The open kitchen features Eggersman Trondheim Akazie Silver cabinetry with matte glass upper cabinet doors and Wilsonart, “North Cascades,” quartz counter and backsplash. A pocket door divides the primary suite entrance at far right where the wall was precisely dimensioned to fit “Tornado,” by Cuban artist Jorge Lopez Pardo. The Pale Moon kitchen has an informal open floor plan, great for entertaining as well as allowing for more natural light throughout the kitchen. The space includes updated yet timeless finishes, and cabinetry in the kitchen is a mix of white for a crisp bright feeling and a dark grey-blue paint for the island to help ground the space. The kitchen consists of 3 zones: the wet bar area (near the dining space) allows guests to help themselves to refreshments from the Monogram beverage center as well as the option for ice from a Monogram ice machine. The PLJW 121 is a powerful, low-profile wall and under cabinet range hood. It features a 900 CFM blower and belongs to our professional hood series. Standard shade is unlined, can block out 65% of light, privacy lining and blackout lining can be selected for a custom order. The homeowners provided a reception at the completion of the project which was much appreciated by all of the contractors working on the job!

The design approach focused on updating the kitchen while honoring the home’s original character. Rather than introducing a completely different aesthetic, the goal was to reinterpret the existing warmth, texture, and craftsmanship in a fresh way. A key decision was selecting cabinetry that could reflect the richness of the original bamboo. This led to a custom walnut finish that felt authentic to the home yet elevated in its execution. Eclectic materials were thoughtfully layered to create interest and personality, but carefully balanced so the space felt curated, cohesive, and enduring. The updated design includes slate flooring, Plato Cabinetry in a custom walnut finish, and 3 cm soapstone countertops that add depth and natural character. High-performance Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances—including a Sub-Zero refrigerator and beverage center, along with a Wolf speed oven and hood—bring modern functionality to this artfully composed space.
