This environmentally minded client in Milford Michigan. contacted us to create a rain garden. They were both master gardeners and had a very specific plants that they wanted to utilize in the waterwise location. The area was a small triangle shaped piece of ground between two driveways. We creatd a natural depression in the center of the garden for the rain to accumulate once the rain barrel was to capacity. The soil that we removed was used to fill the small raised planter bed that we constructed. This would keep the water away from the foundation and give the homeowners a spot to add a Green Japanese Maple and Hydrangea who like it a little drier. We then installed natural michigan fieldstone boulders as a transition form the grade level to the rain garden. Black onyx stone was used to frame the entire garden and it works very well with all of the colorful plant material. Landforms Inc.

High-end outdoor living installation in Logan, Ohio designed and built for luxury residential use. This project features a custom stone patio, freeform swimming pool, raised integrated spa, recessed fire pit conversation area, architectural landscape lighting, and a fully composed backyard retreat with scenic hillside views.

This California native plant front yard is Certified Ocean Friendly, Certified Wildlife Habitat, has been featured on the Mar Vista Green Garden Showcase. Salvia spathacea, or hummingbird sage lines either side of the path. There is also Salvia leucantha (purple), a small Persimmon tree and large Sycamore tree in this photo. Grape vine on porch has not leafed out yet. Rain chain instead of down spout is decorative and functional. This installation was partially funded by a turf removal rebate. --Jacky Surber

This white house has a multi-level roof. We installed a new white K-style seamless gutter system. This photo shows the new downspout and boot. It’s designed to keep the flow of water away from the home’s siding and protect the lawn and soil.

This photo gives a better view of the overall aluminum gutter installation. It will help to ensure that water is directed away from the outside wiring. The positioning of the new downspout ensures that water is kept off and away from the door jamb. The boot directs the water flow away from the foundation as it flows away from the home.

This outdoor living area was a new build and needed protection from the sun. The Sunbrella shading is stationary and attached to the structure with stainless steel hardware. Designs by Dian fabricated and installed the shading. All custom pillows were fabricated by Designs by Dian.
