One of the other design desires was to give the space a sleek, modern look by picking the right cabinet door styles from IKEA. “I definitely wanted this kitchen to have timeless style, be highly functional and require very little maintenance,” Todd says.
He ended up selecting brown VOXTORP and white RINGHULT cabinet fronts, and light gray BROKHULT drawer fronts to complement the walnut-style SEKTION cabinets.
“The VOXTORP was a brand-new front that had come out after working with IKD. There were no good examples of completed kitchens to look at since it was so new, but they turned out way better than I expected!” he says.
The cabinets are complemented by stainless steel GREVSTA toe kicks and light-colored quartz countertops, which were supplied from a vendor through the contractor.

For this kitchen, the breif was simple. The customer wanted a classic white shaker kitchen but because of the other remodeling expenses, they needed to keep the cabinet budget as low as possible. The answer was simple: save money by using IKEA cabinets, but since IKEA only offers an off-white shaker style front, we used our affordable CRAFT - DIY Shaker fronts. These fronts come unfinished and can be painted any color desired. Although they could have saved even more by painting the fronts by hand, they chose to get them professionally painted for a more durable and professional finish.

IKEA's new SEKTION cabinet system allows for lots of different cabinet and drawer configurations as seen here. Our custom fronts are just as flexible. Here we used CRAFT - DIY Shaker. These doors come unfinished and can be painted in any color. For this kitchen a simple but elegant white was the perfect choice.

Our homeowner had dreamt about one day redoing her beyond outdated kitchen since they day her husband carried her over the threshold. Vinyl flooring used for a backsplash, dingy carpeting, laminate with no sheen left to speak of and mismatched cabinetry…. it was time to make it happen. A year’s worth of planning later, her time capsule became one dreamy kitchen.
Functionality reigns supreme in this small, but efficient kitchen where every cabinet has a story to tell and a place to store it. Countertop space to the right of the stove was an added necessity for function and safety. The raised snack bar is perfect for day to day meals and the lowered countertop was a must for this petite baker. A new lighting plan includes recessed lights, under-cabinet and accent lights, while new lighting fixtures reflect the client’s sense of style. Dingy brick patterned carpet was removed making way for new hardwood floors toothed in from the dining room.
An airy palette gained some weight with the use of larger details; the oversized hood, beefy turned posts, prominent apron front sink and a grouping of tall cabinets on the refrigerator wall. Glass cabinet fronts, shiny beveled subway tile, and granite countertops allow light to dance around the space.

Our client's IKEA kitchen included glass BODBYN doors for the wall cabinets, and off-white GRIMSLOV doors and FAGLEBODA handles for the base cabinets. They also upgraded to a DOMSJO apron sink with a HJUVIK faucet.

This desk area was made custom for the clients to have a space for their kids to work. A butcher block counter was added to the top. Custom drawer fronts, cabinet fronts and glass cabinet fronts with small open floating shelves were made custom.

We must admit, we’ve got yet another show-stopping transformation! With keeping the cabinetry boxes (though few had to be replaced), swapping out drawer and drawer fronts with new ones, and updating all the finishes – we managed to give this space a renovation that could be confused for a full remodel! The combination of a vibrant new backsplash, a light painted cabinetry finish, and new fixtures, these cosmetic changes really made the kitchen become “brand new”. Want to learn more about this space and see how we went from “drab” to “fab” then keep reading!
Cabinetry
The cabinets boxes that needed to be replaced are from WW Woods Shiloh, Homestead door style, in maple wood. These cabinets were unfinished, as we finished the entire kitchen on-site with the rest of the new drawer and drawer fronts for a seamless look. The cabinet fronts that were replaced were from Woodmont cabinetry, in a paint grade maple, and a recessed panel profile door-style. As a result, the perimeter cabinets were painted in Sherwin Williams Tinsmith, the island in Sherwin Williams Sea Serpent, and a few interiors of the cabinets were painted in a Sherwin Williams Tinsmith.
Countertop
The countertops feature a 3 cm Caesarstone Vivid White quartz
Backsplash
The backsplash installed from countertops to the bottom of the furrdown are from Glazzio in the Oceania Herringbone Series, in Cobalt Sea, and are a 1×2 size. We love how vibrant it is!
Fixtures and Fittings
From Blanco, we have a Meridian semi-professional faucet in Satin Nickel, and a granite composite Precis 1-3/4 bowl sink in a finish of Cinder. The floating shelves are from Danver and are a stainless steel finish.
Flooring
The flooring is a cork material from Harris Cork in the Napa Collection, in a Fawn finish.

If you look at the kitchen from this angle, you see that both horizontal and vertical cabinets have glass doors. The mix of cabinet sizes and cabinet door materials create a lot of pleasing lines in this IKEA kitchen.

Tall cabinets were topped with a horizontal glass cabinet for a small hutch in this beautiful kitchen. The cabinets are from IKEA with LIDINGO white door fronts.

To address this, the family selected IKEA cabinetry, including IKEA AXSTAD drawer fronts in matte white; IKEA AXSTAD glass door in matte white IKEA MAXIMERA drawers in high, medium, and low configurations; IKEA FORBATTRA toe kicks in matte white, IKEA FORBATTRA cover panel, IKEA FORBATTRA matte white rounded deco strip and IKEA UTRUSTA corner base cabinet pull-out fittings and hinges.
These were combined with IKEA SEKTION cabinetry framework (including SEKTION base cabinets frames in white and white IKEA SEKTION corner wall cabinet frames) and Borghini Silver quartz countertops as well as a variety of appliances, such as a Toshiba EM925A5A-SS microwave; a Frigidaire FFGH3054US stove, an LG LFXS28968S refrigerator; a Cosmo 63190 ventilation hood and a Lordear 30-inch farmhouse sink.
