Vigilant Floral in Delft strikes the right refined yet playful note in this artistic Dallas townhouse designed by Alice Cottrell. Photography by: Stephen Karlisch.
At first glance a traditional floral, but upon deeper investigation you realize you’re not alone. You’re being watched. A fantastic take on today’s big brother culture, Dan Funderburgh uses security cameras to reveal how we have become impervious enough to the presence of cameras that we don’t even notice them immediately when in such a contradictory scenario such as this floral wallpaper. Birds and butterflies on razor is another less than subtle comment on humans entrap themselves and nature on a daily basis. Yet the serious nature of the commentary loses out to the overall humor behind the way the elements have been combined and that is exactly why Vigilant Floral is destined to become a classic. This handscreened pattern is available in four colorways with customization offered.

As needs have changed, new home construction in Atlanta has trended towards more open floor plans. Weidmann helps owners of older residences to investigate and achieve these same open objectives by consolidating and reconfiguring the available space on both levels. This home was opened up with a little creative organization, which included relocating the powder room, changing traffic patterns and repurposing rooms for a renewed lifetime of living.

The family purchased the 1950s ranch on Mullet Lake because their daughter dreamed of being married on its shores. The home would be used for the wedding venue and then as a wedding gift to the young couple. We were originally hired in August 2014 to help with a simple renovation of the home that was to be completed well in advance of the August 2015 wedding date. However, thorough investigation revealed significant issues with the original foundation, floor framing and other critical elements of the home’s structure that made that impossible. Based on this information, the family decided to tear down and build again. So now we were tasked with designing a new home that would embody their daughter’s vision of a storybook home – a vision inspired by another one of our projects that she had toured. To capture this aesthetic, traditional cottage materials such as stone and cedar shakes are accentuated by more materials such as reclaimed barn wood siding and corrugated CORTEN steel accent roofs. Inside, interior finishes include hand-hewn timber accents that frame openings and highlight features like the entrance reading nook. Natural materials shine against white walls and simply furnished rooms. While the house has nods to vintage style throughout, the open-plan kitchen and living area allows for both contemporary living and entertaining. We were able to capture their daughter’s vision and the home was completed on time for her big day.

Discovering the Charm: Exploring Jerusalem Properties Beyond History
In the core of the Center East, where antiquated history slams into advancement, lies the immortal city of Jerusalem. Known for its rich strict importance, social legacy, and dynamic air, Jerusalem offers something other than a brief look into the past — it's a no nonsense demonstration of the strength and variety of human development. In the midst of its tangled roads and celebrated milestones, lies a mother lode of properties ready to be found and loved.
Unveiling the Tapestry of Jerusalem Properties
Jerusalem's land scene is essentially as different as its populace, offering a kaleidoscope of choices to suit each taste and inclination. From noteworthy homes settled inside the Old City's walls to contemporary condos with clearing perspectives on the horizon, the city brags a heap of properties that take care of different ways of life and spending plans.
1. Old City Charms: Step back in time by living inside the antiquated walls of the Old City. Jerusalem Properties here radiate an unmatched feeling of history, with winding cobblestone roads, exceptionally old engineering, and closeness to hallowed locales like the Western Wall and the Congregation of the Sacred Mausoleum. Living in an Old City property resembles having a fantastic view to Jerusalem's renowned past.
2. Present day Polish: For those looking for a more contemporary living experience, Jerusalem offers a variety of smooth and up-to-date properties outfitted with best in class conveniences. Whether it's an extravagant penthouse sitting above the city or a stylish loft in a clamoring area like Mamilla or Rehavia, innovation meets solace in these metropolitan sanctuaries.
3. Rural Serenity: Past the hurrying around of the downtown area lie quiet rural areas that offer a tranquil retreat from the metropolitan uproar. Regions like Beit Hakerem, Ein Karem, and Abu Peak brag extensive properties encompassed by rich vegetation, ideal for families or anybody hoping to get away from the frantic speed of city life.
Beyond Brick and Mortar: Embracing Jerusalem's Essence
While the actual properties are without a doubt tempting, the substance of Jerusalem Properties genuinely separates them. Every area, road, and building conveys with it an interesting story, mirroring the city's multi-layered personality and getting through soul.
1. Social Mixture: Jerusalem is a mosaic of societies, religions, and customs, and its properties mirror this variety. Whether it's the varied design of the German Settlement, the lively road specialty of Nahlaot, or the serene feeling of the Armenian Quarter, each edge of the city offers a brief look into its vivid embroidery.
2. Otherworldliness and Comfort: Past its actual charm, Jerusalem Properties radiates an unmistakable feeling of otherworldliness and comfort. Living in the midst of its holy destinations and old landmarks can permeate a feeling of stunningness and worship, cultivating thoughtfulness and consideration in the midst of the mayhem of day to day existence.
3. Local area Associations: One of the most astounding parts of Jerusalem's properties is the feeling of local area they encourage. Whether it's neighbors gathering for Shabbat suppers, kids playing in shared parks, or occupants meeting up to commend occasions and celebrations, the bonds produced inside Jerusalem's areas are however persevering as they seem to be enhancing.
Conclusion: Writing Your Jerusalem Story
In the domain of land, Jerusalem is something beyond a city — it's a living material whereupon endless stories unfurl. From the cobblestone rear entryways of the Old City to the smooth roads of the cutting edge city, every property offers an interesting vantage point from which to encounter the enchantment of Jerusalem. No one enjoys the idea of their pets or children being exposed to the hazardous fumes found in many traditional paints. Green painting, or eco friendly painting, has exploded in popularity in recent years, and for good reason. Up until recently, green paint was hard to find and was very experience. Today, most major paint manufacturers carry many different types and colors of environmentally friendly paint. Fresh Coat of Northern Colorado can help you pick the perfect green painting and can even find you paint made from 100% organic materials.
Our Fort Collins green painting professionals can help you transform your home into an eco friendly haven. They will help explain what ingredients were used in the paint base and dye, and will even help you track down where the paint was made for further investigating.
If lowering the impact of your painting project on the environment and your families' health is important to you, green painting is a great idea. Give us a call today for more information or to receive a free estimate.

