Clients wanted the apartment to feel like their own with a modern style and fresh look.
The design challenge was to deliver an upscale aesthetic for the entire apartment at a feasible price. Chris & Cinzia wanted to open up their space, make it brighter, and also focus on making sure they have a lot of closet space. The designers worked on several layouts and design visualizations so they had options. Finally, the choice was made and the family felt confident in their decision.
Once the permits were filed and approved, the full apartment renovation began. During the building phase, the construction team renovated two bathrooms, completely reconfigured closets in all rooms, and made layout changes. This client wanted her kitchen renovated to increase resale value, as she was shortly planning on putting her house on the market. The renovation process was smooth and organized, and the result was that it went under contract in just three days! We designed an eclectic and sophisticated kitchen which exudes a major wow-factor as soon as you walk into the house. We mixed color and texture with a navy blue island, white and silver patterned backsplash, oversized pendants with a brass finish, and a final touch of beautifully designed hardware.

These homeowners decided to opt for a clear stained glass design instead of choosing colored glass. Clear glass gives you a little bit more versatility and freedom if you decide to change your decor or sell your home in the future. Though colored glass is also beautiful, the next owners of your home may not have the same interior design scheme in mind. So before you settle on a particular look for your windows, it's important to consider how long you plan on staying in your home.
Whatever you decide for the design, installing stained glass windows is a smart move. They provide privacy and elegance and can potentially increase the resale value of your home. Our artisans at Stained Glass Dallas can create any style of stained glass panel you desire. We work closely with our clients to make sure that their windows fit all of their aesthetic and practical needs.
If you’re thinking about doing some home remodeling, you should contact our office. We’ll sit down with you for a one on one consultation so that you can see the possibilities of how stained glass could benefit your Dallas home. Just call us today to schedule an appointment. We look forward to working with you on your upcoming project.

The focal point of the kitchen is the blue subway tiles on the range wall. Having only one wall of backsplash allowed for a bit more fun with tile without any worry of getting too much color or becoming too busy. The shiplap on the window wall adds a nice texture and detail to the space. Shutters painted in the wall color rather stand out against the white trim.

In this kitchen remodel, the white cabinets were done with IKEA Adel off white and a custom built island to match with 12" deep drawers from IKEA. The couters are Wilsonart Cararra marble with a double round over edge.. and they look incredibly real, yet super durable. The beadboard ceiling is Martha Stewart beadboard wallpaper that went right over the drywall and painted Behr "Aqua Breeze". The wals are Behr "Lightweight beige" and the flooring is Pergo Highland hickory. The farmhouse sink is also IKEA.

Building The In-Law Suite:
A well-designed in-law suite can offer the entire household a comfortable and welcoming space for everyone in the family. Primarily due to the aging "baby boomer" generation, the in-law suite has increased in popularity. A 2013 National Association of Realtors® survey of home buyers shows that 20 percent of buyers would be willing to pay more for a home if it had an in-law suite.
But before getting started, it’s important to check local codes to see if there are any restrictions. Some municipalities prohibit a single-family home from having two full kitchens or a suite having a separate entrance. Other municipalities will allow these options, but only with confirmation from homeowners that the relative is currently living in the space.
Privacy is the most important design feature. A home that provides private spaces for each generation and has a comfortable, common gathering area works best. Other design and construction features would be extra space around the toilet, a no-threshold, trackless shower, a vinyl or linoleum flooring and rounded corners that will reduce the possibility of injuries.
When designing and constructing an in-law suite, make sure it will be flexible in future re-purposing of the space; perhaps it may be used as a guest suite, a home office or a master suite. Designing an in-law space that is not specialized will help the home’s future resale value. Vanco Construction is a building expert and adviser for constructing in-law suites and is ready to discuss your vision for building this new addition. Give us a call at (973) 994-0616.
