When designing and installing this bathroom, dRemodeling went to no expensive to give the bathroom only the highest of quality and consistency. In this instance, the tiling of the backsplash didn't need to be placed within the two doorways and trim. However, the continuation of the tiling to the designer integral to the effect of the enveloping backsplash, and therefore, giving careful consideration and time when designing, and installing.

Awarded by the Classical institute of art and architecture , the linnean house has a restrained and simple elevation of doors and windows. Nestled in the Forest Hills neighborhood of Washington, D.C., the Linnean House is classical in both plan and elevation throughout its award-winning house plans. The main mass, comprising of the most formal and public spaces, is a spatial triptych along a symmetrical main axis. Inside the luxury home, the limestone façade, simple but well-proportioned with classical elements, extends itself into both the entry portico and main foyer with consistent proportions and materiality. This introduction allows the flanking living and dining rooms to be perceived as separate pavilions, each equipped with eight equal-proportioned French doors symmetrical of the main axis. Beyond the classical spaces are two wings which lead to the master suite and a kitchen/family space, respectively. Both of which are situated to queue from the French door axis, a focal feature in the repeatedly published home design. At the entry foyer, the stark stone luxury architecture is warmed by two symmetrical wood armoire-like freestanding sculptural objects, a persistent theme throughout the luxury house. In the kitchen, for instance, stand four similar wood armoire objects at opposite corners that act as columns and help give this space a sense of boundary and enclosure. The master bath vanity, in similar fashion, is introduced as a central free-standing form anchoring itself as a notable presence in the space. Lastly, the wine room is designed as a series of free-standing heavy wood cavity walls spanned only by a hint of glass.

A traditional 1926 cottage was transformed into a stunning, contemporary home. The focal point from both inside and out is a 3-story floating wood and stainless staircase, showcased by oversized windows and dramatic lighting. Walnut cabinetry with a distinct stain and natural slab surfaces offset the metals used throughout – Including at the interior and exterior of the fireplace. Reclaimed wood floors pay homage to the industrial area the home is situated in. In designing this home restrictions set forth by the building department were key. For instance, in order for the project to be considered a remodel the existing 8’ tall perimeter walls had to remain in place. The homeowners desperately wanted 9’ tall ceilings, so with crafty engineering and framing we were able to embellish the existing wall framing to achieve the added height. Clearstory windows allow much needed light into the spaces and creates the illusion of spaciousness, while maintaining wall areas for key furnishings and artwork. Every inch of space maximizes storage throughout the 2,600 square foot home. A cabinet for shoe storage immediately inside the front door also serves as a key component at the staircase and provides a platform to highlight sculptural artwork. Unique products and details, such as a metal link shower curtain and custom built-in guest beds with strategically placed outlets and horizontal surfaces to allow for electronics to be close at hand, elevate this home to the next level.

Gallery This project was created with a unique and innovative design with the premise of integrating the comforts of the inside with the harmonious nautical environment outside, achieving the feeling of floating amongst the sailboats and cruises. The Casa Barco de Hormigon is a totally different design than what is presented in current architecture. Inspired by the moorings, sailing and cruising environment, this majestic space is completely built of concrete with nautical lines never seen in modern architectural construction, The interior of the project boasts concrete overhangs, decorative wall details that surprise and invite observation of each space to discover that each detail is designed to appreciate. The design uses sunlight and moonlight to form geometric figures that move throughout the interior, changing the sensations according to the time of day and night, achieving design movements at different times. This natural light plays with the curved partitions and impressive staircase to make one experience every design detail with every step. With this project, one will surely experience different environmental changes at varying moments, For instance, the jacuzzi with waterfall integrates the river elevation surrounded by 12 foot palm trees situated inside the home, overlooking the moorings and cruises, Also, an unprecedented fire table for moments in the afternoon or winters outside add to the creative design. By integrating the views of the river from each and every one of its vantage points, , this makes this design creative and innovative with maximum expression.

