This home on West Montcrest was my first whole house re-do in 1994. A second floor was added to the existing single level 1940's cottage. It was among the initial group of homes being redone on the most highly regarded street in Crestline. I am extraordinarily pleased with the results of this home, 20 years later and always enjoy driving by. New owners have restored the home to its new appearance and hired me to design a large addition.

Located near the base of Scottsdale landmark Pinnacle Peak, the Desert Prairie is surrounded by distant peaks as well as boulder conservation easements. This 30,710 square foot site was unique in terrain and shape and was in close proximity to adjacent properties. These unique challenges initiated a truly unique piece of architecture. Planning of this residence was very complex as it weaved among the boulders. The owners were agnostic regarding style, yet wanted a warm palate with clean lines. The arrival point of the design journey was a desert interpretation of a prairie-styled home. The materials meet the surrounding desert with great harmony. Copper, undulating limestone, and Madre Perla quartzite all blend into a low-slung and highly protected home. Located in Estancia Golf Club, the 5,325 square foot (conditioned) residence has been featured in Luxe Interiors + Design’s September/October 2018 issue. In Hyde Park, a gracious 1904 masonry home, originally designed by highly-regarded architect Henry Van Doren Shaw, underwent a major 4,000 sf restoration and renovation. The endeavor consisted of the restoration of 64 windows, installation of the Hopes “Thermal Evolution Technology” steel window system on the rear of the home, chimney flue repair and lining, floor repair and refinishing, new kitchen and pantry by Parenti & Rafaelli, slate roof replacement as well as electrical, plumbing and design-build HVAC replacement. This Grandview development features a spacious 4-bedroom high-end home built over a 1-bed suite [accessible from the house] and an independent 2-bed/2-bath apartment. It was constructed from pre-fabricated Structual Insulated Panels. This, and other highly innovative construction technologies put the building in a class of its own regarding performance and sustainability. The structure has been seismically-upgraded, and materials have been selected to stand the test of time. The design is strikingly modern but respectful, and the layout is expectionally practical and efficient. The house is on a steep hill, providing views of the north-shore mountains from all floors. The large rooftop deck has panoramic views of the city. The open-plan living/dining room opens out onto a large south-facing deck.
