The layout of this early 90’s home was adequate for the husband when he was just living there. However, now the family of three and their loving cat live there together; the space quickly became confined and inadequate. The Clients contacted us to discuss what their options may be to help the home feel more spacious. After a few weeks of design and engineering, we went to work on opening up the first floor to increase the size of the rooms while creating continuity with the adjoining rooms. A once tired and confined layout became a spacious, comfortable, & aesthetically pleasing space to live and entertain.

The owner's initial goal was to remove the soffits and update their older kitchen. At the initial meeting, with the owner's, we checked the soffits and found that they held structural beams and could not be removed. The owner's chose the plan to continue with the update of their kitchen. We began by laying out, and framing the new location of the doorway, to the dining room, to increase the length of the wall and accommodate their larger, new, commercial range. Next, a wire chase was installed from behind the television into the base cabinet, to enclose the wiring for a more appealing, clean look. New recessed lights, under cabinet lights, and pendant lights illuminate the entire new kitchen, accenting beauty as well as function. Note the brick pattern, glass, Subway tile back splash, enhancing the wall over the range. Crown molding was installed to finish the ceiling perimeter. Custom built cabinet to house 3 white wine units to hold white wine at serving temperature This unique space, an underground, under the house custom wine cellar built by Vintage Cellars, truly showcases the ability to transform any unused space in the house into a magnificent wine room, no matter what the size. This wine cellar utilized dark stain on the Walnut racking to further increase the underground cellar feel. Jake at Vintage Cellars along with the owners of the home collaborated to create multiple spaces within the wine cellar itself- an area for bottle storage as well as a separate wine room space for decanting and pouring wine, as well as social get-togethers. Within the social wine room, a credenza style cabinet has been utilized for white wine and champagne storage. A credenza cabinet, or any wine refrigerator or wine cabinet such as this is a perfect option to keep your whites and champagnes at a cooler temperature, ready for serving to guests anytime.
