A young family in a new development and wanting more out of their home decided to remodel the 2500 square feet of unfinished space in their basement. Their goals were to have a future au-pair suite, large entertainment area, multi -seating spaces, a gym, and last but not the least, a state-of-the- art home theater. Additionally, they have been accustomed to large gatherings with 50 and more guests, so it was essential to have a large bar/kitchenette area serving the dual purpose.
The highlight of this renovation is the new home movie theatre. Complete with HD screen, projector and sound system, the motif for the room is the Renaissance, complete with fluted columns and arched panel walls. Double wood theatre doors open to theatre seating featuring burgundy leather theatre recliners.
The basement also touts a large au-pair bedroom suite, large walk-in closet and full bath furnished with walk-in shower stall, built-in bench and niches, frameless glass enclosure, cherry vanity cabinets and brick color porcelain tiles.
A custom bar/kitchenette uses cherry stained cabinets with dark granite countertops. It offers a built-in oven, microwave, wine coolers and a full refrigerator.
So whether the family wants to watch a favorite movie, work out in the home gym or have friends over for a party, this fully equipped basement is ready for the job.

The existing kitchen was dated and lacked in pantry storage. We closed in a walkway that led to the unused guest bedroom and installed a pantry in its place. We replaced the bland old cabinetry with new warm, wood cabinets. The countertops we installed are recycled glass.

Large elegant two-story stone house exterior photo in Other with a hip roof and a shingle roof

A stone and shingle facade and graceful lines highlight this expansive single-level home. Custom details can be found throughout the plan with elegant ceiling treatments in many rooms and built-in cabinetry flanking the great room fireplace. The chef's kitchen opens to the large dining area and to the great room, providing a focal point for family life and entertaining. One wing houses secondary bedrooms and utility space, helping to keep clutter out the formal living areas. The bedrooms each have a tray ceiling and their own walk-in closet. Just off the garage lies a utility room with ample work space, a large pantry, and convenient e-space. The oversized bonus room provides flexibility and access to plenty of attic storage. The opposite wing of the home plan is devoted to a roomy master suite with an attached sitting area to the rear. The suite accesses the rear porch, and includes two large walk-in closets. The highlight of the stunning master bath is the unique barrel vaulted ceiling over the garden tub. Dual vanities, a walk-in shower, and private privy complete the suite.

The island is designed with a waterfall edge and equipped with a strip of "plug molding" above the cabinet drawers. Plug molding provides an electrical outlet every 6 inches -- so handy at the island! Building codes often require only one or two outlets -- and you can see it's not possible to place one where the counter waterfalls.

Stone veneer can really add highlights to your home and create visual interest when you are adding a product like Hardie Board Cement Board. It is important to find the right mixes of stone veneer and the exterior siding. Think of stone as the accent to highlight the home.

Combining beautiful materials with practical functionality, this California kitchen uses cabinetry stained in natural inspired finish for a beachy feeling. This wood stain/glaze combination falls into the taupe family, a grayish brown neutral that blended perfectly for this coastal kitchen.
Portobello stained and highlighted cabinetry adds an organic feeling, that seems to be trending at this time.
While the quartz countertops and didgeridoo clay dots mosaic-tile backsplash provide blending neutral backdrop with a whimsical feeling.
