the traditional cabinetry. The kitchen flows seamlessly into the adjacent living area, creating an open and inviting environment ideal for entertaining and family gatherings.
Finished with durable luxury vinyl plank flooring, quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, and custom built-in storage, this Glenmoore kitchen renovation combines beauty, practicality, and timeless design.
This project was completed by Craftsworth Construction, a kitchen remodeling contractor serving Glenmoore, Downingtown, West Chester, and homeowners throughout Chester County and Delaware County, Pennsylvania.

This kitchen remodel of a 70’s home reflects the character of the existing home and some design features of that era while giving it a fresh, modern look. The client wanted the remodeled space to blend in with the rest of the home, retaining some of the 1970’s character while including all the best features of today’s kitchens.
Removing the wall separating the informal eating area from the family room provided a nice open space allowing for a larger kitchen footprint and plenty of light throughout.
A combination of Decor's Dove Wing painted and Natural stained Walnut cabinetry was chosen. The dark walnut, slab lower cabinets unite the kitchen with the darker wood theme found throughout the home, while the white, slim-shaker upper cabinets give the space a light and airy feeling. The beautiful vertical grain of the walnut is the foundation of a theme that is echoed throughout the space: tall & thin vertical lines without bulk or needless ornamentation. The unique design detail gives the kitchen a great balance of depth and character while still brightening the space. Walnut crown molding throughout defines the space and ties everything together.
The vertical-set green Japanese tile from Virginia Tile, also characteristic of the 1970’s, serves as the backsplash and fills the range wall. The tall & slim theme is underscored by several design elements from the vertical tile and tall cabinet pulls in matte black from Top Knobs, to the thin quartz countertops, skinny shaker cabinet door style, and tall, slim refrigerator doors, all meant to eliminate excess bulk and lighten up the space.
An impressive focal point in this kitchen is the custom walnut reeded hood, designed to reflect a popular 1970’s feature. Narrow walnut shelves below the white upper cabinets near the refrigerator provide a nice surprise to the eye. An extra long island, decked in polished 2cm Corian Quartz countertop in Novello, provides ample seating, storage, and task space, making it an ideal surface for serving, eating, meal prep, gathering, and entertaining. The client desired a long island with comfortable counter seating at one end for a family of five, including space for a baby’s high chair.
High-end Bosch appliances and functional storage were also priorities. The dry bar on the opposite wall features additional storage and an Elica beverage refrigerator, framed by tall walnut larder cabinets on each end. The white larder cabinet doors pocket into the sides, revealing beautiful finished walnut interiors.
Wall cabinets feature Decor’s integrated under-cabinet lighting, while puck lights illuminate the beverage center counter. This kitchen is bursting with integrated storage. Many deep drawers feature interior double drawers making smaller items more accessible. Decor’s spice drawer to the right of the range keeps spices organized, while divided tray storage on the left of the range keeps these taller items handy.
While the design is inspired by the 1970’s, it exemplifies the best of the 2020’s, and the new space is open, bright, and functional for this family with young children.

Modern galley kitchen featuring this gray countertop paired with full overlay white and black high gloss cabinetry and appliances to complete this modern design. and compliment the large porcelain tile flooring. The pops of color are great accent pieces to add flare to the space. For more on Normandy Designer Chris Ebert, click here: http://www.normandyremodeling.com/designers/christopher-ebert/

Committing to a kosher kitchen is quite a daunting undertaking and when you are also taking on a complete remodel, it can be overwhelming. It does not, however, have to be insurmountable. There are many resources to help guide you through the experience. Check out the internet and magazines to guide you. Once you have done the initial research, contact your Rabi with questions and for clarification on a kosher kitchen. Kosher requirements can vary differently between Orthodox, Conservatism, Ultra Orthodox and Reform Judaism. Your Rabi most likely will have a list of rules and guidelines. Also, hire a professional kitchen designer. They will not only be able to design the needs of a kosher kitchen but also make it personal to your needs and beautiful too.
If the space and the budget allow, two distinct kitchens within one space is a possibility. A kosher kitchen requires stringent separation of meat and dairy items. Depending on the sect of Judaism you practice ------
Storage:
The Storage areas need space for two sets of dishes, pots and pans, flatware, cups and utensils. You can combine the storage areas as long as there is a separation and that you do not mix service ware. A good recommendation is to color code your plates, flatware, table linen, pots. For example, red plates, gold-colored flatware, copper pots for meat items while dairy items have white plates, stainless flatware, stainless pots. You may want to label each area so when you have your new sister-in-law help in the kitchen; everything stays in the correct place.
Appliances:
When selecting appliances look for the STAR-K logo. This will help you determine to what extent an appliance is Kosher. Some ovens will have Sabbath modes where they will turn on automatically at a predetermined time. Once the oven is open, the oven turns off. Some refrigerators also have Sabbath modes where the ice maker turns off on the Sabbath and back on the following day. One refrigerator is usually sufficient provided all foods stay on the proper container in the proper section of the refrigerator. Having an immaculately clean refrigerator is a must if this is the case. You do not want spills from one food source contaminating food from the other. If you decide on two refrigerators, one can be full size while the other is smaller. A good kitchen designer can help assess your family’s needs to determine which is best for you.
Dishwashers cannot be Kosher in most cases. You either need two dishwashers, separate compartment dishwashers as in dishwasher drawers or wash by hand. Look at Fisher Pikel or Kitchen Aid for dishwasher drawers. Each drawer is on separate controls. You can dedicate the top drawer for dairy while the bottom drawer is for meat service ware.
If you have space and decide to have two dishwashers, you can get two 24” wide dishwashers. Another option is to have one full size dishwasher and supplement it with a small 18” wide dishwasher. Miele makes an 18” wide dishwasher that is super quiet and cleans dishes very well. You may also opt for a single dishwasher drawer in addition to a full sized dishwasher.
A single Microwave oven can be used for milk and meat provided that a complete cover is used around the food. You will also need separate plastic plate’s places on the bottom or glass turn table. Keeping the unit clean is very important.
Counter tops:
Counter tops may or may not be able to be koshered depending on your sect. Simply having sets of trivets for dairy, meat and pareve (not meat or dairy) will provide adequate separation of foods.
Sinks:
If you can’t have two separate sinks, include three separate tubs to be places in the sink. Color code the tubs for meat, dairy and pareve. If you have one sink or a single divided sink, you will need to be cautious about splashing, to keep the meat and dairy particulates apart. You will also need space for separate dish cloths or sponges and dish towels. Again, color coding is extremely helpful and highly suggested.
Must Haves:
~Storage space for two sets of dishes, flatware, pans bowls
~Color Code and label where appropriate
~Separate burners dedicate for either meat or dairy
~Separate clean up areas
~Clean environment to avoid contamination between meat and dairy
~A space that functions for how you cook
~A space that reflects you
