Living room - craftsman living room idea in Boston

For his new swimming pool, Client specified Day-1 visual privacy from neighbors, including from neighbors' 2nd floor windows. We used graduated heights of rubro (phyllostachys Rubromarginata) up to 25' tall, average density 8 canes per linear foot, with greater density targeted to neighbors' sightlines into pool area. Entire hedge was surrounded with HDPE root-barrier to prevent bamboo from travelling into Client's pool lawn and to neighbors' property.

Furthering her plan to enhance the room's architecture, Suzanne turned one corner of the kitchen into a cheery dining area with an L-shaped built-in bench that mimics the cabinetry. To keep the dining nook cozy (not restaurant-like) she surrounded the metal bistro table with slipcovered armchairs and hung a sparkly chandelier above. Using the same patterned fabric on the window valances and pillows throughout (Montmartre in Clay/Blue from her own collection for Lee Jofa; leejofa.com), Suzanne introduced color and life to the kitchen without taking away from the all-white effect. Inspiration for a coastal dark wood floor and brown floor playroom remodel in Portland Maine with white walls

Designed by Cameron Snyder, CKD and Julie Lyons. Removing the former wall between the kitchen and dining room to create an open floor plan meant the former powder room tucked in a corner needed to be relocated. Cameron designed a 7' by 6' space framed with curved wall in the middle of the new space to locate the new powder room and it became an instant focal point perfectly located for guests and easily accessible from the kitchen, living and dining room areas. Both the pedestal lavatory and one piece sanagloss toilet are from TOTO Guinevere collection. Faucet is from the Newport Brass-Bevelle series in Polished Nickel with lever handles.

Who knew the farmhouse style could work so beautifully in a minimalist kitchen? Pairing our Vault sink with a Purist faucet keeps the look streamlined.

The kitchen, breakfast room and family room are all open to one another. The kitchen has a large twelve foot island topped with Calacatta marble and features a roll-out kneading table, and room to seat the whole family. The sunlight breakfast room opens onto the patio which has a built-in barbeque, and both bar top seating and a built in bench for outdoor dining. The large family room features a cozy fireplace, TV media, and a large built-in bookcase. The adjoining craft room is separated by a set of pocket french doors; where the kids can be visible from the family room as they do their homework.
