This is a half-acre garden near the center of Towson, so it’s on the edge between urban and suburban. My dad, Wolfgang Oehme, designed the garden initially. After a change in ownership, I was asked to redesign much of the garden since it needed some help since it had been neglected. I designed and installed much of the planting that you see in the photos. I also redesigned the planting for the fish pond, butterfly garden in the rear, pollinator garden in the front, and I install annuals that fill the 9 pots at the front steps and rear deck and patio. An open house lot is like a blank canvas. When Mathew first visited the wooded lot where this home would ultimately be built, the landscape spoke to him clearly. Standing with the homeowner, it took Mathew only twenty minutes to produce an initial color sketch that captured his vision - a long, circular driveway and a home with many gables set at a picturesque angle that complemented the contours of the lot perfectly. The interior was designed using a modern mix of architectural styles – a dash of craftsman combined with some colonial elements – to create a sophisticated yet truly comfortable home that would never look or feel ostentatious. Features include a bright, open study off the entry. This office space is flanked on two sides by walls of expansive windows and provides a view out to the driveway and the woods beyond. There is also a contemporary, two-story great room with a see-through fireplace. This space is the heart of the home and provides a gracious transition, through two sets of double French doors, to a four-season porch located in the landscape of the rear yard. Barb & Peter hired us for a solution to improve their out of style kitchen. They also wanted our expertise on how to enhance the kitchen's functionality. During the design initial walkthrough,Barb mentioned that she loves cooking and wanted to go high-end with some of the kitchen functionality. We enjoyed working with them and are delighted with the final result! The first step was installing new white shaker cabinets and new countertops. The new kitchen has the clean and brighter look that homeowners were looking for. They did a great job picking the right high-end appliances to complement their dream kitchen. The finishing touches include Mansfield Amber III Porcelain Wood Plank Tile flooring in the entry, kitchen, and main room. We installed a new kitchen sink and a new touch kitchen faucet. We had a great time working with Bart & Peter, and we love the way the new kitchen turned out!
