The media room is one of the client’s favorite spaces. What was once a plain, living space is now a comfortable, vibrant environment for where the homeowners can relax. It features an orange-and-white trellis wallpaper, a flame stitch rug (chosen by the husband), and an abstract painting of a bicycle that nods to the homeowners’ love of cycling.

Entryway - traditional medium tone wood floor entryway idea in Raleigh

This lower level bar was a special surprise from wife to husband - the custom Criss Craft boat island was kept under wraps until unveiled in a special moment. The floor is a wide plank floor that mimics wood but with fun blue and grey color tones. The backsplash tile is an oversides arabesque mosaic in a blue that miimics the lake water. The bar is truly a kitchenette for entertaining on the lake level, complete with full fridge, range, dishwasher and built in bar on that far left cabinet. The counterstools were custom made for the project by a local craftsman.

Gentle cascading curves make this 7500 sq. ft. home almost stealthy. At one with its environment, it is infused with a generous amount of natural light and the cooling coastal breezes of Corona del Mar, Ca. Natural materials and stone in a ledge rock pattern are combined with glass and steel to make this home uniquely spectacular. City and Coastal Commission approvals were secured. This room just had drywall, builders paint and baseboard. My friend and I (we are not very handy!) took on this project for the board and batten & window trim. My husband and I did the rest.

Our homeowner had dreamt about one day redoing her beyond outdated kitchen since they day her husband carried her over the threshold. Vinyl flooring used for a backsplash, dingy carpeting, laminate with no sheen left to speak of and mismatched cabinetry…. it was time to make it happen. A year’s worth of planning later, her time capsule became one dreamy kitchen. Functionality reigns supreme in this small, but efficient kitchen where every cabinet has a story to tell and a place to store it. Countertop space to the right of the stove was an added necessity for function and safety. The raised snack bar is perfect for day to day meals and the lowered countertop was a must for this petite baker. A new lighting plan includes recessed lights, under-cabinet and accent lights, while new lighting fixtures reflect the client’s sense of style. Dingy brick patterned carpet was removed making way for new hardwood floors toothed in from the dining room. An airy palette gained some weight with the use of larger details; the oversized hood, beefy turned posts, prominent apron front sink and a grouping of tall cabinets on the refrigerator wall. With the husband’s business requiring a temporary move to Milwaukee, these homeowners were looking to fully furnish and stylize their rental condo to be as comfortable as possible during their time in the city. Throw pillows and blankets make the space cozy enough for the couple to relax evenings after work, while functional and stylish accessories give the condo a lived-in quality that was perfect for hosting family and work gatherings.
