This is a beautifully tiled master bathroom that we did with a group called Xanadu Homes. This bathroom uses a 1" Bianco Carrara Hexagon mosaic on the floor and the shower floor. The shower walls carry a 3"x8" Bianco Carrara along the walls in a brick pattern to continue the natural stone look throughout the room. This bathroom is functional and it is also graceful. The floor isn't the main focal point in the room, it's actually the colorful accents that truly make the room pop. Sometimes when you get into white and grey and bianco carrara, it's easy to have a clinical look, but the accent colors found on the wallpaper and flowers really make a difference. This beautiful geometric project designed by Mike Farley has a lot of elevation changes with a stunning view of the golfcourse. The flush spa was kept near the house for easy access and blended with the contemporary style of the home. Both the outdoor kitchen and fire pit area are used as retaining walls with the elevation change. It also gives lots of seating along with the bar stools - inside and outside the pool. The water feature is a sheer rain fall that is kept low so that the golf course view isn't blocked. There is a nice sized tanning ledge to hang out on. The outdoor kitchen has a grill, trash can, drop in cooler and lots of seating. The cabana has cam lights for evening fun. We used ceramic on the patio that looks like wood and has greys and browns in it. The concrete is grey with a heavy texture. The channels have Mexican Pebble to blend with the grey tones.

The decision to install 2 vanity top towers allowed for more storage solutions and created a vertical component that added balance to the room. The client wanted to have an existing apartment remodeled and the kitchen, the bathroom and the powder room redesigned on a large-scale. For this purpose, the existing kitchen was gutted and also the wall to the storeroom was removed, which created much more space. She wanted a central kitchen element as a meeting place for family, friends and guests, flanked by a simple kitchenette and a wall unit with maximum storage space. A two-sided access to the kitchen makes it now easy to store purchases on short distances and to reach the nearby dining table in the open plan living area. White was chosen as the basic color for the cabinet furniture, which blends perfectly with the warm wooden elements of the surface material and the floor made of patterned ceramic tiles. All seems cozy and homely. Suspended lamps with vintage settings give the room a special touch. The existing interior bathroom was also gutted. We replaced the bathtub with a generous shower facility. The vanity unit in a classic oak look provides a lot of storage space, even for a washing machine and a dryer. The opposite wall construction offers additional storage space for a variety of personal items, but also technical units such as a hot water tank. The generous mirror coating creates a greatly enlarged space that turns this small bathroom into a spa oasis. The open-plan two-floor room concept was elegantly coordinated in terms of colors – white as the dominant color is alternated by delicate shades of gray. The existing wooden staircase was color-adapted with a special coating. Minimalist elements such as a fireplace in a concrete look give the room a modern touch, without neglecting the factor of coziness.

In our work, we see lots of big homes with big spaces. We also see small homes. And we’ll be the first to tell you that size isn’t what matters. What’s important is scale. Through design, we can make a small space look big—or make a big space look small. But more important, we can use scale to make your home interiors meet your functional needs while reflecting your personality, values and style. The Eyes Have It. When you step into a room, where do you look? Directing the eye is one of the magic tricks that designers use to create a particular effect. Bright red apples in a simple glass bowl immediately draws the eye to a kitchen counter. The hefty wood trivet and rounded concrete planter containing succulents echo the shape of the apples and the bowl, while adding new materials. A wood and metal stand holds an iPad or book for easy recipe reference, all atop an elegant light granite counter. In a separate arrangement, ceramic artichokes create shape and shine but maintain the neutral color for continuity. In this context, the eye is drawn immediately to the bright red color. That’s why sparse seasonal decorations can be more effective than heavy ornamentation. We can actually take in more when there are fewer items to focus on.
