An imposing heritage oak and fountain frame a strong central axis leading from the motor court to the front door, through a grand stair hall into the public spaces of this Italianate home designed for entertaining, out to the gardens and finally terminating at the pool and semi-circular columned cabana. Gracious terraces and formal interiors characterize this stately home.

Kitchen, bathroom and partial renovation of a residence. Design intent was to create a design complimentary to the existing mid century house while introducing hints and love of Japanese lifestyle.

Custom built-in entertainment center in the same house as the custom built-in window seat project that was posted in 2019. This project is 11-1/2 feet wide x 18 inches deep x 8 feet high. It consists of two 36" wide end base cabinets and a 66" wide center base cabinet with an open component compartment. The base cabinets have soft-close door hinges with 3-way cam adjustments and adjustable shelves. The base cabinet near the doorway includes custom-made ducting to re-route the HVAC air flow from a floor vent out through the toe kick panel. Above the base countertop are side and overhead book/display cases trimmed with crown molding. The TV is mounted on a wall bracket that extends and tilts, and in-wall electrical and HDMI cables connect the TV to power and components via a wall box at the back of the component compartment.

“A Powder Room with Personality” by designer: Scott Sanders

Tucked between the piano nobile gallery and dining room of this year’s imposing townhouse, designer Scott Sanders chose a decidedly masculine, “gentleman’s library” aesthetic for the essential powder room. It is both tailored yet moody, with distinctive elements carefully selected to insure appeal to either sex. Experienced solo or a deux, as so many powder rooms are, this jewel box is the perfect place to escape from the maddening crowd to exchange a bit of gossip, touch up lipstick or straighten a tie, discretely respond to a text message or, quite frankly, answer nature’s call.
The walls are covered in de Gournay’s new bas relief “Labrado” wallpaper, which has been hand painted to replicate the look of tooled Moroccan leather. Kohler fixtures in dramatic black with chic “Pinstripe” fittings in brushed bronze respond perfectly to the traditions of classic Park Avenue elegance, along with deluxe crocodile accessories. Extraordinary photography and fine art, includingHarry Benson’s iconic 1964 shot of the Beatles’ Pillow Fight at the Plaza Hotel and a pair of exquisite 18th century Goya etchings, complete the composition.

This powerful image showcases a magnificent brown bear standing tall on its hind legs, its imposing figure dominating the landscape. The bear's thick fur, sharp claws, and alert expression convey a sense of strength and wildness, while the serene backdrop of a misty forest adds a touch of tranquility. This captivating photograph would make a bold statement in any space, bringing the raw beauty of the wilderness into your home. Available in a variety of formats, including loose art prints, framed pieces, and classic canvas, this image is sure to be a conversation starter and a reminder of the power and majesty of the natural world. Open and functional kitchen, access everything with your fingertips. Including the dining room, wood burning stove, and living area. The structural Douglas Fir post and ceiling beams set the tone along with the stain matched 2x6 pine tongue and groove ceiling –this also serves as the finished floor surface at the loft above. Dreaming a cozy feel at the kitchen/dining area a darker stain was used to visual provide a shorter ceiling height to a 9’ plate line. The knotty Alder floating shelves and wall cabinetry share their own natural finish with a chocolate glazing. The island cabinet was of painted maple with a chocolate glaze as well, this unit wanted to look like a piece of furniture that was brought into the ‘cabin’ rather than built-in, again with a value minded approach. The flooring is a pre-finished engineered ½” Oak flooring, and again with the darker shade we wanted to emotionally deliver the cozier feel for the space. Additionally, lighting is essential to a cook’s –and kitchen’s- performance. We needed there to be ample lighting but only wanted to draw attention to the pendants above the island and the dining chandelier. We opted to wash the back splash and the counter tops with hidden LED strips. We then elected to use track lighting over the cooking area with as small of heads as possible and in black to make them ‘go away’ or get lost in the sauce.
