Conceived more similar to a loft type space rather than a traditional single family home, the homeowner was seeking to challenge a normal arrangement of rooms in favor of spaces that are dynamic in all 3 dimensions, interact with the yard, and capture the movement of light and air.
As an artist that explores the beauty of natural objects and scenes, she tasked us with creating a building that was not precious - one that explores the essence of its raw building materials and is not afraid of expressing them as finished.
We designed opportunities for kinetic fixtures, many built by the homeowner, to allow flexibility and movement.
The result is a building that compliments the casual artistic lifestyle of the occupant as part home, part work space, part gallery. The spaces are interactive, contemplative, and fun.

My signature-defined hand textured intricacies and carvings into the metal capture and reflect surrounding light sources creating enhanced interaction with dramatic illusions of depth and 3D movement as viewed from different angles. Hang it in your living room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, office, or outdoors. This abstract metal art will wow and impress your guests. Display under natural lighting or make this original artwork the show stopping centerpiece of any room with track lighting or gallery spot lights for dramatic effect. Lighting and other environmental factors interact with metal artwork in a unique, organic way.
Along with this signed piece of original metal art, every package includes easy mounting instructions, a measuring tool guide for simple installation, tips on lighting and other helpful information, and a Certificate of Authenticity. Unique pre-installed brackets for hanging are mounted to the back of each piece and "float" the artwork off the wall approximately 2". You can display this piece horizontally or vertically. Due to a wide variety of wall types, nails / screws for hanging are not provided. Every piece is quality inspected, gallery wrapped, and prepared carefully for safe global transit.
This five panel piece measures 64" x 24" x 2" (162.56 cm x 60.96 cm x 5.08 cm) including 1" spacing between panels.

This Kitchen and Mudroom renovation in Chantilly, VA featured plenty of kitchen counter space with a unique kitchen island, beautiful white cabinetry and kitchen backsplash and modern appliances that turned this dark and segmented kitchen into a bright open space.

A testament to innovation, sustainability, and familial harmony nestled within the serene confines of a Seattle neighborhood near Dahl Playfield. An eager young family embarking on their first foray into homeownership with a vision for a home that's as unique as it is integrated.
In response to their aspirations, we crafted a residence that defies conformity—a departure from cookie-cutter designs while seamlessly blending into its surroundings. Our Dahl House features a distinctive slanted profile, subtly angled towards the sunlit south, optimizing natural light and solar panel efficiency.
With sustainability as our guiding principle, every facet of the design prioritizes eco-consciousness. From superior insulation surpassing code requirements to energy-efficient LED lighting and solar-ready infrastructure, the home epitomizes environmental stewardship without compromising on style or comfort.
Functionality meets charm in the heart of the home—the integrated kitchen, living, and dining areas—which serve as focal points for family interaction and engagement. Additionally, special provisions such as a dedicated study area for children and a whimsical loft enhance the home's livability and charm.
In essence, our design isn't just a structure—it's a canvas for vibrant family life, where innovation meets intimacy, and sustainability coexists with style. Welcome to our Dahl House—a haven designed for interactive living, where every detail fosters connection and coziness.

A rustic stone path meanders through a wooded site to arrive at the entry of this 2,800-square-foot home on Martha’s Vineyard, completed in 2001. The path sets the tone for the project itself: simple, functional, and integrated with the natural environment. The couple that commissioned the residence uses it as a summer getaway for family and friends. A master bedroom wing, a guest wing, and a central living, dining, and kitchen area provide a variety of spaces for living and entertaining. Augmenting these spaces are a porch, terrace, and roof deck—providing places for quite reading, gathering for drinks, or taking in unobstructed views of the night sky. The house generates human interaction and connections with the natural world. Ground level terraces and rooftop decks promote this interactivity while large sliding windows and doors literally bring the outdoors inside and encourage individuals to venture outside. The typical inside vs. outside boundaries of traditional buildings are dissolved.

Landslide by Jon Allen - Nature's beauty and power is depicted in this original five panel set of metal artwork. Mountain-esque peaks and valleys adorn this artwork in a coppery, golden, earthtone and silver fusion. This original hand-etched painted metal wall art measures 64" x 24" x 2" (162.56 cm x 60.96 cm x 5.08 cm) overall including suggested 1" spacing between panels. More than nature's beauty, it's sheer power is truly awe-inspiring and this piece is was created in respect and in tribute to that. In addition to the traditional, contemporary, and modern decor my work typically complements,
this piece would also make a wonderful addition to a cabin, country home, ski house, or in any other rustic setting.

At the core of this transformation was the client’s aspiration for an open, interconnected space.
The removal of barriers between the kitchen, dining, and living areas created an expansive, fluid layout, elevating the home’s ambiance and facilitating seamless interaction among spaces.
The new open layout is the perfect space to cook and entertain merging sophistication with functionality.
The journey began with the client’s exploration of colors, eventually embracing Benjamin Moore’s Hale Navy blue as the cornerstone for the cabinetry. This choice set the stage for a harmonious palette that tied in with the living and dining room furniture and rugs.
Integrating a natural stone countertop became a focal point, incorporating these varied hues while gold fixtures added a touch of luxury and sophistication.
Throughout the design process, challenges were met with innovative solutions. Space optimization was key, requiring strategic placement of appliances like a smaller-width refrigerator alongside a pull-out pantry cabinet. The island, a central feature, not only provided additional seating but replaced the need for a separate table and chairs, optimizing the space for gatherings and enhancing the flow between the kitchen and the adjoining areas.
The revitalized kitchen now stands as a vibrant hub for social interaction. The homeowner seamlessly integrates into gatherings, no longer confined by kitchen walls, while guests engage effortlessly in the cooking process at the island. This transformation embodies the convergence of beauty and functionality, where every design element tells a story of thoughtful innovation and meticulous attention to detail.
