For this extensive gut renovation in the East Village, the goal was to inject a small, functional bathroom with high-energy personality and bold spatial defining. We achieved this through a dramatic two-tone, color-blocked tile application, featuring a vibrant ultramarine blue wainscoting that lowers the visual height and frames the space. This is balanced by a zellige-inspired textural white tile above, adding depth and artisanal warmth. The true centerpiece is the custom, coral-pink concrete vanity, which offers a soft, sculptural contrast to the angular geometry. Layered with mustard yellow and white striped textiles and custom, patterned rugs, the resulting space feels playful, confident, and deeply reflective of its storied neighborhood.

Instead of de rigeur nautical artifacts, floppy sofas and wicker furniture, the firm responded to Makoid’s all-white interior envelope by injecting rooms with comfortable modern elegance that’s more contemporary Cap Ferrat than Eastern Long Island. Clean furniture silhouettes—from Cassina, Poltrona Frau and B&B Italia—a Massimo Vitali beach scene, a Moooi chandelier and industrial finishes (such as the steel of the fireplace surround and the anodized aluminum of a sleek Bulthaup kitchen) spark a creative tension between indoors and out. The gray palette provides a quiet backdrop for the nature outside, except for the master suite, where custom oak panels and blue shades create a reassuring warmth conducive to sleep. Our client wanted inject some personality into her space with an updated look that is stylish but one that is comfortable and inviting for family and guests. We added a fabulously soft caramel leather track arm sofa, a cozy chaise lounge for reading and watching television, and must have swivel chairs for additional guests. The family enjoys putting their feet up and stretching out, so an upholstered over-sized round ottoman that doubles as a coffee table was the perfect option! Family is number one to our client so we added a gallery wall and balanced that over-sized artwork flanked by iron sconces (with remote control candles - A GIRLS BEST FRIEND). Lastly the layered lighting finishes off the space from the Prairie Style ceiling fan, to the floor lamp, table lamps. What a fun and inviting space! We love it!

The Ktribe Outdoor F3 floor lamp provides a diffused light for outdoor use. The galvanized structural parts protect against atmospheric agents. The fixture has an injection-moulded polycarbonate internal diffuser and bulb-holder, and an exterior diffuser made from braided coloured PVC tubes. The Ktribe Outdoor is the perfect addition for 'living outdoors'.

The petite bath was given a full remodel, removing and relocating all the fixtures to create a more functional space. An arched ceiling was added over the built in tub, to add architectural elements and cozy up the space. The all white colour scheme is kept interesting by varying the white tiles used and injecting small pops of brass to compliment the vintage antique brass door hardware.

The client was highly focused on their deck environment that would span across the rear of the house with an area for a Jacuzzi as well. A portion of the deck has a screened in porch due to the naturally buggy environment since the home is situated in the woods and a low area. A mosquito repellent injection system was incorporated into the irrigation system to help with the bug issue. We improved circulation of the driveway, increased the overall curb appeal of the entrance of the home, and created a scaled and proportional outdoor living environment for the clients to enjoy. The client has religious guidelines that needed to be adhered to with the overall function and design of the landscape, which included an arbor over the deck to support a Sukkah and a Green Egg smoker to cook Kosher foods. Two columns were added at the driveway entrance with lights to help define their driveway entrance since it's the end of a long pipe-stem. New light fixtures were also added to the rear of the house. Our client desired multiple amenities with a limited budget, so everything had to be value engineered through the design and construction process. There is heavy deer pressure on the site, a mosquito issue, low site elevations, flat topography, poor soil, and overall poor drainage of the site. The original driveway was not sized appropriately and the front porch had structural issues, as well as leaked water onto the landing below. Expansive floor to ceiling windows bring the outdoors in to this newly remodeled living room in Huntington Woods. The lofty stepped ceiling is up lit for an indirect light source that defines and heightens the space. A textured dimensional tile wall surrounds the linear fireplace. Natural light floods into the space from the corner window. The thoughtful design of the large, open floor plan balances a sense of expansiveness with cozy intimacy. Proper use of negative space ensures the room feels comfortable without feeling oversized. Large walls are proportioned to perfectly showcase favorite selections from the homeowner's collection of vintage French and Italian art posters by artists Jean d'Ylen and Leonetto Cappiello. A built-in dining buffet with floating cabinets and shelves is recessed into the central support wall. The shelves are backlit with LED track lighting to illuminate a collection of contemporary white pottery pieces, punctuated occasionally with cheerful bursts of bold color. Additional lighting under the cabinets accentuates the ethereal vibe, while the richly stained wood finish complements the walnut floors. A neutral palette provides a blank canvas on which to showcase the rich textures of the striated rug and soft furnishings. Bold strokes of color in the plush pillows and larger than life art posters are the crowning touches that inject a fun sense of personality into this stunning 2018 project.