’25 years ago’ design shows — that’s why this young family needed DiD to create a whole house transitional transformation in their newly purchased home. We refreshed or completely recreated every single room in this 5000sf Moorestown home. From removing the family room and entry murals, to shrinking down the overpowering fireplace, changing lighting, and custom creating furniture and built-ins to suit the needs of this energetic family of 6. Light and bright was the goal in most instances, with pocketed touches of moody blues and grays. We also accessorized and installed new window treatments throughout. Small playful details such as solid wood cookery book holders and niche elements complete the charming appearance of the rondo kitchen. The emphasis here is placed on manageability and functionality. For instance, there is a top cabinet with generous storage space for kitchen tools and other utensils concealed behind a practical roll door.

A transitional townhouse for a family with a touch of modern design and blue accents. When I start a project, I always ask a client to describe three words that they want to describe their home. In this instance, the owner asked for a modern, clean, and functional aesthetic that would be family-friendly, while also allowing him to entertain. We worked around the owner's artwork by Ryan Fugate in order to choose a neutral but also sophisticated palette of blues, greys, and green for the entire home. Metallic accents create a more modern feel that plays off of the hardware already in the home. The result is a comfortable and bright home where everyone can relax at the end of a long day. It is a subtractive process in which a solid piece of material is carved into a 2D or 3D object of any shape or size. This enables the creation of prototypes for parts and finished products. It also enables automated mass production of parts such as fittings, housings, brackets, gears, fasteners, shafts, electrical contacts, and moulds using specific materials. This process is a quick, safe, versatile, precise, and cost-effective production method. Living room - mid-sized contemporary loft-style marble floor living room idea in Miami with a music area, red walls, no fireplace and a media wall

This 100 year old, Federalist style home in the East End of Pittsburgh, was due for an update. The house sported original cabinetry and plumbing. The project included the entire house, to some degree, and some rooms, the kitchen, for instance, was a total gut job. Engineered hardwood was added to the rooms where old tar linoleum was installed, allowing for the original red oak to compliment these rooms easily. The master bathroom had previously undergone a minor remodel and I updated the entire house with new, mostly saturated, paint color by Benjamin Moore. My client had quite a nice collection of Baker furniture and upscale area rugs, and I took my cues from those pieces that were incorporated within the new design. My client has increased the value of his home substantially, and has recently upgraded the small exterior courtyard area with lovely perennials and new pavers and a fire pit; elements that are typically not found in a small city lot. The newly rennovated courtyard is a gathering spot for many outdoor parties that my client is famous for his hosting.

An exterior elevation drawing is analogous to a photo showing what each side of the house looks like from the outside. The drawing provides the architect with key information about the building heights – overall roof height, windows, doors, decks, etc. The Standard level of detail option also shows the ornamentation and trim which distinguish the building’s architectural style. How do you acquire elevation data? We acquire most of the elevation data inside while taking the floor plan data. For instance: We set floor to floor heights in stairwells or foyers We shoot from window sills to finished floor elevations, and then to grade outside We obtain window and door heights and details while taking floor plan data If we can see the ridge(s) or the attic is accessible, we'll obtain most of the roof data from inside as well.

These homeowners who were downsizing to a patio home in Floyds Fork area came to us after they had made all of their selections in paint colors, fixtures and finishes and asked us to put together a comprehensive plan for their new home including space planning, furniture selections, and finishing touches in window treatments, rugs, accent lighting and accessories. Although this is a well laid out floor plan, we asked a lot of questions to make sure each area functioned for the homeowners as well as looked good. For instance, the floor plan included a Dining Area and small Breakfast Nook. The homeowners knew they would spend most of their time at the island, so we invested in quality custom bar stools, we selected fully upholstered chairs for the dining area which will be used, and turned the Breakfast Nook into a seating area for morning coffee or afternoon reading. That took care of the functional, now for the fun. Our color palette comprised of creams, grays, tans and mustard yellow is so pleasing. We kept our furnishings neutral while popping our color with window treatments and accessories. Please note we used 3 different fabrics on the 3 different windows in the Living Area. As long as the fabrics coordinate and support your color palette, you can use multiple fabrics in the same space. Since our palette was neutral, we made sure our finishing touches had a lot of texture and interest. There is so much to look at and love in the large open space, and this is definitely one of my favorite color palettes. And as striking as this home looks, it is laid out so well. Every piece of furniture fits and functions perfectly. This is visual proof of the importance of a comprehensive plan. Enjoy!

