Behind the Tea House is a traditional Japanese raked garden. After much research we used bagged poultry grit in the raked garden. It had the perfect texture for raking. Gray granite cobbles and fashionettes were used for the border. A custom designed bamboo fence encloses the rear yard.

California Gold stabilized DG (decomposed granite) makes great pathways/walkways and is very cost effective. The small boulders are Desert Select and they are surrounded by Supreme Walk-on Bark. Install done by Patriot Landscaping in San Diego, CA.

Unpeeled cedar was used to construct this fence, and milled locust boards were used for the raised beds. Planters were created from sections of concrete drain-pipe found on the property.

AFTER: New iron brackets and inexpensive hanging baskets are planted with a mixture of marigolds, petunias and other flowering annuals that will grow to fill and spill over the edges of the baskets for months to come. Total budget for this project with five new baskets, five brackets and all the plants came in just under $100.