This project was a ton of fun. I have been working with these clients, now dear friends, for several years on their various properties and we work really well together. For their desert home, my goal was to create a new experience with each space while maintaining flow. This required striking a balance between organic light/airy spaces and glam dark/moody spaces. The finishes specified ranged from blackened steel, walnut, polished brass, rubbed plaster, digital wallcovering and back lit quartz to name a few. When a space draws you in closer to investigate there is a moment of discovery that elicits an emotional response. These spaces do just that. From sublime light fixtures to cozy seating vignettes, this home is a beautiful sanctuary - a place to entertain friends and family both indoors and out. It is a poised exercise in effortless, relaxed, edgy luxe design.

This shot really emphasizes how careful that we needed to be with the size of our furniture pieces. The chest at the end of the hall draws one toward to to investigate. This is the same chest and finish as one in the office. They have flush sides, so can be paired side-by-side in a future home, if desired. Tucson, Arizona, perhaps?

Natural light and its inherent mutability are the focus of this architectural investigation. Here it is used as a material to enhance one’s experience of the space and understanding of the sun’s movement across the sky. Different areas of activity within the open space are accentuated by clusters of light wells located over the dining table and kitchen island. Each light well has a different orientation to the sky that brings in varied and undulating shafts of light during the day. A single continuous slice of natural light at the perimeter defines a “proscenium” of the ceiling plane and produces the same play of light and shadow across the vertical surfaces.

New Media Art
All works reflect the work of the artist, Carol Ashton, with each piece anchored in acrylic on canvas then further investigated with digital media. Carol draws on her experience as Digital Literacy Specialist with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art to continue her exploration with digital technologies as a relevant and robust means of expressing beauty in the digital age.
Significant in her work is the desire to validate the union of art and function, recognizing the role of beauty in the internal conversations we have with our home and work environment.

The existing two story residence was built in 1937 and has a footprint of approximately 2,850 sq. ft. While much of the plan at both levels remained in its original “formal” layout with spacious rooms, the home did not meet the current day needs for this modern family. The lack of an “informal” family-room, no space to accommodate overnight guests, only a small powder room tucked under the main stair at the ground floor, and barely enough room for one car in the garage, not to mention the lack of storage space were the problems to solve.
After investigating numerous options the decision was made to introduce a new two story addition with maid’s quarters, a new laundry room, and a three car garage with plenty of additional storage space at the first floor, and a two bedroom guest suite with a kitchenette and living quarters at the second floor. Together with a small addition, this move delivered over 600 sq. ft in the main structure for a new family room with game tables and a full bathroom for guests which also serves as a cabana for the pool area.
The design of the additions, including the introduction of new fenestration to capitalize on daylight and views was sensitive to the original architecture and unanimously approved by the Historic Preservation Board of West Palm Beach.

This custom fireplace design was client's vision that came to life and accomplished what the client desired, which was to provide a focal point in the room and add warmth to the space. The fireplace features dramatic and vibrant real fire flame and is especially enjoable because of its location in the room and because there is no glass installed around it. This custom fireplace is designed with three open sides and two linear ribbon flame fires about thirty six inches long, covered with crushed black glass to enhance flame pattern. Collection hood was installed and suspended at the top, which connected to proper-sized vent system and power vent fan to ensure proper draft.
This appliance is a custom built decorative gas fireplace. The custom outdoor fireplace is rated for use with propane only and exhausts through a power vented 14” B-vent flue. The fireplace controls are designed to ensure that the exhaust fan has established an adequate draft via a pressure switch prior to initiating the pilot gas ignition sequence. This custom fireplace was approved by to the requirements contained in ANSI Z21.50-2014 “Vented Gas Fireplaces” standard. The investigation began on April 19, 2016 and concluded on April 29, 2016. The following non-destructive tests required by the applicable product standard were conducted with satisfactory results.

Functionality
The main burner tray is made of 16 gauge low carbon steel. Burners are easily removable, without the use of special tools, for repair and cleaning. The burner tray is readily accessible and designed so that one person can perform the removal and replacement unassisted. The burner is installed in a granite surround which is capable of supporting more than 300 lbs. The fireplace has an induced draft and the design is such as to prevent gas flow to the main burners and pilot burners in the event the blower providing the draft becomes inoperative. A pressure switch is used to achieve this. All controls are accessible for normal servicing and functional adjustment in position and are replaceable during normal servicing. Removal of an access panel to secure access to the control compartment is employed. Each appliance is equipped with an automatic gas ignition system which provides for ignition of main burner gas by means of proved pilot. If the presence of the pilot is not proved, automatic shut-off of pilot and main burner gas. The design of the custom fireplace is such that the flue gases from all burners are carried out of the appliance through a single flue outlet. The fireplace is equipped with a vent safety shut-off system designed to shut off main burner gas in the event the appliance venting system is blocked. The pressure switch device complies with a nationally recognized standard. The design of an electrically operated vent damper device and the control system are such that the damper is in the open position at all times that gas is flowing to the main burner. The firepalce is equipped with an automatic valve which controls both the pilot burner and the main gas.