These highly attractive bespoke built-in bookcases and matching desk were handcrafted by Claude Clémaron for a period-style home office and library in Putney, southwest London. Traditionally constructed and designed fitted furniture like this has incredible charm and creates a warm, homely and calming atmosphere. Though traditional in style, the fitted furniture has been customised to discreetly integrate modern technology, cabling and wiring into the design. The L-shaped cabinet, for instance, cleverly houses an air conditioning unit. A bespoke home office full of character Every detail is detail. From the antique bronze doorknobs to open the cupboard doors to the beautifully crafted, solid oak library ladder to reach the highest shelves. Handcrafted and hand finished for longevity and looks The fitted cabinets have been spraypainted in Hardwick White by Farrow and Ball; a timeless light neutral colour with a rich, chalky grey-green hue. Oak has been used to line the upper open bookcases. The natural wood adds a visual contrast to the painted finish of the cabinetry and will be more resilient to wear and tear. Painted shelves can be more prone to chipping and scratching when in frequent use. Decorative woodworking and period design elements Traditionally constructed and designed, this bespoke built-in cabinetry features an authentic beaded inset detail on the cupboard doors, as well as distinctive fluting, all adding further dimension and elegance to the high end furniture. The bespoke matching handcrafted desk features integrated storage and a curved right hand detailed panel. The curved edge softens the look and feel of the desk. A smooth skiver leather inlay, made from sheepskin, is a traditional feature that provides a comfortable surface for writing or using a mouse. The inlay’s natural texture and warm tan colour enhance the desk’s visual appeal and creates a pleasant tactile experience.

These types of building lots are often small. However, careful planning and clever uses of design allowed us to maximize the space. This home has 2378 square feet with three bedrooms and three full bathrooms. Add in a living room on the main floor, a separate den upstairs, and a full laundry room and this custom home still feels spacious! The kitchen is bright and inviting. With white cabinets, countertops and backsplash, and stainless steel appliances, the feel of this space is timeless. Similarly, the master bathroom design features plenty of must-haves. For instance, the bathroom includes a shower with matching tile to the vanity backsplash, a double floating vanity, heated tiled flooring, and tiled walls. Together with a flush mount fireplace in the master bedroom, this is an inviting oasis of space.

A defining feature of the house is a purpose made conical window on the Eastern wall of the lounge. The shape and position of this window combined with the precise placement of four etched copper tiles on the lounge floor were meticulously calculated to mark the birthdays of each of the four family members, an instance which binds person, place and time.

A modern home with an eclectic mix My clients in this space were divided. They were split by competing aesthetics. There were Vietnamese art pieces with modern motifs and bold colours mixed with hand-crafted rustic tables and antique Canadiana. I quickly identified a lack of cohesion and an uncomfortable conversation area as the primary issues that were causing my clients stress. A change was in order. We partitioned their large connected dining room, living and entryway areas using the existing furniture and floor covering. We were able to create several distinct and cohesive areas that each brought out the best of their contents. Each grouping now seemed natural and harmonious. Smooth international contemporary style and rustic heritage pieces now coexisted in the same space without causing my clients decorating headaches. To organize future projects and to summarize personalized decorating tips, Redecorating Vancouver provided them with a written Design Plan at the conclusion of the consultation. Family is important to me. I recognize that items in my clients' homes have unseen significance. In this instance, I was able to gather items to create a grand-parents nook to honour the couple's family. We took advantage of an heirloom antique radio that belonged to the client's grandfather and a meaningful handmade table. It is both pleasing to the eye and a daily reminder to the couple of who really matters in a home: the family that lives in it.
