The carpeting was replaced with hardwood in a dark stain, and the blue, grey and white rug create a welcoming area to lounge on the new sectional. A couple living in Washington Township wanted to completely open up their kitchen, dining, and living room space, replace dated materials and finishes and add brand-new furnishings, lighting, and décor to reimagine their space. They were dreaming of a complete kitchen remodel with a new footprint to make it more functional, as their old floor plan wasn't working for them anymore, and a modern fireplace remodel to breathe new life into their living room area. Our first step was to create a great room space for this couple by removing a wall to open up the space and redesigning the kitchen so that the refrigerator, cooktop, and new island were placed in the right way to increase functionality and prep surface area. Rain glass tile backsplash made for a stunning wow factor in the kitchen, as did the pendant lighting added above the island and new fixtures in the dining area and foyer. Since the client's favorite color was blue, we sprinkled it throughout the space with a calming gray and white palette to ground the colorful pops. Wood flooring added warmth and uniformity, while new dining and living room furnishings, rugs, and décor created warm, welcoming, and comfortable gathering areas with enough seating to entertain guests. Wellstudio demolished the existing bedrooms on the first floor of the property to create a spacious new open plan kitchen living dining area which enables residents to relax together and connect. Wellstudio inserted two new windows between the garage and the corridor on the ground floor and increased the glazed area of the garage door, opening up the space to bring in more natural light and thus allowing the garage to be used for a multitude of functions. Wellstudio replanned the rest of the house to optimise the space, adding two new compact bathrooms and a utility room into the layout.

In the kitchen, new Shaker style cabinets in a soft gray finish are complemented by quartz countertops with subtle Calacatta Gold veining. We increased functionality by using full overlay cabinets with soft-close doors and full-extension drawers; we added useful accessories such as roll-outs, tray dividers and a trash/recycling center. The new undermount stainless steel sink is a stylish upgrade from the old enameled drop-in sink and the full height textured subway tile is a huge improvement over the old four inch high laminate backsplash. The kitchen pantry received new shelving and the adjacent laundry/utility room even got a facelift with luxury vinyl tile flooring and new paint.

This was a kitchen renovation of a mid-century modern home in Peoria, Illinois. The galley kitchen needed more storage, professional cooking appliances, and more connection with the living spaces on the main floor. Kira Kyle, owner of Kitcheart, designed and built-in custom cabinetry with a gray stain finish to highlight the grain of the hickory. Hardware from Pottery Barn in brass. Appliances form Wolf, Vent-A-Hood, and Kitchen Aid. Reed glass was added to the china cabinets. The cabinet above the Kitchen Aid mixer was outfitted with baking storage. Pull-outs and extra deep drawers made storage more accessible. New Anderson windows improved the view. Storage more than doubled without increasing the footprint, and an arched opening to the family room allowed the cook to connect with the rest of the family.

This young family began working with us after struggling with their previous contractor. They were over budget and not achieving what they really needed with the addition they were proposing. Rather than extend the existing footprint of their house as had been suggested, we proposed completely changing the orientation of their separate kitchen, living room, dining room, and sunroom and opening it all up to an open floor plan. By changing the configuration of doors and windows to better suit the new layout and sight lines, we were able to improve the views of their beautiful backyard and increase the natural light allowed into the spaces. We raised the floor in the sunroom to allow for a level cohesive floor throughout the areas. Their extended kitchen now has a nice sitting area within the kitchen to allow for conversation with friends and family during meal prep and entertaining. The sitting area opens to a full dining room with built in buffet and hutch that functions as a serving station. Conscious thought was given that all “permanent” selections such as cabinetry and countertops were designed to suit the masses, with a splash of this homeowner’s individual style in the double herringbone soft gray tile of the backsplash, the mitred edge of the island countertop, and the mixture of metals in the plumbing and lighting fixtures. Careful consideration was given to the function of each cabinet and organization and storage was maximized. This family is now able to entertain their extended family with seating for 18 and not only enjoy entertaining in a space that feels open and inviting, but also enjoy sitting down as a family for the simple pleasure of supper together.

The Lisburn door style reflects the character and craftsmanship of the past with clean lines of today. The countertop is by Cambria and named for an English town; Bellingham, but, represents the River North Tyne that runs through the town. It has marble-like waves of dark gray and black that swirl about creams and light grays, proving it to be both casual and elegant. The owners of this stately Adams Morgan rowhouse wanted to reconfigure rooms on the two upper levels to create a primary suite on the third floor and a better layout for the second floor. Our crews fully gutted and reframed the floors and walls of the front rooms, taking the opportunity of open walls to increase energy-efficiency with spray foam insulation at exposed exterior walls. The original third floor bedroom was open to the hallway and had an outdated, odd-shaped bathroom. We reframed the walls to create a suite with a master bedroom, closet and generous bath with a freestanding tub and shower. Double doors open from the bedroom to the closet, and another set of double doors lead to the bathroom. The classic black and white theme continues in this room.

We partnered up with Furtado Contracting to update the kitchen in this stunning 100 year old house in Vancouver. The vision was to freshen up the dated cabinetry and countertops to a style that would lend well to the age of the home, while providing more storage and new appliances. Layout: The gas range was previously hidden from the dining room by a pony wall. It was decided early on to remove the pony wall, opening the space visually while providing added counter space behind the range. The removal of the pony wall also allowed us to add additional storage on the dining room side of the kitchen. The fridge was the next item to be relocated. Previously encroaching into the walkway, the fridge was previously placed where our new microwave lives. The fridge now sits in the perfect spot, next to a narrow open-self cabinet which was another wish list from the client, to display bottles and decorative items. Storage in this kitchen increased by mounting the upper cabinets to the ceiling and improving the lower cabinets by adding more drawers and interior accessories like pullouts, spice storage and a super-susan in the base-corner cabinet. Materials: The materials used were extra important to this renovation to ensure we complimented the age of the home. To achieve the right look, shaker doors were used on all cabinets. The painted white cabinets were constructed of a Maple species and painted in Benjamin Moores ‘Silver Satin’. On the base cabinets, a Cherry species was used in a warm stain. To brighten up the room, Caesarstone countertops in ‘Frosty Carrina’ were paired with a white tile in a subway pattern from Olympia Tile. The details on the crown moulding, door-style panels, cabinetry hardware, kitchen faucet and pendant light fixture are what made this space feel warm and welcoming for the 21st century.
