Then SRI followed through with the 3d Auto-CAD drawing of the stone wall. Folding the stone along the facets, involved the drawing of more than 40 sections which were later assembled at precise angles. The last step consisted of calculating the size and angle of each slab for production. SRI also designed and manufactured the steel structure which was erected parallel and recessed from the stone wall in order to receive the dry fixing anchors for the installation of the stone slabs.

Situated within London’s historic Hampstead Village, Cascade House spans four floors of a Grade II listed building and incorporates a new two­-bedroom dwelling. Kährs’ design was chosen by PATALAB Architecture to complement the interior’s purist black and white pallet – and the stunning project has received the FX International Design Award, and Surface Design Award 2015. The external appearance of Cascade House blends into its historic setting, whilst the interior provides a series of bright and contemporary spaces, flooded by natural light. A triple height staircase, with a ‘cascade’ of black-­stained treads, provides a central focus and gives the dwelling its new name. Kährs Oak Nouveau Charcoal was chosen to complement the bespoke timber joinery and panelling, which contrast with white ceilings, walls and furniture. The one-­strip wood floor is crafted in Sweden from rustic, sustainable oak; design features include a high performance engineered construction, a durable charcoal-­grey matt lacquer and a brushed and bevelled surface finish. Floor Installation 1.Mark out the baseline of gound level, 2.Mix the mortar with ratio of 1 cement to 4 sand to have semi-day mortar, 3.Lay the mixed mortar in level with a layer of 3-4cm thickness,place the tile over the mortar and adjust the height properly to be leveled, 4.Remove the tile after level adjustment.Put a thin layer of cement powder on the mortar and add water on it to become wet, 5.Put the tile on top and gently knock with rubber hammer until it sealed with the mortar properly. Make sure the tile is leveled and has the same space between each other. Those tiles which are not leveled with others should be removed and repeat the leveling procedure in step 4.Genetally,the space between two tiles should be 2mm for water evaporation and normal expansion.
