Just steps away, built seamlessly into a tall pantry-style cabinet, is a Thermador built-in microwave. Positioned at a comfortable eye-level height, this appliance is discreetly framed by matching cabinet panels, offering both convenience and visual continuity. Its sleek stainless steel trim and touch control interface echo the modern design language of the kitchen while freeing up valuable countertop space.
The integration of appliances into custom millwork makes every element feel intentional — no clutter, no interruptions, just clean, refined lines and top-tier functionality.

Guest quarters for a big house on the Concord River, this project enlarges former studio space over a four-bay garage into a new four-bedroom ‘outpost’.
design challenges:
Convert Studio Apartment to 4-Bedroom Home without enlarging footprint of building. Keep costs minimal.
On the ground floor, both pre-existing eight- and twelve-foot tall halves of the former scheme remain in-place, as do the structural bones of two faceted ‘beaks’. The complex former roof was removed for its limited use of available floor area.
A single long shed now unifies the high East side of the house and its small private individual spaces with the wide-open shared space of the lower West Side. Aligned with the stair-tower extruded from a former beak, a childrens’ loft-library and two-sided fireplace conduct the East-West interface.

AT ITS ORIGIN IS THE SPIRIT OF PURE CONSCIOUSNESS. | What comes after form? What value do we give to things in an age when good design and well-conceived functionality are self-evident requirements? These considerations were the starting point for developing a series of fittings that is seriously reserved in terms of form and which focuses on the deliberate, sensual experience of the element of water. MEM does not have an extroverted design; instead, the fitting becomes the interface between the architecture and the user – leaving room in everyday use for personal cleansing rituals in the bathroom. | Available at www.shopstudio41.com

The torii house is so named as the dwelling's architectural form resembles the traditional japanese torii gate, with its vertical pillars topped by a horizontal beam (roof), kept together by a tie-beam (2nd floor/ main floor ceiling)
The deep overhangs further emphasize the expression of horizontality in contrast with the vertical nature of the surrounding tree stands that envelope the site. The design draws on the customary Japanese concepts of 'shakkei' (borrowed landscape) and 'hisashi' (deep eaves) to create a subtle relationship between the house and site.
As a tactile and design aesthetic, the muted tones of the exterior palette helps to create an effective interface between the house and its surroundings. Set on a gently rolling landscape of prairie grass, one approaches the front entry via a transitional space consisting of a raised landscaped platform made of field rock gathered from the site.
The generous main entry leads to a lineal arrangement of open living spaces comprising most of the ground floor with bedrooms on the second level that open on to large balconies in proximity to the tree canopy.
Although the house is expressed with clarity and simplicity, the designs transcends function and practicality while still achieving uniqueness and individuality.

Fisher & Paykel is the story of a plucky little appliance seller in New Zealand that decided the best way to do business wasn't in selling other people's products, but by making something that was even better. Since then, Fisher & Paykel has been a forerunner in modern appliance innovation. They were the first company to use Direct Drive brushless motors for greater control, reliability and vibration free operation. They introduced the Double DishDrawer, which made the dishwasher even more convenient. Their line of ActiveSmart enabled refrigerators was the first to include advanced microprocessors to dynamically control the cooling system to keep food fresher for longer. The Izona Cooktop line has a one of a kind audio-visual interface and one of the most starkly beautiful designs on the market.

This residence is located within walking distance of downtown Sausalito, with panoramic views of Richardson Bay. The owner wanted an eco-friendly, modern, meditative home that celebrated the maritime environment, while fitting within the historic context of the neighborhood and meeting the challenges of a tight, steep site. The design gracefully meets each of these constraints. The front façade makes the house unassuming and private to the street, while floor to ceiling doors and windows facing the views create a light and airy interior. With clean lines and a combination of light and dark woods, this passive solar house is warm, and elegant in its simplicity. The project includes a rainwater harvesting system (the first approved for domestic use in California!) and a comprehensive home automation system capable of controlling all electronic devices remotely by a web-enabled interface. One planning commissioner described the house as “a jewel box … one of the best gifts to Sausalito that I have seen in my five years on the Commission.” Photography by 450 Architects.

The Dental Studio is a highly intricate building that uniquely links two separate stands of two neighbourhoods and straddling a four metre broad municipal
servitude. The western part of the neighbourhood is an office precinct consisting of low scaled office buildings set around a communal access street and
parking. It was designed for a leading dental practice with state of the art equipment and progressive philosophy of service.
It presents itself as an uncomplicated rectangular structural mass that elegantly characterise an intersection of a major neighbourhood boulevard and is
notable along the eastern end with an upright circulation tower. The western end on the other hand, is characterised with vertical solar control screens
which serve a dual purpose, that is, sifting low down western sun rays as well as giving a serene appeal to the mass. The daring spotless form of the
building is a truthful reflection of the nature of the sterile dental environment that is housed within. This houses the central vestibule and reception with a
visual interface as well as pedestrian movements along the edge of the building.
Healing and healthcare is a paradox that requires architectural intervention. It is this same paradox that informed measures taken towards developing this
project as a revised prototype. Exacerbated by the need to research a building type that can promote healing environment, the Dental Studio attempts
to create a closer harmony with nature through views, landscape and daylight.

The Master Shower/Tub control wall, featuring His & Hers (with laser engraved initials of first names) Moen volume control valves to activate each shower head. Tub control is via Moen iO digital interface with remote to bring with you into tub. Tub drain can be opened & closed via knob on the bottom, thus negating the need to enter the enclosure until the tub is filled, as well as until the showers are warm. Photo by MKleck Photography

This guest suite in Hayden, Idaho, proves that high-end engineering shouldn't be reserved just for the master wing. We designed this hall bath as an "exotic luxury" destination, utilizing a specialized Kohler DTV electronic control system to manage a precision hydrotherapy array. It’s a sophisticated, compact spa experience that offers guests the same level of technical performance found in the primary suite.
Technical & Artisan Highlights:
Exotic Glass Tile Artistry: The focal point of the shower is the stunning floor-to-ceiling back wall, featuring an intricate, high-gloss glass mosaic tile in a Moroccan-inspired pattern. This exotic texture is balanced by dark, linear-grain porcelain side walls, creating a bold, high-contrast aesthetic.
Streamlined DTV Digital Control: The shower is powered by a computerized DTV interface (visible on the left wall), allowing guests to digitally program their perfect water temperature and flow. This removes the clutter of traditional valves for a sleek, modern look.
Integrated Body Massage Array: Despite the streamlined design, this shower packs a punch with three wall-mounted massaging body sprayers. These are strategically aligned to provide a targeted hydrotherapy experience, all controlled via the digital keypad.
Versatile Handheld Wand: For added functionality and ease of maintenance, we integrated a professional-grade handheld spray wand on a sliding bar. This provides a flexible secondary water source that complements the fixed massage heads.
Custom Glass & Lighting: The shower is enclosed in heavy-duty, frameless glass to keep the focus on the decorative tile work. We also integrated recessed LED lighting to highlight the reflective qualities of the glass mosaic, giving the space a constant "jewel-box" glow.
